    Refresh Winter Wheel Options

A million other suitable aftermarket options out there unless you’re absolutely set on TSportline. Not disparaging them in any way. Just saying if you’re needing something in a few weeks, you’re not limited to them.

    Spare 17" possible?

Highly doubt any 17” spare will clear the calipers. If you’re wanting peace of mind due to remote/rough travels, you should prob just carry a full size spare for those trips. How much $$ can you save with a 17” spare vs 18” anyway? Modernspare has a basic 18” wheel/tire only pkg for $400 shipped.

Tail light on the toy car in instrument panel

Just std red/black. Remember if you don’t already have the lights in the trunk that the connector is fabric-taped to a wire bundle behind the carpet on each side.

Update removed Sirius/XM selection from infotainment screen

I’m thinking a silent update was pushed because mine is back automagically as well.

Tail light on the toy car in instrument panel

So assume you don’t have any lights in the trunk at all like my car. Good news is that the wiring is already there to add two std lights that are identical to the rectangular puddle lights. Even the carpet is already pre-perforated to accept them. The wiring and connectors are taped to the...

Tail light on the toy car in instrument panel

No, it won’t help. The added load is there regardless of power draw, which is low already as they are LED vs incandescent. What year is your car? My ‘14 had the wiring/connectors for adding trunk lights behind the carpet to either side of the latch hook. Exact same connector as the puddle lights.

Replaced brake pads with R1 Concepts Perf pads

Finally got around to replacing the pads all around. I’ve never liked the stock pads on my P85D as for the two times I truly had panic stop situations, they left much to be desired stopping power wise. My personal preference has always been to run a more aggressive street pad and Porterfield R4S...
  9. Doanster1

Tail light on the toy car in instrument panel

Whenever you tap a source, you’re presenting a different load on the line so the sensor and software are getting values they’re not expecting so the car graphic thinks the light is out. Are you getting a warning msg about the tail light being out? What are you using this light strip for? Using...

12v Battery Options - Which is best?

Switzerland here. 😀 Nothing inherently bad with the Ohmmu. @Ostrichsak is saying the bang-for-the-buck factor and advertised added benefits aren’t any better then the lead-acid std. Every situation is probably different so it really boils down to whether you want to pay the extra $$ for it...

How can I replace park brake shoes/pad?

What do you mean? If you’re only replacing the pads, just remove the carrier bolts, slide the caliper off the rotor and replace the pads. You don’t need to unplug the electrical connector.
  13. Doanster1

    Steering rack shim Service Bulletin?

Indeed! Never would’ve thought that those bolts (location compared to steering wheel) could cause the prominent click/clunk that’s heard/felt in your hands.

    Supercharger - Troutdale, OR

Outlet Mall is the prime location when/if it ever materializes. Lots of unused parking lot real estate there.
  15. Doanster1

    Supercharger - Kelso, WA

Roadside Assistance was always the number to call. Still has an option for charging issues. Just don’t call on a Sunday. 🧐

Looks good. Hopefully not an uptick in what I like to call “badginitis”… 😀

“Navigation Update Required”, nav won’t work

Your case sounds like a dying SD card. Mine and other recent reports hopefully are update related. This is not the eMMC fix. Just the SDcard that stores the maps so AC has nothing to do with it either.
  18. Doanster1

R1 Concept slotted rotors/ Lizard green calipers

R1 Concepts. I just recently replaced all pads with their Performance pads and am happy. Will start a diff thread to provide details.
  19. Doanster1

“Navigation Update Required”, nav won’t work

Could be, but a new thread from yesterday has others reporting the exact same thing so unless the timing is impeccable that the SD cards are all failing “simultaneously”, I’m hoping it is indeed the 2020.48.37.6 update.
  20. Doanster1

    Navigation Issues

Yep, same here on my P85D. Already a diff thread to which I responded a couple times today. Looks like another issue with 2020.48.37.6. Reboot solved the “Nav is initializing” issue, but GPS/“instruction catch-up” issues remain.
  21. Doanster1

“Navigation Update Required”, nav won’t work

Reboot and nav is back, but GPS location is off by a few hundred feet, ie I’ll hit the turn and then get the “In 500ft turn left” instruction. Will try another reboot later today.

“Navigation Update Required”, nav won’t work

Hmmm, haven’t used nav for a few wks and am now stuck in the “Nav system is initializing” loop as well. :( Maybe double up with the LTE retrofit to save labor… 🧐 Coinkydink with the 37.6 update? P85D btw.

Pump Running While Connected to Wall Connector

For my P85D, 80% is silent. 90%+ is when the coolant heater kicks in/whines. Haven’t gone past 80% since updating to 37.6, though. Need to charge to 100% and see if it’ll actually get to full as well as see if my list range is back per the lawsuit thread.
  25. Doanster1

    Future request/option: Adjustable drive bias

And for my P85D, Range Mode shifts more towards the front DU. Noticeable increase in front motor whine when it’s engaged.
  26. Doanster1

    Should I use Range Mode?

On my P85D, it does seem to help. Too many factors like the ones mentioned already (temp, wind, HVAC use, etc.), but remember that it also shifts the ratio of front vs rear DU usage. In the case of my car, I can easily hear the front DU vs with Range Mode off so it makes sense that I’m saving...

