Looking for South Bay area alignment shop for Model X

Do you have a link with more info? I have a 3 I’m pondering suspension upgrades for.

Looking for South Bay area alignment shop for Model X

It was going to be $270ish at Sunnyvale Tesla for an X last week, but they found suspension problems so it ended up being covered by warranty.

Anyone try Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus II tires?

Follow up: I took the X in to Tesla Sunnyvale to get aligned. Turns out there was a failed bushing which explains the handling issues. They ended up replacing the “FR SUSP AFT LINK ASSY” and then performed an alignment (all covered by warranty). The car tracks a lot better at freeway speeds...

Anyone try Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus II tires?

FWIW, 42 psi is what is recommended. You are correct that 50 is max. There could be some alignment issues. We bought it used and I’ve never had it aligned (60k miles). The wear patterns on the tires all look pretty normal, though.

Anyone try Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus II tires?

It’s been a few hundred miles now. The X isn’t my primary car, so a lot of the miles aren’t mine, but I do drive it fairly often. The ride did seem to initially be worse, with the car being challenging to keep centered in the lane (autopilot struggled, too), but then I belatedly realized that...

    Plaid+ CANCELLED

    Breaking Plaid, you say?

damn did I have the capacity to charge my tesla fast all along?

Yeah, that’s a 20 amp 120V outlet, so a bit better than the standard 15 amp 120V outlet, but still not fast. You can charge at 16 amps continuous on it, which means 1.9 kW charging (multiply amps and volts). Compare that to the 32 amp 240V, which gives you 7.7kW, 4 times faster!

Replace back tires -> Never need to rotate tires?

Left to right uniform radius is likely a lot more important because of the differential, than front to back, which are not mechanically connected. Our X has a staggered set up so I imagine the diameters don’t match exactly, and that’s as it comes from the factory.

    Hotel/Destination Charging Thoughts

At our work, they have “EV Connect” chargers that are set up to be free for the first 12 kWh, but then start charging you $1 per kWh starting at 13 kWh. This way people are really good about moving their cars! We also are required to have our name and phone number on the dash while charging...

    Model 3 Drag Racing?

So, in the stoplight wars, it’s better to challenge another car if the road is uphill? Interesting…

Anyone try Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus II tires?

I ended up buying a pair for the rear a couple of days ago (installed price $570 at America’s Tire). Haven’t driven too much yet to give much of an opinion. The first impression is that they feel a bit “squishy”, but that always happens when I go from a tire with almost no tread blocks to full...

What is high mileage to you? Would you buy high mileage used?

If I could find an MP3 with 55k miles for $35k, I’d buy it today!

Your Maintenance experiences / Cost to own

2018 with about 17k miles. Had a flat tire that couldn’t be repaired, so that was a couple of hundred bucks. Otherwise, no out of pocket expenses. Had paint corrected right after I bought it, but that was covered.

What is high mileage to you? Would you buy high mileage used?

One other thing to consider is the warranty. At 55k miles, the warranty coverage is gone for everything except the powertrain. So, that will impact the value of the car as well.

Thanks for your review. The speed rating won’t initially be an issue because I’m doing the rears first, but it’s good to know about.
