    NEW Model 3 Highland review!

Interesting. Maybe this aspect will be different for USA, and have the option. Maybe it's universally not wanted in Norway or other areas like this?

    NEW Model 3 Highland review!

I think all other manufacturers are realizing how difficult it is to create a commodity product to compete with Tesla. Some, like GM, severely underestimated what it takes to make a legitimate ev. While others like Hyundai, have done much better but just can't compete when you look at the...

    Tire Cost > Electricity Cost

As simple as a tire rotation is, and the opportunity to check balance and have tires inspected it's just stupid not to do it. You can ignore good practices and that's everyone's choice. Knowing that and not doing it doesn't make you smart. It makes you stupid, or just busy and car maintenance...

Phone key doesn’t work unless phone is unlocked

Happens to me. So annoying. Never had an issue until I got a new iPhone. I know what you mean, you have to open your phone. it's a PITA. Only happens sometimes but regularly. Only thing I haven't done is delete and reinstall the app- but will try that next.

    NEW Model 3 Highland review!

I'm simply speaking to the changes Tesla made on the Highland compared to the current Model 3. From all the reviews, Tesla seems to have improved ride quality and handling while addressing durability of common problem areas like the upper ball joints. Tesla saved a ton of development money by...

    Tesla 2023 Model Y bricked

Really hope you get proper resolution from Tesla. This is really frustrating to hear and you deserve better- we all do as owners. Thank you for relaying the process, it's often more informative to read these terrible experiences than anything else. Hope you will update again, once you get back...

    NEW Model 3 Highland review!

Automakers make minor changes all the time. They change suspension parts all the time. There are many times where two parts that look the same will not fit different model years, especially a refreshed model. The Highland has a all new uca's, larger upper ball joint, new steering knuckle...

    NEW Model 3 Highland review!

New forged uca and possibly larger ball joint is a clearly visible difference in your photo. Below is the current 3 washer fill location and at the bottom is Highland with that area empty, washer fill relocated. Whether that has to do with new strut towers or clearance for slightly different...

    NEW Model 3 Highland review!

from a video I saw, the coil buckets look very different from the current Model 3 and they moved the washer fluid away from the top of the ds coil perch. Presumably because a new shape and it no longer fits there.

Nice nice comparison photos The updated front and rear are nice. Definitely needed the refresh.

    NEW Model 3 Highland review!

It's on the same platform but there is an all new interior, and mechanical changes. All those new pieces, though relatively minor, are Tesla's weak spot. So the concern of first year fit and finish as well as quality of the new components is a valid and very legitimate point. History is a good...

Going crazy about Performance brakes? [Tesla using caliper covers on rear brakes of Y performance after supplier switch]

Go to Tesla. No one here can do anything about your complaint. You knew about the rest of your complaints before you bought the car. As well, the brakes are well documented online. They just put covers on the rears, same as LR brakes. Fronts? Are they different or the same Brembos as LR's...

Model Y standard range battery LFP?

I've always said Tesla has been too slow with introducing improvements and upgrades. They are all about streamlining costs, not creating value through improved build quality. But who am I to argue, they have no competition when it comes to value for $ for an ev. On this particular topic...

Model Y standard range battery LFP?

I guess the factory over there picked up... THere are a couple factors I listed, but ramping up changes at one factory with 50% less production is one of them.
  21. E

Model Y standard range battery LFP?

No, that's a good thing. They rollout in smaller volumes to validate production quality and manufacturing. China is also a more competitive EV market. Tesla has to give more value. China sells about 77k Teslas in 2022. US sales are around 200k.
  22. E

Model Y standard range battery LFP?

It's not 'fast' but it's no where near 'slow'. 6.6 sec times are considered quick for a car, certainly a small suv. 6.6sec 0-60 is right in line with every luxury ice/hybrid sports suv and sports sedan up to $50-60k+. EV6 is about 7 sec Audi Q5 is about 6.7 Std Y is still within a couple tenths...

    Model Y blown pyro fuse

in what situation would a pyro fuse blow? How would you diagnose it and be sure you're not causing more damage by installing another one if it is blown? In my experience, fuses blow to protect components and the system from a fire or short. So the blown fuse is a protective design. *this is not...

Model Y Reverse UFO Sound Change/Disable

The regulation came about years ago when EV's were uncommon. There were accidents and a lot of scrutiny about emerging mass ev adoption and zero noise was very novel at that time. For safety reasons, I really think the noise emitter is a good thing. Not just on ev's but any vehicle nowadays...

2023 AWD or LR Model Y

I guess it's possible the cybertruck uses the 4680 battery and mega castings and they need to divert resources. It would be surprising if they just let the megacasting presses sit idle. Maybe slow sales on that model? Some deeper problems they need to correct? So many questions.... With...

Do Model Y windshield and windows have UV protection?

    NEW Model 3 Highland review!

The stalk for the PRNDL is great for parking and parallel parking situations. No need to explain why a stalk is great for turn signals and wipers. No stalks is not a benefit. The only reason it's done is that it's a large cost savings measure. Is it the end of the world? Obviously not. Tesla...

    NEW Model 3 Highland review!

I agree the changes are enough that I will wait. Any educated guesses on MSRP yet? When Mercedes actually allows owners to open the hood, i'll take them seriously. NEW Model 3 Highland review!

There is obviously the typical cost cutting measures with the removal of the stalks. This reduces costs significantly. The stalks, assemblies, and assembly line time is reduced. I'm sure moving it all to software will save them millions. Same goes for the simplification of the front bumper...

    NEW Model 3 Highland review!

I really like the updates. These are the refinements Tesla should have been doing the last few years. I'm sure the next Y will have similar upgrades. I like them, except the lack of stalks. Wonder what the US price will be. I was going to buy a 3 but will wait now.

    Crash testing rear seat occupants

This is interesting. I always assumed the rear seats would be safer in a frontal impact because of the distance but it seems they are worse off. Now they are testing for rear seat occupants and not many are getting a good score. However, Tesla Y is one of the few that score a GOOD (highest rating)

Just completed 10 day Road Trip with 2023 Model Y RWD - Mixed feelings

Legacy ev's all benchmarked Tesla. Look at the earliest effort like the Mach E, which was, in design, a Ford Y. All the Tesla characteristics I mention, the legacy makers have copied and benchmarked. I never said the legacy makers copied the drivetrain because they didn't. That's where Tesla...

    DIY tire rotation

any good jackstand are ANSI or ASME certified - each is minimally rated 150-200% of weight rating for each jackstand. 6ton ASME pair of jackstands- each stand is capable of holding 6 tons. Anyone recommending using an impact gun as a torque wrench is someone I never want touching my vehicles.

    DIY tire rotation

placing jackstands at suspension mounting area is acceptable. They are holding up the entire vehicle. It's better from the mount side and not the arm side, but wherever you get good purchase is best. The red car is just fine for a cross-rotation pattern. lifting the entire side of the vehicle...

    Height Adjust Trunk?

There was one time I came **THIS** close to hitting a sprinkler pipe in a Target parking lot. I had set the height a bit lower for the wife, and thank god because it would have smashed into pipe at max setting. Scared me enough to always look at parking garages or anywhere with a ceiling!
