Airstream Towing Equipment Recommendations - Sport or Nest

When I started towing, my X needed the LED adapter. At some point a firmware upgrade may have happened because there have been times when I have not used the adapter and everything has worked just fine. Though I haven't exhaustively tested this claim; others in a position to reproduce are...

Airstream Towing Equipment Recommendations - Sport or Nest

I've found that moving a couple of heavy items to the rear of the airstream – e.g. stacking a couple of the bed's storage tubs in the toilet – is enough to shift the balance.

    Ohmman's Airstream Adventures

Sorry for the delay! I've been busy relocating to Singapore. Yes, my guideline is about 1% on the battery per mile, so 80–90 is just right at 55mph. You don't want to go much over 55mph anyway. It's the speed limit for towing on most highways, and the wind resistance goes up quadratically...

    Ohmman's Airstream Adventures

I lived with my +1 in the AS22 for about a year. It was quite the crucible but we (and our relationship) survived. The dinette cushions really are a recipe for back pain, but otherwise it was a good experience. Details are here: Airstream Towing Equipment Recommendations - Sport or Nest My...

    Ohmman's Airstream Adventures

I’m guessing B on mine – 2016 MX 75D. Proposed experimental design: With one or two voltmeters handy, one could measure the 12VDC at the trailer and at the car’s center console and trunk outlet. It would be particularly interesting to see what the house voltage is after the car cuts power to...

Btw your back might thank you if you move the triple-pane cushion assembly from the middle to the end where your feet are.

    Ohmman's Airstream Adventures

Has anyone done the SF to LA run while towing? I'm looking at the coastal route on the way down and inland back. Looks like I'll want to overnight at an RV park somewhere south of Big Sur; anyone have any recommendations for overnighting?

    Ohmman's Airstream Adventures

So I just boondocked for a couple of weeks at Skyline Park's horse camping section, which has water but no power. I plugged the trailer in to the Model X using the 7 way adapter several hours a day. User load was about 70W worth of monitor and laptop, plus house LED lights off the USB ports. The...

Smoked a couple of Porsches yesterday

Loud engine noise from behind was followed shortly by a pair of Porsches apparently trying to road-race each other on the freeway. After they passed me I looked at my three passengers and we all shrugged. A few seconds later we passed both Porsches. Both of them were still busy converting...

So here's a funny thing that happened yesterday. I was driving around San Francisco with a friend who happens to be a Russian lady. Model X Travel Trailer Consumption Analysis

I've been happy running the house off 12V power through the 7 way adapter coming off the Tesla. AFAIK the line stays hot. My 22FB didn't come with inverters so I added a cigarette lighter adapter under the fridge which powers a small 180W inverter to run the computers and monitors. Might be...
