    Towing with Model Y P

Put towing shackles on the rings, then you can have the chains secured below the bumper.

Delivery of MY LR and/or P regrets ?

Pretty sure it’s been solved. A valve in the system wasn’t closing fully, and the software patch was designed to alter the firmware of that valve so that it would close properly. In some cases damage resulted to the rest of the system (hence why the software didn’t appear to solve all affected...

Model Y wheel for winter tyres in the GTA

I had to try to force my X to slide, so no, regen is highly unlikely to cause sliding.

Anybody receive the camera upgrade required for FSD in Canada?

I officially hate you. 😜🤣 As per usual, looks like the rollout starts in central Canada, and will slowly expand from there.

    Canadian CHAdeMO charging

And the app now shows an option for CCS upgrades, with appointments to start in 2023.

    Financing Tesla vehicles in Canada

More that they’re smart and not interested in dealing with used cars / trade ins. Thus they disincentivize people selling to them. Not being part of the dealership networks, it’s a LOT harder for Tesla to off load used cars.

    CCS1 adapter from A2Z

A couple people have them out here on the coast. Seems to be good up to 150 kWh, and I’ve heard nothing about any issues thus far.

Anybody receive the camera upgrade required for FSD in Canada?

Another 2017 here and I’m still waiting as well. No word, although I did try putting in a service request for the upgrade to see if it helped the process along (doesn’t appear to).

Cost of 18" OEM Aero Rim

    Aftermarket is MUCH more affordable.
  10. Vawlkus

Delivery of MY LR and/or P regrets ?

It’s not the same, but I do regret not getting the P100D Model X. Woulda been another $20-30k, but I would have enjoyed the performance boost over my 100D.

Canadian Model S and X Owner Thoughts...

They have to appear to at least fight the “rich people toys” argument that gets levied against EVs en mass, thus taxing the more expensive models gives government a “see, we’re hard on the rich” talking point while providing incentives to the less expensive versions.

    CCS Adapter 1537264-00-B

    The ECU.

    PPF and Ceramic Coating

Necessary no. A good idea, yes. It all depends on what you plan to do with your car, and the environment you’re in.

Model Y 19" All Weather Tires

If you don’t mind ordering in, then PMC Tire in Quebec has a very large selection, and can adapt to the different rim sizes for pretty much all Teslas.

Canadian Model S and X Owner Thoughts...

TBF, I can see the tax applying to the S and X, they are luxury EVs after all. It shouldn’t apply to others besides stuff like Lucid.

    Wiki Canadian Trip Planning

Chademo or CCS is a good idea, depending on where in Canada you want to travel.

    Atlantic Canada Superchargers

Stopped by at the Big Stop in Westville NS. Sorry to say there’s no sign of it starting there. Parking lot is kinda small, so I’m not sure if it’s a viable location without some alterations, unless there’s a different Big Stop location nearby that I didn’t see.

    Canada - FSD rollout

    *sigh* still no camera upgrade

    FSD price increase - AGAIN!

You will NEVER get that. It may drive you home, but you will still be on the hook for anything that goes wrong.

Travelling in Maritimes, looking for advice

It’s better on the hotel front now, but it’s a lot more congested at the DCFC this year. We’re seeing multiple occasions where there are 8 to 10 EVs queued up for that charger.
  21. Vawlkus

    FSD price increase - AGAIN!

Standard FOMO pricing. Get it while it’s cheaper, since the price is going up soon.
  22. Vawlkus

Any news about costing by kWh instead of by time to supercharge?

While costs may not change, there will be LESS incentive to charge slowly, since if you charge by the kw, it’s in a chargers best interests to go as quickly as possible to get more customers charging. Only when you charge by the minute does it make sense to charge at slower rates, since you want...

Travelling in Maritimes, looking for advice

Charging isn’t terrible here in the Maritimes, but you would need a chademo to really get around. Currently, I would recommend not planning to go up to Cape Breton as there is only one charger on that route and it’s getting mobbed pretty heavily. With new superchargers at New Minas, the...

Shame that doesn’t apply in Canada.

Canadian Model S and X Owner Thoughts...

2017 Model X owner here. I will never buy anything BUT another Tesla, and I already know what my next vehicle will be (CT of course). I have no serious quibbles with Tesla service, even out where we still don’t have a dedicated Tesla service center yet. The Ranger service is still a real...

