    IC-7100 Ham Radio Install

@DrGene seems to be gone now, but I want to ask about your experiences with the RFI from Tesla vehicles. I have a Model X Plaid and it operates mostly 7MHz. I have a Yaesu FT-891 (50W) with a Diamond 7MHz mobile whip antenna mounted on my upper trunk lid with a motorized K9000 mount. I'm getting...

updates for Japan - why so delayed and features locked?

Hi, I have an X Plaid and a 2021 Y, and 2021 Y has 2024.2.7. Looking at TeslaFi, it seems there are no Model 3s with 2023.38.9.1, so I think you will receive updates soon. Is your firmware download setting Advanced? Advanced = earlier software update.

    Model X Winter Tires

Oh, maybe it's my misunderstanding. Please let me know if the Cyclones fit with your X! I already bought another set of OEM 20-inch wheels.

    Model X Winter Tires

For Cyclones, yes. Is your new X Plaid? The brake caliper size on the Plaid is bigger. Cyclones + Plaid didn't fit (the wheels didn't clear the brakes). Some people in Japan say Cyclones + LR fit, but I have no personal experience.

Formatting SSD for Steam limits dashcam/sentry partition to 64GB

Yeah, @MP3Mike may be right. I had two-partitioned USB stick before, each for sentry and music. Now that Steam make only two partitions and doesn't allow me to modify the partition size, I have no idea how I can coexist Steam, music and sentry on one physical SSD.

Formatting SSD for Steam limits dashcam/sentry partition to 64GB

I have the same problem. Some commenters do not know how Steam on Tesla Model S/X works, so here's some additional information. When installing Steam on your Tesla, it repartitions the whole physical drive into two partitions, making the first 64GB partition for sentry and the other encrypted so...

    Everybody’s software version (M3)

Updates are sent based on vehicle model, version, and configuration. TeslaFi offers statistical data on which type of vehicle received which update. According to TeslaFi, 124 vehicles currently have 2023.38.9.1, and 44 cars have already received 2024.2.3 (which I have) and have been installed...

Battery and Drive Unit Warranties ending soon. What next?

Hi, I can't believe the drive unit costs so much! I had a warranty replacement of the MX rear motor, and the invoice was like this. The rear motor assembly itself costs around 900,000 yen.

    BYD in Japan

BYD is using the traditional dealer model to satisfy Japanese customers. Numbers show that BYD is doing much better than Hyundai, which employs a direct sales model like Tesla. Many factors affect the low Tesla sales figures in Japan. I believe one major factor is insufficient service. Since...

    Model X Winter Tires

I had a 2017 MXP and upgraded(?) to 2023 MXP. My previous winter rims were Tesla Cyclone 19 for Model X. I had hoped that these rims fit the new MXP, but they didn't. Some of my friends said they fit the new MX LR, but in my experience, the rims didn't clear brake calipers. I also read this...

Vendor Scan My Tesla, a CANBUS reader for Android

Last October, I got my MXP and installed the OBDLink LX with the new cable. It worked fine as before, but the cubby space is so small I can't stow the adapter and the cable inside and close the door. Read this thread - and found Scott drilled a hole to pass the cable. Is there any way to put it...

Sudden drop when parked at specific mileage

I felt the same way - I.e., if the SOC is under 50% and the car is parked for some time, the SOC drops for standby power. I believe this is because the battery is getting colder, and voltage drops due to cold. You'll see higher range drops while parked at SOC 20% or 10%. It is not from...

    Speaker upgrade - Light Harmonic

Thank you for sharing your installation photos! Which model is this? Model S/3/X/Y? I had a 2017 Model X and replaced the speakers at Focal Kisarazu: https://www.focal-audio.jp/ But now I sold it to Tesla and bought Plaid. I wouldn't say I liked the woofers and sub-woofer of the old Model X...

Service mode in Japan - Password?

So, can I just rename the WiFi router SSID to "tesla-vehicle," and it works?? I will try later today.

    2023.32.9 release

Hi, just an anecdote, my old Model X didn't get the update, so apparently, this update is for HW3 with AMD processor.
