I would guess that the traction is better on dry proper asphalt at the right temperature than on the steel drums. The grooves on the drums are for noise cancellation rather than traction :-)

“Torque is what gets you to the speed you want quickly; horsepower is what keeps you there.” - Charles Hubbard, Lexus College P85D has massive torque, also compared to the P85, and it has AWD for better traction. But at speed the P85D superiority compared to the P85 or 85D is minimal and...

So 257 + 257 = 422 hp at Fremont but they will not tell us what 221 + 470 equals using their secret calculator ... 422 is about 18% of the 514 so using the deduction of 18% from 691 gives us 566, which is close to max kW under acceleration which is 418kW. Given those numbers the correct number...

I understand wk057s post as questioning the validity of the REST API data, hence the 3.3 sec - but with that in mind I still think we are getting close and I believe that it will be able to do it in the right conditions, which would make me a happy owner. But I would like to have it available at...

well, i don't know. I only have the two numbers - the energy drawn from the battery and the energy output at the wheels. HOWEVER, the 415 kW is at a 100% battery level, and the dyno was done at 70% battery, since we could not get the charger to work. But lets just say that the loss is 8%, so we...

So the car was at Tesla for testing last week. I have not heard anything from them yet - but this is the numbers from the REST API from their testing: From these data it did not look like they were able to hit the magic 3.3s for 0-100 km/h - actually, having only one out of ten tests only...

The belt broke after 45 min testing. We had done all the tests and verified them several times. Then I asked him do a test were he floored it from zero. He was not sure that it would stay on the dyno, so he did a soft roll out at about 5 km/h and then it broke the belt. We had to run it at max...

I bought a car that was advertised as being able to go 0-100 km/t at 3.4 s, later updated to 3.3 s. The car is going into Tesla tomorrow for testing along with two other P85D's. I expect them to come back with a solution for the car to achieve the advertised numbers.

Was just upgraded to .239 and tested - now it is drawing approx 385kW at just under 90% charge. Tested on dry road, 17 Celsius, A/C and radio off, 21" tubine

I agree that 22% loss would be to much for one electric motor. However the 400kW draw is for two motors, so the loss would be about twice the loss in a single motor. Furthermore the P85 results do not tell us anything about the P85D as the rear motor may be configured differently in the P85D - I...

 Ha ha - this would actually be funny, expect for the fact that I paid $150.000 for the car
