    European SuperCharger rollout updated

Whilst I respect the efforts of my German bothers, I feel that the EU has spoken, and here in the UK we have adopted this legislation also. It seems that as of November 15th last year no new Tesla Supercharger locations will go live in the UK unless they provide CCS/Combo2 capability, or Tesla...

Why regenerative braking belongs on the brake pedal

Tesla have nailed it. They limit regen to 60kw (around 80bhp) which simply isn't enough power to destablise the rear tyres under normal conditions. If the car is being thrown around a bend then the traction control is very capable (I know because I've experienced it on a number of occasions) so...

What do you think of the door handles?

People in the back seats have a massive glass panel above their heads that simply pushes out in an emergency. If someone can design a flush handle that is simpler then tell me, I'll patent it immediately and happily give you 30% cut of the licencing ;)

Lack of battery heater may cause very slow SuC charging speed

It is a physical feature of Lithium batteries that plating can occur if charged at very low temperatures so Tesla are just being responsible. It just means that you have to allow a little extra time if charging a cold car. I think it is a sensible move forward to lose the weight and extra parts...

DC charging on type 2 mode 3?

As Arg said..sometime ago..I'm trying to bring this one back; even without an adapter all our cars should be able to do 70KW DC with no extra hardware needed, should just be a simple firmware update if the Tesla's don't already support "Type2 DC-Mid". For higher speeds "Type 2 DC High" I think...

Why Tesla doesn't make a CCS adapter like Chademo?

** Correction where I said 80KW it is actually 70KW DC; the current Tesla connectors in Europe can do that with no extra hardware needed, should just be a simple firmware update if the Tesla's don't already support "Type2 DC-Mid". For Combo2 a very simple adapter is required. It would almost be...

Why Tesla doesn't make a CCS adapter like Chademo?

Some of you folks are saying that if you already have Chademo then no need to worry about CCS. That may be true in Asia, and possibly the US, but only for up to 50KW. In Europe we really want to get on with the job of moving to one standard, and in Europe it is CCS Combo2 for DC charging. For...

    Can’t Charge Above 97%?

It seems common for the last couple of percent to take a very long time. Some call this 'balancing' not sure if that is correct (there are some claims that balancing happens regularly during 'daily' SoC) but certainly it seems very common for the charge rate to taper off to almost nothing at the...

    Battery degradation

As per TexasEV, the trip meter doesn't show all the energy consumed from the battery, but I believe it does a good job of showing the energy productively transfered into useful stuff like HVAC, battery heater and propulsion. If I am right then the difference between energy put into the battery...