Dent and scratch in back bumper and panel while backing

The fender is not the problem. His rear quarter panel is mangled, and that’s aluminum

Dent and scratch in back bumper and panel while backing

I think he’d need to file a police report to go that route, and as it’s a crime to make a false police report, it’s highly not recommended 😝
  28. Vawlkus

    CCS Adapter 1537264-00-B

That’s about the 4th time we’ve all thought that. 😝 Hopefully we’re right this time, my chademo is getting worn out from use. 😜
  29. Vawlkus

    Atlantic Canada Superchargers

Glad you had a fun time. Most of the bottlenecking seems to be occurring along the way to Cape Breton, here in NS at least. We definitely need more DCFCs though, even if only more plugs at existing locations.

Hertz Employees Taking Up Entire Superchargers - Charging to 100%!

Can’t get my phone to open the link (stupid iPhone 🤬), but I’d be very surprised if Hertz was getting super chargers. It just seems wasteful to me when L2 chargers would be a lot easier and cheaper, both in initial cost and upkeep.

Hertz Employees Taking Up Entire Superchargers - Charging to 100%!

Apparently because they can charge cars in their lot after drop off, Hertz has made it their EV return policy to not require cars be dropped off at high levels of charge.
  32. Vawlkus

    Atlantic Canada Superchargers

If nothing is heard beforehand, I might take a trip up at the end of the month and scout around a little. TBH, I don’t expect to find any starts until the beginning of Sept, it’s just too close to the wrap up on New Mina’s for Spark to be able to fit Westville into their schedule. They do...

    CCS Adapter 1537264-00-B

Quite likely, the only question is the proverbial “when” 😝
  34. Vawlkus

Canadian Model 3 delivery estimates for new orders are already into June.

I think the cutoff for the mobile charger was for orders placed after mid May, so that’s likely why you have one.
  35. Vawlkus

Dent and scratch in back bumper and panel while backing

It’s highly unlikely that a dent like that will lead to any electrical issues. Worst case is you might get some spurious readings from the ultrasonic sensor on that corner if it’s misaligned (can’t tell from the pic). Tesla certified shops are the better choice for repairs, if only because...

Hertz Employees Taking Up Entire Superchargers - Charging to 100%!

That presumes Hertz didn’t make free supercharging a condition of their purchase. We don’t know.
  37. Vawlkus

    Collision question

I doubt water will be any issue. Worst case it might blow the fuse for the headlight (what it’s designed for). Everything else is sealed anyway.

Does ChargePoint RFID card work on FLO / BC Hydro networks?

RFID cards in Apple wallets are hit and miss for functionality. Here in NS none of the ChargePoint installs can respond to my phone when I use the RFID card, but the app or physical cards work fine. YMMV.
  39. Vawlkus

    Atlantic Canada Superchargers

Rats. I just loaned out my chademo yesterday, else I’d have offered to let you borrow it.

    Sentry Mode

It happens more south of the border, but it’s not unheard of here. More often I see kids getting excited seeing a Tesla than people taking selfies though. 🤣

Car is sounding like it is straining, in the wrong gear?

I did manage to wear out a couple bushing on my X doing slalom races. 😝🤣

Toronto to Claryville, NY next month.

Apparently you missed the joke. The driver is fully capable of picking out picnic spots. The car lacks the capability of deciding where a nice spot to stop for sightseeing is.

  46. Vawlkus

Toronto to Claryville, NY next month.

Probably looking for cool things to look at along the way. Tesla handles the route, but it can’t always pick out picnic spots. 🤣
  47. Vawlkus

Car is sounding like it is straining, in the wrong gear?

Might be just a bushing/bearing binding on the axle. Really hard to say without more info. Could just be the AC straining in the heat 😜
  48. Vawlkus

ESA Permit on Homeowner-Installed Tesla Wall Charger?

If you setup more than a 50 amp breaker, yes.
  49. Vawlkus

Tesla recommends cleaning and lubricating all brake calipers every 12 months or 20,000 km

BMW charges that to turn on the heated seats for a month. 🤣

    Supercharger - Castlegar, BC

Typically that sort of thing is worked out before the transformer box is installed, so new poles and lines can be put in place. Could be someone missed a memo I guess, but I’m betting it’s something else.
