News for Model X owners with the dreaded shudder

BMW does. My i3 was under factory warranty. I told the dealer what was wrong (charge port wouldn't lock so it wouldn't DC fast charge). They said there would be a $150 diagnostic fee no matter what.

Is MY Demand down in US because people are waiting for restoration of the federal tax credit?

SR stands for "Standard Range", not "Short Range". I don't blame you. A lot of people call it that. Tesla needs to change the nomenclature on those because short-range sounds bad and it's not the case. 250 miles (or whatever) is far from short.

Your Top 5 Anticipated Supercharger Locations

@mociaf9 So most of my hopes came true 3-years later. Philadelphia how has two sites, Mt Laurel is near the Maple Shade site, Gloucester Twp is near Deptford site, King of Prussia has said "coming soon" for years so that one still hasn't come to fruition and, of course, the GA locations are great.

    Climate Change Denial

This thread is starting to look like a flat Earth argument. One side is scientific fact and should be the consensus while the other side just can't part from their belief/opinion and keeps pushing their false narrative. It's kinda fun to watch actually. I'm entertained by it. Carry on.

Anyone else worried that V3 Superchargers not being shared might be a mistake?

Does Tesla actually promise/guarantee this or is it more of an "as low as" type of statement? I find it unlikely that they would promise this, especially when there are so many variables that can affect charge speed.

Charging on 110v outlet and cold weather

From my experience in sub-freezing temps, the car will start charging after about an hour on 120V outlet. After the hour, it starts to ramp-up and will eventually get to you 4 or 5 MPH rate. I'm sure there's a low temperature point at which the 120V will never be able to provide enough power to...

    Ford Mach-e

I think the Mach-E will sell well to Ford fans and some non-Tesla drivers. While I like the Mach-E (a lot), having owned Tesla, I don't think I would be able to switch. Dog Mode, Camp Mode, 360 Sentry Mode & dash cam, the phone app, etc. have locked me in. Also, not having to haggle with a...

    Mustang Mach-e positive reviews

The Mach-E will grab the attention of non-EV buyers and Ford fans. The smart ones will compare it to Tesla and likely choose Tesla in the end so competition actually can potentially help Tesla. I like the Mach-E (a lot), but I wouldn't choose it over a Tesla.

    Supercharger Charging Speed SLOW

How do you know the battery was preconditioned and up to temperature? Was regen fully available? Were there dots on the regen bar showing it was limited? If so, then the battery was still too cold. Also, it is possible that you had a defective supercharger. I have seen where a particular stall...

    Supercharger Charging Speed SLOW

This thread made me think of an idea for Tesla....when supercharging, if the battery is cold, a message should pop-up explaining why it's charging slowly and also how to precondition the battery. I would bet most owners are not aware of this. It could also explain the stall-sharing thing of...

How important is home charger really?

Regarding 110V charging, don't forget you have the weekend to add extra range since you presumably won't be commuting. That could make-up for any losses during the week. A weekend of 110V charging can equal a supercharger session basically.

How important is home charger really?

OP has a Model 3 and those charge at 4 to 5 miles per hour on 110V outlets. Model S and X are only 3 miles per hour (less efficient vehicles vs. Model 3).

Are you tired of getting wet or freezing?

Sometimes just waking-up your phone does the trick. Depending on your phone, it might close-off the Bluetooth when in battery-save mode. The once or twice my car didn't unlock, I just woke-up my phone and it unlocked immediately.

"TSportline" Buyer beware! Update: Tire service confirms irregular tire sound. Escalated to Michelin

My new Model Y's range SUCKS

Right...use seat heaters instead of cabin heat and your efficiency will improve greatly. Also, if you precondition the cabin while connected to shore power, you'll use less battery energy for heat.

Tesla needs to move to CCS in North America

From my recollection of the situation, it came down to the consortium taking too long and Tesla needed to get moving on a solution so they developed their own standard. Otherwise, Tesla probably would have adopted the standard.

  39. gavine

    Regen Braking Question

BMW i3 mimics regen by automatically using the brakes when the battery is full or too cold for true regen. It makes it more seamless. The first time you drive a Tesla without regen after being used to having it, it's a little jarring when it happens. Tesla's approach is more efficient because...

Help! My wife wants my Model 3.

Used i3's are far from over-priced and they are not shi*ty EV's. Personally, I'd take an i3 over any Subaru as a second car, but that's just me. If Subaru made an EV, I'd change my stance. Also, the OP was asking about this because he obviously wants another EV.

Help! My wife wants my Model 3.

I have to say, I'm quite surprised how many people are suggesting that you keep your Subaru. They, of all people, should understand your desire to move-away from gas and go all electric. I have had a Model S, a Model X and Model 3 and a BMW i3 BEV. While the i3 is far from a Tesla, it's still...

    Autoweek question about battery longevity

And even after 300K or 500K miles (or whatever), the battery will still work. It'll just have less range than when new so a 400 mile Model S sold today might have 250 miles of range after 500K miles. But, 250 miles of range is still VERY usable and more than many current EVs being produced...

With the new refresh on model 3s and new ranges. Will older models get a range increase?

SR stands for "Standard Range", not "Short Range". 262 miles is far from short. No offense. I've seen many people call the SR the "Short Range". Tesla probably should have come-up with better nomenclature for that model.

Does anyone else still prefer to drive their gas cars?

I have been driving rental gas cars a bunch recently. They are bad in many ways compared to EVs but what I hate most about them is their transmissions. I definitely understand why they call them slush boxes.
