Sentry missed M3 trunk vandalism event

Sorry to hear of your neighbor's truck damage. Crazy stuff. A Deputy Sheriff took a report, and mentioned that he's had other reports from Tesla owners where Sentry didn't trigger for rear end damage. Around here (Santa Clarita, CA), catalytic converter theft is a sizeable problem, so at least...

Sentry missed M3 trunk vandalism event

Fortunately they only damaged the trunk. Hope you're right... will be getting estimates soon.

Sentry missed M3 trunk vandalism event

Unfortunately, it does seem that Sentry could use some improvement for rear camera detection.

Sentry missed M3 trunk vandalism event

Thanks M3Posh. Originally we used a USB stick that wore out and threw USB errors, but in this case USB was working fine. Upgraded to a Taptes USB hub that fits inside the 2018 M3's center front console, neatly hiding a 500GB Samsung MU-PC500T drive (both from Amazon). No 'Check USB' problems...

Sentry missed M3 trunk vandalism event

Let's hope not - though it does seem that Sentry isn't good at detecting threats from the rear of the vehicle. According to the Deputy Sheriff who took an incident report, it's not the first time he's had reports of Sentry failing to trigger from rear end damage.

Sentry missed M3 trunk vandalism event

Agree, now I just need to remember to do the weekly deletion. Fortunately, as long as the file name is recovered when undeleting files, it's easy enough to narrow down the files of interest by date/time.

Sentry missed M3 trunk vandalism event

Thanks Pipp. Let's hope Sentry doesn't have a weakness that haters are learning to exploit - but it does seem that online videos of crazy vandalism have side camera views.

Sentry missed M3 trunk vandalism event

Had a nasty experience at Barrel Springs Trail car park near Palmdale, CA - a warning that Tesla haters are active there in case others venture out for a hike. Somehow, someone was able to deeply key scratch our Model 3's trunk without Sentry creating an event. Sentry was working fine at the...

    Dashcam Data

Have looked, but there's no sign of indication from what I can tell, at least not for mid-2019 files that recorded an accident during broad daylight. Maybe at night turn signals would be more apparent in the video.

    Dashcam Data

Just having a video that includes road features such as dashed lane lines that are a standard length indirectly tells your speed. What would be extremely useful in contested situations are turn signal status indicators in the video, so you can prove you were signaling correctly. In the video...

Possible Solutions for the New User Interface UI 11?

Agree, had the same problem in the mountains with no cell reception for voice commands. Defrosters need to be accessible with one click. It's a safety issue. There's plenty of room along the top edge of the screen for more dedicated or user-selectable buttons, that would be a good place for them...

Holiday Update (2021.44.25.2)- A Big Disappointment

Hopefully Tesla is listening to V11 feedback in this and other forums, and will be making usability improvements soon. A couple more observations from version 2021.44.30: 1. When there's no mobile reception, a 'no service' icon appears at the top of the screen, to the left of the passenger...

Holiday Update (2021.44.25.2)- A Big Disappointment

Unfortunately, other folks have found out that uninstalling updates is not possible, even by a Tesla Service Center. With all the feedback being created, we just have to hope that Tesla listens and makes UI improvements quickly.

Holiday Update (2021.44.25.2)- A Big Disappointment

Bodosom: "Or consider the headlight pop-up. I wonder how many people have discovered that?" - not me for one, please do share the secret :)

    V11 questions

Agree that the previous "+/-" speed control buttons were much easier to control accurately than the new zoom slider, especially on a bumpy road miles from cell towers where voice commands don't work.
