Yes, I recall the "Afterblow" dealer-only GM option. When I had my Bolt infotainment system looked at a month after I got the Bolt I had the Stealership enable Afterblow. Maybe that's why the Bolt never developrd the stink issue? Elon could easily add "Afterblow" to the Tesla OS... would solve...

The MY is a beast to back up... I can easily back up my kid's 2021 M3, and my wife's Honda Pilot (even with our 20' boat on a trailer behind it), but the poor visibility combined with tiny mirrors and crap backup cam/side-view cams make the MY just a PITA to back up. It's even worse at night...

I am using the new set of wide brackets which make the shelf very stable. I don't think the shelf was bouncing up and down because it's very solid, I think it was seeing some side to side slop on bad roads using the original metal brackets. The new brackets prevent side to side movement 100%...

I've had the shelf installed for several months now.. it definitely cuts down on rear noise when driving at speed, as the above poster mentioned.. it's hard to say how much. I use it mainly for the privacy it offers. I sometimes keep expensive surveillance cams, NVR's, laptops, etc.. back there...

A Rear DU is a labor intensive job ... but actually "easier" then a repaint situation as no finesse is needed other then using a torque wrench correctly and maybe some shims? If the rest of the car is acceptable... I'd get the DU replaced, in 6 months you'll forget it ever happened.

My daughter's 17 day old M3 just had the black screen/sleep issue after sitting unused for 6 days. A full reboot fixed it... like I told her "welcome to the Tesla family" ;)

^ IMO you do need the rear 10mm bolt... I did a test fit without it and it didn't really seem secure. Using the 10mm bolt made a huge difference in securing the flap to the rear fender.

I had success removing the rear fender bolts using a 1/4" drive ratchet with a 10mm socket. The short handle on the 1/4" ratchet prevents you from over torquing the bolt while removing and keeps the captive weld intact. FWIW- Tesla put thread locker on that bolt (IIRC it was the "yellow"...

You can probably get something close enough at a local auto parts store, nothing special about the Tesla supplied plugs. Just match the diameter and depth and you're good....

Mine was secured on both sides of the car... maybe the clip that secures the nut to the body broke because of all the thread locker? I worked for many years as an outboard mechanic dealing with salt-crusted/frozen bolts and got very good at being able to tell if a bolt was about ready to snap...

Tesla puts threadlocker fluid on those rear panel bolts... they take a lot of force to remove.

Yes, I bought those ^.. they look and fit great, I even replaced my front OEM Tesla flaps with these because they looked better and are a great fit. FWIW- the rears attach with the usual plastic anchors that use the existing holes on the car.. they also use the existing 10mm hex bolt located...
