    Australian Model S pics

Hah! I was actually wondering about that, hoping that posting here would get a response ;) I was there for RubyConf too! Small world.

The D thread Australia & New Zealand

Pretty much everyone who has them has said they're a great improvement. I wouldn't be too worried!

Haha, I think you might be reading a little too much into this :D

    List of confirmed Australian Orders

Congratulations! Will be well worth the wait. Going from the i3 to a P85D... well, let's just say that's going to be a massive step up!

    Australian Model S pics

My first spot in the wild in Melbourne today - this great blue S85 parked at the Fed Square car park! Lucky owner :) First time seeing the blue in real life, it's much darker than I expected, pretty nice actually. Not sure about the Hybrid sticker they've got on the plate though!

    Model S 60 and 85 versions P Plate Approved

It's 130 kW per tonne. The S85 has a weight of 2.1 tonnes, so it should be able to have up to 274 kW of power before being classified as a restricted vehicle. It does, as you've noted, actually have more than that, but not by a huge margin. Should P platers be allowed to drive them? Probably...

    Tesla in Australia

Hey guys! Maybe we should remove the question mark in this thread's name now that we actually have teslas in australia? hehe
  9. S

    Australian Model S pics

Yeah, that only really applied to plasma displays.
  10. S

    2014 MODEL S 85KWH $82k **MUST SELL* - No Longer Available

I'd say this is probably $20k too high?

3-phase 32 amp recharge for model S with dual chargers

    Correct. As I mentioned.
  12. S

3-phase 32 amp recharge for model S with dual chargers

Yep, I think the OP was talking specifically about Tesla HPWC units though. I'd be interested to hear if anyone gets their Model S charging from a Better Place unit though!
  13. S

3-phase 32 amp recharge for model S with dual chargers

I don't think so, pretty sure the three-phase HPWC isn't available here yet. I'm pretty sure SteveWest has a third-party charger operating at 3 phase/32 amp on 240V in NZ though.

    Australian Model S pics

Yeah, but none that people actually want to drive... /ducks and runs ;)

    Australia Expansion

Nice, first brown delivered in Aus? You should post some pics :D

Model Ses for hire... when will we see more?

Yep - I just spent Christmas in NYC and was desperate to pay $500 or more a day for a few days to rent a Model S to go visiting friends in NJ - unfortunately I couldn't find anything in either state!
  17. S

    RHD Model 'S' - importing ?

That's amazing news! I bet even after paying the additional shipping and GST, it still works out cheaper than for an Australian buying locally.
  18. S

    2013 MODEL S P85 - No Longer Available

    Haha, well said.
  19. S

    List of confirmed Australian Orders

    Yep, and it's a P85D at that!
  20. S

MUST SELL SOON! 2014 Model S P85+ Fully Loaded And Then Some! - No Longer Available

Seller realised their price expectations were unrealistic, maybe?
  21. S

What car will you be coming from?

Yeah, definitely. The Model S is pretty unique in that it captures two markets pretty effectively - both the traditional luxury sedan market, as well as the tech/early-adopter/environmentally-conscious buyer. Personally, I'd never have dreamt of spending as much on a car as I would have on the...

    Looking for a S85 or P85

Wow! Steer well clear of this and any similar offers. You know the saying...
  23. S

I think this is a little outrageous! - No Longer Available

Now that is a recipe for "rude pointless comments". Please don't - if you want to sell the car, list it at a fair and reasonable price. Or put it on cars.com or something instead.
  24. S

    First NZ Model S

Wow, that's a super quick home charge.
  25. S

    2014 Model S 60 - SOLD

Hahaha, hilarious. Considering you can specify an identical new model today, with the new autopilot features and other upgrades, for $72,320 after the federal tax credit, plus any other state incentives, I'd say you have a snowball's chance in hell at that price.
  26. S

    Tesla in Australia

Pretty sure most on this forum in Melbourne or Sydney have driven a test vehicle by now! I drove the red one a few months back, was incredible. I can only imagine how much better the P85D would be as well, now.
  27. S

    First NZ Model S

Wow, nice work Steve. First Model S delivered to a customer in the region - super exciting! Enjoy your month or two of being the only one for many thousands of kilometres ;)

    List of confirmed Australian Orders

I also didn't have the air suspension before I cancelled my order - also with the 19" wheels. Apart from price, my justification was that the ride on 19"s was already supposed to be fairly squishy compared with the harder 21"s, and coming from a smaller, sportier car (currently driving an Audi...

