We are a two car family. My 2023 RWD Model Y and my wife’s 2024 BMW X3. Everyone prefers my Model Y and it’s the car we always take as a family. The only time we have ever taken her car as a family was the day we went to pick up the Model Y.

I don’t think vehicle is supposed to be out until 2026…and I think they already sold a lot of pre-orders so if you didn’t place one you might not be able to get that car for a long time

My point was more the that OP is looking to buy a car. R2 won’t be available until 2026…that’s a long wait.

White on white adds thousands to the sticker price w/o adding any additional utility. It’s your money but you care more about the colors than a warranty?

My Model Y didn’t come with the hat shelf (I got a RWD) so if any of you have one you don’t want, I’ll take it (how bad it could it really be!?)

I haven’t any problems driving at night…driving in heavy rain, OTOH, has resulted in the system telling me I need to take over. I assume that’s because vision is being impaired.

Not mine but I think the dark Gemini wheels look good on dark colors as well…I’m not sure I prefer the dark but I don’t like them any less than the silver wheels. If I had to choose, I’m not sure which way I’d go on this one (though it looks like Tesla has removed that choice…for now).

If you are really just doing local trips and charging at home, that really removes one of Tesla’s major advantages (the Super Charging network). Assuming you have budget to buy either one: drive both; buy the one you prefer driving.

If you are eligible for the tax rebate, Model Y RWD is $35k; I think I’d rather spend another $5k and get a brand new car (w/warranty) than spend $30k for a used one.

Battery and drive units are already warrantied 8 years/100k miles, right?

Even my RWD (non-LR) came with floor mats. However, I have heard Model 3 RWDs do not!

Craigslist the one that’s not negative. They’ll do much better than Carmax, carvana, etc.

I bought a Miata when I first moved to California; I wanted a Honda S2000 but it was just a little out of my reach. Miatas are great (and amazing value) but comparing them to Porsches is silly. I went from the Miata to a 911; there’s really no comparison.

I loved both my Porsches and an EV 718 might be hard to resist at around 80k.

By definition, layoffs can’t be performance based. A layoff is a company eliminating a position because of a mistake it made in staffing. If it’s performance based, that’s being fired. Companies should never couch termination due to performance as layoffs.

I was a little on the fence but my free trial expired Wednesday and I haven’t subscribed. Took our first trip since then today and though I missed auto lane change, I’m not paying $ 1,200/year for it. For that money, I’ll change lanes myself and then re-engage auto steer when done.

One other point…school kids think Teslas are cool…even kids that don’t like cars recognize them and value them as a status symbol (but it’s not just about $…it’s about being environmentally friendly). I’ve seen the reaction that my kids’ friends have to my Model Y, “OMG! You guys got a Tesla...

I’m not going to watch that video but I don’t agree with the general assertion. Most (maybe all?) of my friends that have moved to EVs have never reverted back to ICE (or even hybrid). I was chatting with a friend just this AM that just picked up a Highland RWD three weeks ago to test out EVs...

I can totally see that and on surface streets (where the wheel is often rotated much further) it would be nearly impossible to give the correct directional w/o looking at the buttons; I can’t even really skip a song I don’t like while making a series of turns and the wheel rotated.

Rivian looks like every other truck aside from its headlights…and I might add it looks very nice (unlike CT).

Has she test driven a car w/o stalks? I didn’t find it as bad as I thought I would (and on the highway wouldn’t care at all).

I’d guess he needs a new bumper cover and repair any damage they find when the remove the damaged cover. And you need a new bumper cover (and possibly damage underneath), hood, and repaint the front half of your car…not cheap. In your place, I’d just call my insurance carrier and let them deal...

I think this must vary a lot from location to location. My experience picking up the car was 10/10.

At least according to their web site, the LR RWD also has the downgraded stereo; half the speakers and amps and no sub.

I just don’t think air conditioned seats will be worth it…especially not in New England.

At current Model Y pricing and interest rate, it’s hard to see how you could end under water on whatever loan you take out now.

At $20/month, I think for sure I’d just subscribe…at $50/month, I’m not sure. The visualizations have gotten better even in the brief time I’ve had the car (Jan 2024) and they seem to improve as FSD improves so I think your hunch is correct: FSD improvements will trickle down to basic AP.

I also would bet the price is coming down not up…but I don’t like FSD enough to have FOMO if I bet wrong on this one. I’ve tried to figure out at what price I’m a buyer (or a subscriber) but haven’t been able to pin myself down to a number.

I think the end of quarter discounts might be the better deal…of course 0.99% + the end of quarter discounts would be better still…at that rate, I’d finance the car too.
