EarthX ETX900 12V Lightweight Lithium Battery Tesla Model 3

Probably a good idea to install one on my EarthX to monitor it as well. Where did you get the monitor?

EarthX ETX900 12V Lightweight Lithium Battery Tesla Model 3

At least with Fords the charging algorithm can be manipulated to give the battery a full charge to extend the battery life. I wonder if Ford does that from the factory to sell more batteries! lol

    Model 3 Performance Unplugged Coilovers

He meant bronze for 65mm. Blue is 60mm and Green is 70mm. Here is my color combo! :)

Anyone actually tested Unplugged vs MPP or Ohlins?

One of the best dampers with one of the best linear rate springs available on the market today. If you don't mind giving up some of the performance, custom tailored spring rates can give you the soft ride you are looking for.

EarthX ETX900 12V Lightweight Lithium Battery Tesla Model 3

A customer of mine had the original AGM battery in his 2008 BMW 135i for 14 years before I replaced it earlier this year if you can believe that! He says as soon he is home the battery maintainer is hooked up. From experience AGM is good for 7 in most German vehicles and lead acid around 5. The...

    Model 3 Performance Unplugged Coilovers

yes, and no. The front will be perfectly fine, but the rear you may not find enough ride height. Max out the rear adjuster lowers a Model 3 about 1/4 to 3/8", that means 1/2" or more on the Y. If you are looking to lower the Y, it will work fine. Running near stock height? Call TEIN to confirm.

Anyone actually tested Unplugged vs MPP or Ohlins?

That would be a 4-way damper through MCS, JRZ, Penske or Ohlins TTX line. Got $15K to spend? For ride quality you just need the best dampers you can afford and near stock spring rates. Ohlins R&T with stock rates will ride better over all the sharp little bumps because of the DFV technology. If...

    Model 3 Performance Unplugged Coilovers

If there is enough adjustment height wise, you are good to go! The minimal weight increase shouldn't matter if you are after ride quality. The performance of the coilovers may suffer a bit though.

    Possible To Add More Panels?

I have 4.08kw system with one Power Wall. I originally wanted the next size up solar with two Power Walls, but Tesla said I don't even use 1/2 of what I'll end up producing and told me no. It's a paid and not leased. I had no idea why they wouldn't just sell me the bigger system with two Power...

Ohlins R&T landing in the USA as soon as May

One more thing may help you understand it better is that the rear damper and spring are divorced. Because of the motion ratios, the damper has and advantage controlling the spring so less of a reason to revalve it as well. For the standard rates going in either direction there is no need to...
  11. Motion122

Ohlins R&T landing in the USA as soon as May

For the front it makes more difference than the rear because of the motion ratio of the suspension. Most of the ride quality will be in the dampers anyway.
  12. Motion122

Ohlins R&T landing in the USA as soon as May

8/11 are their performance rates? Those rates on good dampers should ride like a Caddy. I am on 9/12 with MCS 2WNR and on softer settings the vehicle rides like a factory M3P, but with a lot more control.
  13. Motion122

Ohlins R&T landing in the USA as soon as May

Is it 8/10? The front of the Model 3 exhibits lots of dive and pitch and on top of that the motion ratio of the front suspension likely yield that spring rate choice by Ohlins Sweden.
  14. Motion122

Ohlins R&T landing in the USA as soon as May

Yes, you can make it super comfortable using twin tube dampers with close to factory spring rates. Ohlins DFV can nearly achieve the same ride quality without having to give up performance through the use of the DFV and expansion needle. DFV will soak little sharp bumps like the rumble strips...
  15. Motion122

Ohlins R&T landing in the USA as soon as May

If you look at the rear 5 link and where the spring sits and its motion ratio, 12kg is relative soft for the car. Anything less with a ~200mm length spring could bind. However, with Swift you will get a big more stroke before it does. Completely agree! Ride quality is very subjective. Stiff to...
  16. Motion122

Ohlins R&T landing in the USA as soon as May

One reason you see most coilovers will bump up the rate because of reduced available compression travel.
  17. Motion122

