The fob is simply quicker - press whatever buttons you need. With a phone, you have to: 1) unlock the phone, 2) go into app, 3) possibly navigate menu, 4) perform task. The fob is guaranteed to work (phone could possibly not work if Tesla's network is down).

How did Tesla survive the first decade? What's the ongoing issue with the heat pump from the Model Y? Capacitive has worked fine for the Model S for years now. Not perfect, but it works - and it's way quieter. At least Rivian offers a larger pack to accommodate.

So.... What do you consider this refresh? It's essentially a first model year under the covers for all purposes.

The nice part about Rivian is that you can change everything about it including the fricken vehicle and you WON'T LOSE YOUR PLACE IN LINE. Change even an innocuous thing on a Tesla and you're put to the back of the line.

Well, if by July you're seeing a 2021 VIN, I'd say just straight up reject it. Tell them you might have ordered it last year, but it's up to them to actually deliver a vehicle in the year in which the order is being fulfilled.

Tesla will not do that - there's too much demand, and too many orders would be involved. They'll only do it at the new price, and probably stick you at the back of the line.
