Tax credit 2024 [The tax credit discussion thread]

The tax credit is a payment to the buyer that the buyer is essentially using as a down payment. Therefore, it would not normally affect the state taxable amount. In a lease the opposite applies, the payment is to the leasing company and the leasing company is optionally using it to offer a...

Tax credit 2024 [The tax credit discussion thread]

Have you ever owned a business? I doubt that there is a sales tax state in the country that gives business the option of not collecting and paying sales tax. If they don't collect it, they will have to pay it from their own funds.

Tax credit 2024 [The tax credit discussion thread]

If you buy the car in 2024, you get the full $7,500 up front regardless of tax liability. 2023 purchase - old rule - you're out of luck.

All US Cars capable of FSD will be enabled for one month trial this week

Paranoia not necessary. No new requirements for automatic download to all Tesla cars with necessary hardware (virtually all).

Tesla Owners, Let's Talk: Touchscreen vs. Physical Buttons - What's Your Take?

For years many cars have had thumb buttons to push while then pulling the handle. It amazes me that anyone has difficulty understanding the bigger portion of the handle is "the button". The mechanical interior release issue is no longer a problem because it also manages the window when the car...

Tesla Owners, Let's Talk: Touchscreen vs. Physical Buttons - What's Your Take?

Automatic mode varies wheel temperature according to heat demand of the cabin. I use automatic climate control always, and I set the temerature twice a year - 70 in spring and 68 in approaching winter (wearing a coat). Only AC control I ever need to touch is defrost and I have that on the left...

Tesla Owners, Let's Talk: Touchscreen vs. Physical Buttons - What's Your Take?

Have you tried automatic? I can't believe anyone would worry about steering wheel heat controls anymore. BTW, I don't agree with your proposed changes, especially since conflicting traffic shows red now.

    Model Y Competition: Rivian R2 Price & Specs Leaked! -- $47500, 0-60 3 Sec, 330 Miles Range

The engineering for the R2 prototype was likely completed long before a decision to go with NACS was made. The production model is not finalized at present, so why not wait and see?

Tax credit 2024 [The tax credit discussion thread]

NO! AGI - adjusted GROSS income, not TAXABLE income. Adjustments are clearly spelled out on your 1040 and are not the "deductions".

Tax credit 2024 [The tax credit discussion thread]

I don't think that an Internet forum is the place to get that kind of advice. Ask the IRS or a tax lawyer.

    Model Y Competition: Rivian R2 Price & Specs Leaked! -- $47500, 0-60 3 Sec, 330 Miles Range

I suspect that batteries will be their biggest problem. They are specifying a 4695 new battery configuration for a structural battery pack. That design commits them to the battery spec. The factory for those batteries has not yet been built. Every single new battery plant has had delays and...

Tax credit 2024 [The tax credit discussion thread]

"Due" when filing is not the issue. You don't say why the refund. If it's because you overpaid i.e, with withholding, the credit would be part of your refund up to your total tax obligation for the year. If you paid no tax during the year 2023 and are getting a refund due to an amended previous...

How is it Possible my 2023 MYLR Trade in value is so low?

10 years from now if you need a new battery, it will be cheaper, and your old battery will have substantial trade in or resale value to a recycler. Salvage value is already high.

How is it Possible my 2023 MYLR Trade in value is so low?

It is naive not to understand that Tesla's mission is to make EVs available to as many people as possible. It has always meant that cost of building and therefore retail prices would follow a downward curve. The 2022 price bubble was a result of extraordinary demand leading to year long waits...
