Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I have been concerned about Tesla’s direction for a while, today doesn’t give me any joy. Failure to learn lessons ( or even acknowledging we have a problem) will make the recovery more difficult.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

With regards to advertising, I think some people aren’t aware of Tesla vehicles, can afford them and are not put of by the leaders behaviour ( or not aware of it) and this is where targeted advertising will help. My idea is Tesla find an area say an hours drive from a service centre. Where...

Tesla reduces output of Y and 3 in Shanghai

Until Tesla produces the smaller cheaper vehicle sales are going to stagnate. The other issue is that Tesla doesn’t seem to care about the second hand market. Combined with the great unknown about what percentage of batteries will fail at what years and mileage plus the potential costs of a...

I agree with you, just like the supercharger, more service centres need to be built regularly.

Third battery has failed - need advice

Please let us know what you decide to do. This issue is the main risk when buying out of warranty vehicles and if Tesla treats customers who bought new vehicles like this imagine how they will treat owners of used vehicles. In my opinion they need to be more transparent about the whole...

Third battery has failed - need advice

Can you make an argument that because of 3 battery failures it may because of another reason? Tesla may not want to investigate but could you get an independent person to check the vehicle to see if it has any other flaws effect lead to battery failure?

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

It has made sense for a while, the problem is we don’t have a timescale.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

This is the big issue, some unlucky folk are going to buy a vehicle out of warranty and the next day the battery goes. As a result I expect the older, higher mileage vehicles price to continue to fall and buyers will become savy enough to to ask about how the vehicle was charged.

    Residuals / Depreciation

By chance I have been looking at autotrader for used M3s and the £20k seems to low. You could probably get £25-30k for it in a private sale. Even then that is a big hit. Tesla’s pricing strategy hasn’t helped plus I think the used market isn’t as robust compared to ice vehicles for various...

Long Term Battery Costs, Fears, and Serviceability

Great thread, I have been thinking about this subject as well. For second hand buyers a great risk is what if your battery fails shortly after purchase. I know that most vehicles if charged overnight or not supercharged every day can last for 2-300,000 miles or more. But some people will be...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Who are the lawyers who sued? What backgrounds do they have? Have they tried to pull this stunt with any other company? What are the odds they will get billions? If that happens can Tesla appeal ?

New battery cost for a model 3.

Sorry I didn’t make it clear, I am asking about the high voltage battery.

New battery cost for a model 3.

Has anyone had a battery replaced for a model 3 in the UK? If so what did it cost and how was the experience with Tesla ? Does anyone know what a new battery would cost?

    Project Redwood (Compact Crossover)

I hope this is true, in the past Elon has been addicted to announcing products and specs when they are no where near ready. As well as giving unrealistic timelines. I noticed on the call when he gave the timeline for the smaller vehicle he said these are my timelines and I have been known to...

    Delaware to Texas Incorporation

That is absolutely mental, if something like that is awarded, expect a million attorneys to look at been able to sue Tesla for anything. I find it astounding that very rarely CEOs who completely mess up companies have to give back lavish compensation packages whilst allegedly because the board...

    Elon Compensation Package

How much extra taxes will Tesla have to pay as a result of moving to Texas ?
  25. M

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

What the information provided for this ruling confirms is that aspects of the company are run on Elons whims and the board is composed of yes men and women. That has some advantages such as being able to make decisions (for the better or worse) quickly and may be fine for a private company but...
  26. M

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Unfortunately it seems like Elon will decide the response and the board will go along with it which is what the judge used to void the package.
  27. M

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

This is a perfect chance to come up with a new bigger package with a longer time frame. (This time hire even more expensive lawyers to judge proof it)
  28. M

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I see, seems to me the judge has voided it on a technicality. Elon and the board should acknowledge they need to be more competent to meet legal requirements.
  29. M

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I was confused by this ruling as shareholders approved the package and how come all the failed CEOs who get huge payments haven’t been stopped ? Then I saw the bit about the independence of the board and I accept the board is not as independent as I would like but does this mean new board...

    So… Highland is out…

I expect delays but unlike the roadster this is mass market and has been on the cards for a while. My worry is that the look of it will be polarising and this talk of revolutionary manufacturing process will be more difficult than anticipated leading to delays. In my view this vehicle (and...

What is the PE ratio of a company with expected growth rate of 10%?
  35. M

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

My concern is the revolutionary process to make the next car will be harder than anticipated and as a result even more delays will take place. Imagine the situation we would be in now if instead of the cybertruck a more conventional truck had been designed. We could be selling in the hundreds...

Demand has reached its limit now as Tesla has the ability to increase production right now but hasn’t.
  38. M

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

It’s been obvious to me that demand has reached its limit for a while. Tesla has the capacity to produce more vehicles but doesn’t because we will end up with to much inventory. If interest rates go down, Tesla does targeted advertising, Elon stops antagonising people etc demand will increase...

The leader is uncontrollable so it’s 50/50 how he behaves. More importantly hopefully we will get concrete information on the status of the 4680s etc

    Project Redwood (Compact Crossover)

With regards to when the first vehicles will be produced, the main sign to watch out for is when will the kuka robots be installed as it will take about a year from then to produce the vehicles.
  42. M

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I think Elon has made a few tactical mistakes which will result in slow growth for the next couple of years, these are: 1. Going all in the 4680 battery production, when the risk was that if you can’t mass produce them quick enough it will add to the battery shortage. It would have been better...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I expect the hype over a model 2 will follow the same process as the previous models. So my expectations are low, my guesses are: 1. It will cost about $30,000 initially. 2. Range will be around 220 miles. 3. Pilot production in late 2024 in Texas, followed by Mexico in late 2025. 4. Elon...

    Model 2

Now the hype will start over the model 2 and some people will go overboard, so here are my thoughts: 1. It will cost about $30,000 initially. 2. Range will be around 220 miles. 3. Pilot production in late 2024 in Texas, followed by Mexico in late 2025. 4. Elon will say something like the new...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I find it ridiculous that priority is not been given to the next generation vehicle. Irrespective of the state of the economy a ~$25K vehicle will sell in huge numbers outside the USA alone. Initially it can be made in Berlin, Shanghai and Texas and then later the Mexico factory so no need to...
