I experience a roller coaster of emotions when I refresh my account page, view source, ctrl+f only to discover that when I type in "5YJ", it finds a bit of code in the HTML that has nothing to do with my VIN.

I hope your contact is incorrect. I placed an order 30-days ago and don't have a VIN. If what he's saying is true, a decent number of us not in California aren't getting our orders before Oct. 1.

By all appearances, it really does look like they're going from east-to-west. I'm in roughly the same boat you are geographically (Idaho), so based on the progress, I'm thinking that our cars will have VINs late this week/early next.

Out of curiosity, did someone notify you that your VIN had been applied or did you just happen to notice it on your account page? I ordered the same config as you on the same day, so I'm obviously hopeful based on your situation
