NEW - Matrix LED Adaptive High Beams with Release 2024.8.3

Used the matrix full beam control update on 2024-04-01 for the first time. Worked well. You can definitely see the pattern modulate as you move to empty roads and when the car sees reflective signs and other vehicles in near and off side lanes and carriageways. The pattern changes make for a...

2023 Tesla Model Y w enhanced autopilot missing summon and autopark.

Model Y with ultrasonic sensors here. Autopark - very helpful. Varies in its confidence with software updates. Summon - highly restricted in its action here in the UK. When it does, sometimes, work on balance it’s just faster and easier to get in and drive. You’re not missing much.

Has auto-park gotten a lot worse?

Had autopark on my 2017 Model S. was as you describe. OK, then better. Though it was a bit fast and cavalier at times reversing into spaces. Got a Model Y in 2022. Did better than the Model S. parked parallel and in between cars and in ‘vertical’ spaces well. Then, maybe last year, things...

Spare tire - Modern vs StanceMagic vs Tsportline

🤷🏻‍♂️ I had a rivet stuck in a tyre on my Model Y. I just used a can of Holt’s tyre repair gloop. It worked fine to fill the hole, get me home, and last the few days before I cautiously got the tyre replaced. I used the same stuff on a previous Model S. worked well for 100s of miles. A ‘blow...

    Washer hose wear/tear

Realised I’d moaned but not followed up. After I found the ragged hose end I got some suitable hose and a few connectors. Then I tidied up the ragged end and put in a length of new hose. I checked the routing of the hose to make sure it was not going to catch or rub. It was still working...

Powerwalls Don't Turn On When Grid Goes Down

Similar experience to the OP here. Nighttime. Powerwall was powering the house. Load was about 0.9kW. SoC was about 80%. Reserve for backup was set to 10%. Flipped the grid isolation switch to simulate a power cut. No electricity. Flipped grid isolation switch back on. Power restored...

    2023 deliveries in UK

I ordered a Model X in … maybe early 2021 in anticipation of replacing my model S. when the model Y availability came up late 2021 I cancelled my Model X order, ordered a Model Y, picked it up February 2022. I should’ve kept the Model X order open, expecting to replace our Model 3 later this...

    Summon stopped working

Summon rarely works when needed. It is always easier and faster to get in and drive IME. Smart summon in the U.K. is a non event.

    100% charge or 90 or 95?

Charging above 90% is a bit meh. You lose regenerative braking. Inefficient and means you have to use those brakes more. It takes disproportionally longer to charge 90-100% than, for example, 80-90%. It gains you a modest increase in range. Since 2018 I’ve done it a handful of times and now...

Solar Panels UK - is it worth it?

Interesting thread. Just started down the solar/battery path in earnest. Realised with current prices we could break even before death. In fact before retirement. Crazy electricity consumption at home that does not seem to have reduced with 1 child having left. Not expecting a great reduction...

    Model 3 requiring MOT soon

I took my Model S to National Tyres Stockport for its MOTs 2 years running. The folks there were great and interested in the various warnings of death and injury I provided them from the manual. It passed both times. Flying colours on emissions ;).

    Premium Internet Cost

£9.99/month. I had unlimited on my Model S. The extra features and speed of my Model Y make internet things worth having... when I need them. For trips and holidays I subscribe for a month. This is great for using the satellite pictures to better locate where you're meant to be. I stop the sub...

2022 Y Long Range- Matrix headlights?

No idea if my MIC early 2022 UK MYLR has matrix headlights. I do see that they are a lot brighter than my Model S headlights and better than our Model 3 SR+ headlights. Bright, angular, and needing calibration every now and again.

UK MYLR. Rear and driver’s door windows shown for comparison.