    2013 Model S Performance P85 - Metallic Blue - No Longer Available

I'd say that price is $7-10k too high.
  30. S

Fully Loaded P85 Tesla Model S - No Longer Available

Way too high, particularly if it isn't a P85+.
  31. S

    Vanity Plates

Hah, that's great! The first one that I wouldn't feel awkward about having on a car. Nice work fitting the old ABC-123 plate format too.
  32. S

    List of confirmed Australian Orders

And quite possibly the only one to ever come to Australia, based on the recent discontinuation of green and brown!
  33. S

2013 P85 LOADED Tesla Model S Excellent Condition

If only I was allowed to! Alas, we have importation laws that makes this impossible. :p
  34. S

2013 P85 LOADED Tesla Model S Excellent Condition

I don't agree at all. You have to remember this is a community forum, not just a for-sale notice board for dealers to jump on and try to offload cars they've had traded in for high prices to unsuspecting buyers. Flagrant inflation of a vehicle's worth just clutters up the boards and makes it...

    List of confirmed Australian Orders

@timpoo - unfortunately I've also had to cancel my order, unfortunately the timing with delivery late this year / early next year wasn't going to work out so I'll have to miss out on the excitement of being one of the early adopters! Feel free to update your spreadsheet, I'll still be following...

    Trading in existing Cars

Well, there are a few roadsters still running about... wonder what they'd say about trading in those!

2013 Tesla Model S P85+ (sold) - No Longer Available

What a steal, can't believe this hasn't been snapped up yet.
  38. S

    First NZ Model S

I'd be surprised if it's unlimited, NZ suffers mostly the same issues with broadband that we do. You can get similar deals here, eg. Optus will sell you 15GB for $130 per year: Prepaid Mobile Broadband - Recharge Rates – Optus

    List of confirmed Australian Orders

Saw a few i8s going for a drive along Kings Way a couple of weeks ago, amazing looking car... but I'd still pick a P85D over one of them any day!
  41. S

    Tesla in Australia

Definitely seems to have been a price rise. Before this change, you could select the base model S60 (eg. no options, cheapest price of entry) at $95k in VIC. It now seems the same configuration is priced at almost $102k! Was stamp duty being shown before?
  42. S

    Tesla in Australia

Yep - and only US$4k upgrade for the S60/85!
  43. S

    Tesla in Australia

I wouldn't imagine it'd be too hard to find someone in NZ willing to take your current model off your hands for close to retail price, considering the difficulty in getting them to the country?
  44. S

First Signature and First Production Delivery in Australia

Really, you've had confirmation that your car is actually in Australia? And they aren't planning to let you have it for another couple of months? I find it hard to understand how you aren't on the verge of tearing Stone a new one :P
  45. S

    Wall connector shipment

    Indeed...
  46. S

    Tesla in Australia

Hey, at least it's there now! I note it's the lowest of the pure EVs on the list, which isn't that surprising considering the size, weight and performance of the vehicle. Still, hopefully this allows some people to take advantage of whatever meagre EV initiatives might exist in their respective...
  47. S

    Superchargers in Australia

Seriously, how many people do you expect to be driving across the Nullabor in a Model S? Of course it'll be the most trafficked routes first.
  48. S

    The iPhone app

If you have an US iTunes account you can install it and put in your Tesla account details, would be interesting to see when it's connected through to the car - might be a while before it's available in the Aus store, these things take a while to get approved.
  49. S

Model 'S' Tests drives in AUS now open to reserve (-:

Heh, I don't think there's many people left on this forum from Melbourne or Sydney who wouldn't have had a test drive already! Still, good news, spreading the awareness to a more public sphere.
