    New Software updates (2018.48.12)

The latest software update has really negatively impacted my overnight vampire drain from the battery. I am now losing up to 15km per day. Tesla Hong Kong says they are aware of the problem and hoping that HQ corrects it with the next update. I sure hope so too. With all the additional trips to...

Financing and insurance in Hong Kong

Prudential quoted $44k. AXA at $16k with high excess. Liberty at $19k. I am going with Kwiksure 3rd party liability only at $3800. I drive only about 6000km per year so I don't see the point in paying $3 per km just for insurance. Self insurance is a better bet. Does anybody have an alternative...

My Terrible Ordeal with AXA Insurance Renewal

I was quoted $14,500 by Prudential vs. $13,300 by AXA. Both up a lot on last time. I've read about these low rates from Prudential, but when I apply, they don't seem to materialise.

    Battery % Loss while Parked

I lose an average of about 5km per day. Your mileage may differ!

Hong Kong Tesla Model S Charging Standard

Does anybody out there experience reliability problems when charging at the Star Ferry charge points? I'm talking about the "medium charging" setting, which should give about 25km per hour. I find it works only 50% of the time, and then I need to opt for the 8km per hour normal plug in option...

Autopilot and parking now available in HK for AP2

The answer to this question is probably unknowable, but I will throw it out there to see what peeps think. There is such a big gap between what Hong Kong autopilot seems capable of (very little), and what you see autopilot doing in demonstration videos from Tesla and others. Autopilot is a joke...

Hong Kong Tesla Model S Charging Standard

Thanks for the answer. Can I clarify.....I didn't purchase any enhanced charging options with the X, so I presume that the 16A 3 phase charging is what I am seeing when I am getting 45km per hour? Reason I ask is that when I purchased the car, I remember there was like a HKD12k option that would...

Hong Kong Tesla Model S Charging Standard

A quick question about using e-charge facilities here in HKG. Although the units offer the choice of 16A and 32A, and I choose 32A on the e-charge unit, the MX charging screen only allows me to select 16A. My charging rate is therefore 45 km/hr. Is this typical? Am I doing something wrong and...

Autopilot and parking now available in HK for AP2

A quick question. I cant recall my dashboard screen ever picking up and displaying cars in adjacent lanes. I was expecting to see this when autosteer was unveiled, but it seems not. Is this normal? Under what circumstances would one expect to see the cars in adjacent lanes?

Emergency braking and Side Collision never to be approved in Hong Kong

Are these features not enabled? Based upon the performance of my vehicle since receiving 8.1, I think that the TD would be quite reasonable in delaying approval. With cruise control active, the car is frequently hesitating when passing underneath gantry/overhead signs, and it even tried to make...

Financing and insurance in Hong Kong

Has anybody done any research into the insurance questions surrounding the fact that the replacement cost of our cars is now roughly double the purchase price? Anybody tried to increase their coverage up to replacement cost?

Wilson Car Park - Waste of EV charging resource in HK

mattse raises a good point here. ICE's are much more like to occupy the EV spaces if they are in the most convenient locations. If, for example, the EV spots at Star Ferry were on the second floor, then the ICEHOLES will be much less likely to park there. I bet this would solve 80% of the...

Wilson Car Park - Waste of EV charging resource in HK

We get what we pay for in life. If we want government sponsored free charging, we can't realistically expect a quality product. What we get is a half ass enforcement effort and cones in front of spaces. Or we get free but under-supplied supercharging from Tesla, where we pay for it indirectly...

Wilson Car Park - Waste of EV charging resource in HK

Seriously folks. They can introduce a small fee for occupying an EV space to cover the electricity usage - whether or not the car plugs in or not - and 95% of the ICE cars will be gone from these spaces. Collection can be via an Octopus parking meter, and enforcement could be done by the meter...

Wilson Car Park - Waste of EV charging resource in HK

I take the TD at face value that they don't have a contractual basis to force Wilson to reserve spots only for EVs. And it would be extremely difficult for Wilson to comply. Maybe we'd all be better of paying a small premium for simply occupying an EV space, and then this fee would apply to...