Ohlins R&T landing in the USA as soon as May

Even at 10kg or 14kg they are still good to go!
  18. Motion122

Ohlins R&T landing in the USA as soon as May

Ohlins R&T DFV dampers can handle spring rates 30% in either direction without revalving(This came from their automotive brand rep. Jake Thompson). Maybe an overkill? I am sure 6 months of 7-post shaker rig, road and circuit testing should give them a good idea where the base valving should be.
  19. Motion122

Ohlins R&T landing in the USA as soon as May

I think what he was trying to say basically the vehicle in mid-corner at a steady state, the dampers at the point don't do anything unless there is a bump, driver input, etc. Stock model 3 and most of the cars out on the road today lack damping. What these comfort focused coilovers are just...
  20. Motion122

Ohlins R&T landing in the USA as soon as May

Yes, in long sweeper the damper is out of the picture. No, the Ohlins DFV dampers aren't compression adjustable, but compression does change around 10% with each rebound adjustment.
  21. Motion122

Ohlins R&T landing in the USA as soon as May

No, a damper does not control the overall roll, but rebound damping does slow down the roll rate. On compression adjustable dampers many would use it to control roll, bottoming or keep the car high to compensate for the lack of springs, NOT the right way but will get you by in a bind.

    Cheap compression rod bushing mod

Fill it with urethane. Did that back in the days when rules didn't allow bushings changes in SCCA, but no mention of adding material to the existing. Someone will likely come out of a HD replacement bushings soon. Meyle did years ago with BMW E46 lollipop bushings, they just called it their HD...

EarthX ETX900 12V Lightweight Lithium Battery Tesla Model 3

Well, this "tech" said he went through Tesla factory training. lol Perhaps Tesla training to replace parts instead of pinpoint the cause of the problem.

EarthX ETX900 12V Lightweight Lithium Battery Tesla Model 3

What I didn't mention was that tech also said to use a battery maintainer when vehicle is not being driven. I'll hit up another tech the next time I am there. Just reporting my findings to date. Looks like he is drawing down the battery too much, similar to the errors with a low/defective OE...

EarthX ETX900 12V Lightweight Lithium Battery Tesla Model 3

13 months update. No issues. I actually went to the service center and asked to speak with one of the techs regarding why the OEM lead acid often fails prematurely. He said not sit in the vehicle with the HVAC on while the vehicle is supercharging or just charging for that matter. He also said...

  33. Motion122

Adjusting caster to create heavier off-center steering?

That is not a whole lot of caster from the factory at only 4 degrees. I am seeing most cars right around 6 or more. Low speed rebound damping isn't going to help with your situation. You can compensate the easiest with higher static height, then with higher spring rates. increase gas charge and...

    2.5+ degree camber tire wear?

Yes, I agree. Dynamically you will get some toe out when running zero toe. What is funny is that I have always done alignments with strings, tape measure and a camber gauge. Put the car on a machine to verify if my method is accurate enough and ended up stating I have zero toe when I have it at...

Adjusting caster to create heavier off-center steering?

Added caster on my ride but for the camber gain on the outside tire. No notice in steering effort that I could feel. BTW, I have the UP arms so cater can be easily adjusted in small increments.

Unplugged Performance Adjustable Front Upper Arms Installed and Thoughts

if your ride height is set to MPP recommendations, then you should look at the upper control arms. Some of them don't clear the upper shock mounting area(if you look at MPP & UP, they are both curved for clearance).

It's only a recommendation , not the absolute. Some of the reasons people are popping tires and cracking wheels.

    Tein flex Z awd

Very minimum drop but also near the max. allowed with the Tein Flex Z coilovers. Front lower 3/4" and rear 1/4" to give the vehicle some front rake. Alignment was done a few hundred miles later. With front camber right around -1.5 both side and same with the rear. Set for slight toe-in for...

Anything better then pilot sport 4s tires?

Conti's just are just as good in my opinion. One pound lighter in the 265/35/R18 size. They ride better at the same 45 psi cold. They also seem quieter on both smooth and rough roads. Takes expansion joints far better. A couple of negatives though. They don't seem as responsive as the PS4S as...

Drove into the parking structure and took a look today. The exact same area is still blocked off almost a year later. Nothing new, nothing to report, and nothing has changed. Still think the rooftop is a better location for chargers though.

Tein Flex Z front shock mount
