Comparison of Model 3 Performance w/ Two Versions of MPP Coilovers

Most amazing wife's reaction and indulgence towards mods on her car... I am so jealous!!! LOL

Anyone actually tested Unplugged vs MPP or Ohlins?

It depends as in the case of MY/M3 the shock travel itself isn’t the issue as much as suspension arms changing alignment a lot across the motion arc and range. Lowered or raised the issue is suspension arms shifting out of alignment at extreme ends. Properly designed system will address arms...

Anyone actually tested Unplugged vs MPP or Ohlins?

The inherent issues are in the space and lack of it. Aftermarket suspension still has to work with the same constraints of lack of stroke and high dynamic alignment changes. But properly designed aftermarket solutions offer higher degree of adjustments and higher grade components to make the...

Anyone actually tested Unplugged vs MPP or Ohlins?

I feel like waking up a very old thread, but it kept popping up in my Google results for other things, saw it often. I felt compelled to write something about it, as I have been an engineer of monotube suspension systems at Tom's Racing, RS-R Japan, and Cusco Japan, and now on and off at UP...

    Alignment and Tire degradation

Even with fresh alignment taken on a static rack, things can move around quite a bit, with grippy tires loading significantly under braking and acceleration loads too. Toe will flex out of alignment with bushings flexing out of alignment, etc. So be sure to inspect all of the arms and bars...

MASTER THREAD: Comprehensive Road-Course Modification Guide — Optimizing the 3 for the track

Even with the power to weight equalized at the wheel, after the compensated figure (WHP), the Tesla and many other similarly equipped BEV have a simple and huge advantage over ICE cars in that the most of these BEV have nearly 100% of the torque available from zero rpm. This is VERY different...

MASTER THREAD: Comprehensive Road-Course Modification Guide — Optimizing the 3 for the track

May take time but now that I am at UP, I will start to validate things like this more often and bring you results :D I'm seeing more and more things like Model Y's towing things and Model 3's on raceways, little things do add up. Trust me as I have been in motorsports from SCCA to Japan's Super...

MASTER THREAD: Comprehensive Road-Course Modification Guide — Optimizing the 3 for the track

It's still the middle of winter, but is your car ready for spring and summer warmer months? Tesla cars perform really well in warmer climates and are best enjoyed in the summer for travels and local trips. But one of the stress points of a Tesla is the drive unit. It's basically the equivalent...

Rear control arm bushing on the front replacement

Not to point to any specific bushings or product, but all suspension bushings in general, when stock rubber, can flex and send the alignment off by quite a bit under loads. Here is a video we did and look how much displacement is taking place with stock bushings.

    UPP LUXURY COILOVER ADJUSTMENT THREAD.

Hi, just another pointer. From softest up to 6 clicks up, there is a fluid bypass in the system on UP coilover, which tends to soften medium to high-speed damping. So from 7~10 click up, you should see a significant change in rebound control and a slightly sharper compression feel. Where it...

Our recent outing with UP's Tesla Corsa Track Day. Here a customer S-Plaid is fully accelerating out of a S-corner on the west side of Buttonwillow Raceway. See how much lift the front end exhibits from sheer g-forces and torque at the rear wheels... Amazing cars in terms of defying physics...
