2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

Anyone actually interested in what these facts translate into? It's well know the prior M3P easily makes 550hp. Now add 22% and 32% to 550hp = 671hp continuous and 726hp peak. Now obviously pure speculation however I think we'll all be pleasantly surprised by the 1/4 mile times.

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Here's my speculation, along with some projections based on leaked info. Old M3P as tested by me and my car with only 5 dragy results. Best true 0-60 of 3.28, 1ft rollout 3.09 or for marketing purposes 3.0. most of my regular runs are 3.3.-3.4. Best 60ft time of 1.84 during this run. Best...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

If they are quoting true 0-60 times, I could see that, which means approx 2.7 with 1ft rollout. My best true 0-60 is 3.28 with a few 3.37, 3.48, 3.51. I think that would make this new M3L live up to this new moniker IMO. And with more HP up top should be a nice upgrade.

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Just gonna throw this out there and leave it....it's one thing to label a car "performance" that runs 11s all day long and then go and outdo yourself with the Model S "plaid" which completely blew EVERY SINGLE vehicle out of the water. Now this new alleged "Ludicrous" moniker for the 3, id it...

Nope, this the same location as the other "leaks" just look at the bricks.

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

I'm now thinking this has to be a significant upgrade in performance, and not just slight visual upgrades, seats, suspension, etc. For the simple fact of continue to increase sales and to entice older buyers of the M3P to continue upgrading. Like someone said earlier, that when this first came...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

My 2 cents, The back half of the M3P is pretty comparable (4 seconds), within a tenth and only a few mph to other ICE vehicles IMO....I think the correct wording sound be, it just "doesn't pull as hard as the first 60 mph"...of course it doesn't because it doesn't have the plaid motors. Let's...

are you holding back model S long range purchase due to new model 3 highland performance release next year?

The M3P already approximately 550hp. My guess is the next performance oriented model 3 will have a real HP number, not reported, of at least 650+. Which in theory would translate to 10.7 @ 125mph and a sufficient step up to have old M3P upgrade to the new one.

First freezing cold snow driving observations

For anyone wondering about cold weather efficiency...set the cruise control at 73mph. I've also attached the route. Specs, 2023 M3P on 235/45/18 sottozero winter tires.

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Only 1/4 mile pass ever, 2023 M3P stock everything and no battery preconditioning. SOC over 90%. I would say this qualifies as "average."

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Think about this for a moment....if these performance projections are true, having a 1/4 mile of around 10.6-10.8 at 125+ mph....for around 60k??? Those are insane stats comparable to a 2017 911 turbo that retailed for 170k or a new Z06. Like others have mentioned, our current stats are...

Wh/km (or mi) / range grossly mis-advertised, if not fraudulent... srsly.

EPA rates the car at 300wh/mi and yet the EPA rated range is 315 miles w 82kwh battery? 300wh x 315 miles = 94.5 kWh battery 260wh x 315 miles = 82 kWh battery Sounds fishy to me....however I did show 225 wh/mi during a fairly flat 17 mile commute mostly highway at 75+ mph with about 1 mile...

Wh/km (or mi) / range grossly mis-advertised, if not fraudulent... srsly.

So if the M3P has a 82kwh battery and an EPA rated range of 315, then in theory with a perfect scenario we should be seeing 260 wh/mi? Did I math correctly?

Wh/km (or mi) / range grossly mis-advertised, if not fraudulent... srsly.

I'm not sure if this was mentioned but the ratings on fueleconomy.gov say the M3P has an efficiency rating of 30kwh/100 mile. So what would that translate to wh/mile? According to EPA standards?

    Cheap 18 Inch Wheels for 2023 M3P?

235/45 pirelli winter tires. No issues clearing the performance brakes just need to make sure to use thin wheel balancing weights or have them in a good placement.
