I don't know this for sure 100%, but my understanding is that you can close the FWD by hand without causing any damage to them. Just like the lift gate.

BTW, I have also found that sometimes it doesn't display the P but it still works. On those occasions, I have been intently looking for the P, given up on it, only to find that when I put the car on reverse to park it myself, all of a sudden the touchscreen displays the controls for auto-park.

I ordered my P90D with accessory hitch and no tow option. I am pretty sure I had the Tow Mode button/slider on my touch screen at the time of delivery, and then at some point it disappeared. I don't know if it has been removed OTA because I haven't paid for the towing package, or if it would...

My family and I are very satisfied with the FWD. We find them extremely convenient for our day-to-day use, and haven't had any issues with them at all.

Exactly! I am one of them. My lower back sings odes to Elon and the whole design department at Tesla each and every time I put my toddler into his car seat in the X. The roof cutout provided by the FWD is absolutely amazing.

I agree with you, but trying to give @Drivin the benefit of the doubt, maybe what he meant is that he dislikes the fact that the sensor placement makes the doors ineffective at dealing with situations such as the OP's.
