It's officially been one month without my M3. Today I got word that the final part they were waiting on (my fender) has arrived, but they couldn't give me an estimated completion date yet. By the time I do get it back, it'll likely have been in the shop for more time than I actually had the car...

Does the insurance company have to go by quotes that I provide? I figured whatever they determined themselves was all they were obligated to pay out. At least without a drawn out legal battle...

I haven't looked into finding a laywer. The thought never occurred to me honestly. They decided to repair the car anyway, so I don't know if there's a point in lawyering up now.

Yeah, for real. The KBB value range for my car with a clean record was between $34k and $37k, and the trade in quote from Tesla for my car after having the accident was about $27k. Obviously I don't expect them to hand over that whole difference, but don't pretend that there may not be any...

I'm concerned I'll be losing money if they total this out. I owe about $25,000 on this. I put $14,000 down. I don't know if I'll get that back, plus if I buy a new car I won't be able to claim the EV rebate again.

I mentioned DV to my insurance, and they told me they won’t do that for me and I have to claim it directly with the other guy’s insurance. They provided the contact info for me. Not sure if that’s the usual procedure or not or if that affects their decision.

This was just the base SR+, list was $37,990 so I have to think I'm in 'total territory' here.

Okay, new update. They started taking the car apart and provided a new estimate. Now the repairs went from $10,300 to $23,600, so a major difference. Still waiting for my insurance to review that estimate...

Honestly I'm not sure yet. I've had some emails from the repair place, but my insurance has also been in contact with them directly. This morning I had an estimate attached to my claim, but I haven't spoke to anyone from insurance or the repair shop about the estimate yet.

Well, the verdict is in. They deemed it repairable, with an estimate of costing about $10,300. I made sure to bring it to a place listed on the Tesla website under body shops, so hopefully they'll do a good job and I won't have any issues. Timeframe is about 3 weeks.