How can I replace park brake shoes/pad?

Hold, again, does nothing to wear out the pads. You’re standing still so is just a parking brake as stated. Enough here, though, doesn’t matter at this point. So you’ve physically inspected/measured the parking brake pads and they are low/down to the last few millimeters? How much is Tesla...

Blog Tesla Settles Suit Over Model S Battery Voltage Reduction

Let’s see if I get notified. Range of 241 was rock steady for a couple years. Dropped to 230 after the update, so not as bad as 11%. Honestly have not charged to 100% since then because the coolant heater pump running full bore (for me anyway) post-90% made it a wash. Will have to do so soon and...

    Car may not restart

What was their specific diagnosis vs just “needs a rear DU”? Your error msg could be due to a number of things and it’s not uncommon for the msg to go away, but still indicative of a real problem still. Double-edged sword with so many sensors and software. I’ve had msgs like that pop up every...

    Tesla to J1772 adapter recommendations?

Absolutely zero issues so far so still highly recommended from me. I’m also using it with a Gen2 HPWC so matching your setup. Sharing it hasn’t been an issue. Just takes a bit of planning to maximize our ToU savings by charging off-peak.

How can I replace park brake shoes/pad?

    It’s your seizure-inducing avatar man. 😀😀😀
  32. Doanster1

How can I replace park brake shoes/pad?

How can that be? Was the car dragged/towed without Tow Mode activated? Otherwise how would the parking brake pads ever wear out? I’m assuming you’re talking older Model S with the separate parking brake sitting on top of each rear rotor right? Seized parking brakes could happen, but worn pads I...

No worries. Just hope you get it sorted out vs settling for basically no change from the stock setup.

Vendor Rear Adjustable Camber Bushings for Model S/X Group Buy

It was @aggmeister that published his final alignment specs. My EV Tuning arms are still sitting on my workbench in the garage. 😂 I am on stock SAS and run 20” Falkens. I get about 20K miles before the inner tread is trashed.

And looking at the center ribs, the tread is almost to the west bars as well after only 8k miles. Closet red-light racer??? 😀 Seriously though, def interested to see what the new alignment readings are.

Software update. Next day Power reduced with Dl_w126 error code

How frustrating. I wish there was consistent support/behavior from all Service Centers. Once I have an official appt on the books, service advisors do respond to my text msgs. May not be instant like days past, but they do still answer and suggest options and confirm what I want to do next. Have...

Software update. Next day Power reduced with Dl_w126 error code

Are you going to ask them to push/revert back to 37.2?
  38. Doanster1

Software update. Next day Power reduced with Dl_w126 error code

Dah! That sucks. Sorry to hear more troubles happened for you. An easy test would be for them to push 37.2 and see if that helps. If it doesn’t at least you’ll know it was just very bad timing. Either way, hope it’s not as bad as all the error msgs make it look like.
  39. Doanster1

Software update. Next day Power reduced with Dl_w126 error code

No issues with my P85D so far. Touch wood. Two data points towards older ‘12/‘13 85s so far. Hope it gets sorted out quickly!

Supercharger - The Dalles, OR (LIVE Aug 2014, 5 V2 stalls)

Doh, you’re right. I had the HPWC in my mind, but said Urban instead. You’d still get idle fees with Urban. Thx for the correction.

    Steering rack shim Service Bulletin?

SB-13-32-001 Can’t find the actual verbiage/bulletin though. When it was addressed on my car they didn’t reference the SB, only replaced the bolts.

Read your trip thread. Busted louver prob contributed to the overheat incident. Great idea letting the firemen check out your car!

Finally. I had been checking with my SC once/year to see if the price would go down from $500, so great to see this. Appt booked!

Supercharger - The Dalles, OR (LIVE Aug 2014, 5 V2 stalls)

Honestly there’s a good chance you’ll have to wait. When I arrived around noon on a Thursday per my posts above, I got the fourth spot. Coming back on a Sunday, I was third in line. It grew to six cars even after I got a spot. So it all depends on whether you want to roll the dice. My trip was...

To show them what they already know as they are the ones that tweaked the algorithm… 🧐
  47. Doanster1

    Battery SC curve

The data for my P85D (manual collection via app screenshots! :)) pretty much jives with yours. I added a “kW vs Elapsed Minutes” chart and the data shows that the “max” charging rates occur for only the first 6-10mins. After that it quickly settles in to ~80kW, tapering down to ~40kW until 70%...

how did model S bahave during extreme heat in NW US and SW Canada ?

No issues with my P85D itself, but huge issues at the older Supercharger in The Dalles, OR. It hasn’t been maintained very well over the years and the heat (118degs when I was there) did quite a number on the station. Cars would only charge for 5mins then get a red-ring-of-death. Had to unplug...

    Cleaning hard water stains

Umm, yeah, a big no to Bar Keepers Friend on paint or glass. Would prob leave micro scratches. Run off from the glass light aettle on your paint, which would be a bigger issue. Try any quick detailing spray first while drying the car. Unless you have extremely hard/mineralized water, that should...

Then they didn’t do what you asked. They should’ve gotten as close to -0.9 as possible while maintaining acceptable toe, not stopped at -2.5.
