Tesla all but confirms Cybertruck production delay until 2022

We can wait... I'd rather have it done right vs. fast.... I took my 2021 Model Y delivery in Nov 2020, I missed out on double pane glass, auto-dimming side mirrors, heated steering wheel, etc... all very nice value added features.

    Very Dim Backup/Reverse Lights?

^ it's not actually the existing reverse LED's that cause the problem... they are actually bright enough- it's the "night mode" brightness gain setting that needs adjustment. I tried three different sets of add-on LED lighting for the reverse lights... and every time they activated the auto-gain...

Tesla all but confirms Cybertruck production delay until 2022

... and keep in mind that Tesla's "current" 4680 cell design is only "tabless" on the Anode electrode- the Cathode electrode still has a conventional conductor tab. Moving forward, and according to Tesla's patent filing.. they will at some point introduce a real, completely "tabless" cell where...

Why did Tesla remove option to disable regenerative braking?

Exactly! When I mention to first time passengers that I never touched the brake pedal for the entire ride... they are always amazed and even skeptical. After driving for some time you get used to feathering the accelerator pedal to the point where it's no different than a regular ICE vehicle...

    12V battery replacement: Tesla Li-ion

^ probably one reason it's more expensive than the Li-Ion battery available from the Tesla parts catalog.

    12V battery replacement: Tesla Li-ion

Personally, if my standard L/A battery failed I would hold off replacing it with an alternative chemistry until a LifePO4 (vs. Li-Ion) battery is available. LifePO4 has many safety advantages over Li-Ion and it's natural nominal (3.2V) and charge (3.65V) voltages make it perfectly suited as a...

Tesla Claims Warranty is Void Due to Aftermarket Puddle Lights

I would love to have a full wiring schematic for the MY... it probably more closely resembles the internal traces of a multi-core CPU vs. an automobile. BMW is just as bad as Tesla when it comes to over-complicating their vehicles. Their wiring systems (and VANOS system) is a mess.

    Paint protection film

Perhaps your sales rep is a relative of Matthew Kellogg? Did he actually suggest the full rear is PPF'd? The "rear PPF" is just a small patch in front of the rear tires, you'll still need rear mud flaps to protect the body behind the tires. I would take a trip to your dealership and see what's...

Tesla Claims Warranty is Void Due to Aftermarket Puddle Lights

If it was indeed the case that the window motor grounds through the puddle light harness, it would be a pretty simple matter to add a backup body ground to the circuit between the motor and it's quick connector. But, I shutter to think what adding an independent ground to the window motor might...

    Strong odor when starting

Yes, I recall the "Afterblow" dealer-only GM option. When I had my Bolt infotainment system looked at a month after I got the Bolt I had the Stealership enable Afterblow. Maybe that's why the Bolt never developrd the stink issue? Elon could easily add "Afterblow" to the Tesla OS... would solve...

    Strong odor when starting

The old trick is to turn off the A/C and just have the fan run a couple of min before arriving at your destination this way it helps dry off the evaporator coils. I never tried the "put it in recirculate mode" part... I just leave it on regular outside air for the fan only mode. Some cars are...

How many will look into the F-150 Lightning?

You know, not everybody tows 150+ miles all the time (or even ever). We live 3 miles from the local ramp... I think the Lightning can handle that ;)

    Reverse Parking Issues

The MY is a beast to back up... I can easily back up my kid's 2021 M3, and my wife's Honda Pilot (even with our 20' boat on a trailer behind it), but the poor visibility combined with tiny mirrors and crap backup cam/side-view cams make the MY just a PITA to back up. It's even worse at night...

An honest take on Tesla / the Model Y

I flat told my SA in plain text email "any cosmetic issues that can not be corrected at time of delivery will cause an instant vehicle rejection". Luckily my Nov (2021 Model Year) MY was perfect when delivered. We just picked up my daughter's Red LR/AWD M3 one month ago and the paint/finish...

Trunk Shelf + Rear Sound Dampening

^ the black brackets are really nice IMO.. you basically don't even notice them back there, they blend in perfectly. Not to put Steve out of business... but once you add this shelf, you'll say "this should have come with my $50K car"! I took my shelf out the other day because I had some long...

Trunk Shelf + Rear Sound Dampening

I am using the new set of wide brackets which make the shelf very stable. I don't think the shelf was bouncing up and down because it's very solid, I think it was seeing some side to side slop on bad roads using the original metal brackets. The new brackets prevent side to side movement 100%...

Trunk Shelf + Rear Sound Dampening

I've had the shelf installed for several months now.. it definitely cuts down on rear noise when driving at speed, as the above poster mentioned.. it's hard to say how much. I use it mainly for the privacy it offers. I sometimes keep expensive surveillance cams, NVR's, laptops, etc.. back there...

    Service Center Issue

New Tesla Y defective - what would you do?

A Rear DU is a labor intensive job ... but actually "easier" then a repaint situation as no finesse is needed other then using a torque wrench correctly and maybe some shims? If the rest of the car is acceptable... I'd get the DU replaced, in 6 months you'll forget it ever happened.

Tesla Cybertruck reservations lower than expected

I ordered my CT on 3/20/2021... My RN is 114,680,650 where does that put me in line? Are we dropping the first 3 digits off the RN? If that's how it works.. the difference between @Scott Fairchild first week RN number of 243,541 and my 3/21 RN number of 680,650 is 466,109.

    Model Y Mud Flap Saga

^ IMO you do need the rear 10mm bolt... I did a test fit without it and it didn't really seem secure. Using the 10mm bolt made a huge difference in securing the flap to the rear fender.

Abstract Ocean - Cease & Desist From Tesla - Litigation Sale

Abstract Ocean - Cease & Desist From Tesla - Litigation Sale

I was just on RPMTesla... they must have gotten the same letter from Tesla... they are dumping "T" logo merch that must go by March 26th as well. Shame, as others have said... you can still get the same stuff on aliexpress, etc... and there's nothing "T" can do about that. I'm glad I ordered...

    Model Y Mud Flap Saga

I had success removing the rear fender bolts using a 1/4" drive ratchet with a 10mm socket. The short handle on the 1/4" ratchet prevents you from over torquing the bolt while removing and keeps the captive weld intact. FWIW- Tesla put thread locker on that bolt (IIRC it was the "yellow"...

    Why a Y Needs Mud Guards/Flaps

Mine was secured on both sides of the car... maybe the clip that secures the nut to the body broke because of all the thread locker? Glovebox Opening?

That wouldn't be very difficult to add actually. You just need a simple momentary contact switch and a 12v power source. Run 12v to the switch, then the 12v out of the switch to the existing latch mechanism. I actually planned on doing that with my MY, but I really have my sites set on the...
