I love driving in snow! Regen braking seemed to turn off...

@Dogter Y I have heard that Tesla is disabling the ability to select standard or low regen, and instead having the car decide what level of regen is appropriate automatically. I'm not a fan of this idea, and I still have the ability to swap between regen states in my older S, but I don't know...

Us this speed about right for a 2017 90D with 8k miles?

Pretty similar to what I see. Recently my Supercharging has more or less followed the equation P=140 - SoC, your posted picture would be within spitting distance of that depending on outdoor temp etc. I have a lot more than 8,000 miles on my car though. Off-topic, I find it amusing when...

    Tesla Owners in Alberta

I decided that in the absence of meaningful incentives and/or feed-in tariffs, it made more sense for me to pay for renewable offsets with my current electricity provider. It costs me $15/month extra for essentially 100% offset of my electricity useage (Add Green for your home). My electricity...

    Buyout issue with Tesla

I wonder if the inspection is needed because you extended the lease? It's kind of weird, I would think the buyout would be whatever the residual was less whatever you've paid in additional lease payments. I had no inspection when I bought mine out, and I agree with xG35 that the most difficult...

    Edmonton Delivery

My experience is pretty old now so I don't know if it would happen the same, but I took delivery of mine a couple of blocks away from home at a place where the hauler could get in and out easily. It came in an enclosed car transporter, along with a couple of Ferraris/Lambos and a couple other...

    Yes, exactly.

    Door handle not presenting

Wiring harness in the door maybe? I just had one replaced on my front passenger door, the handle was fine but not getting the signal through the harness.

Crazy bad fogging of windshield in humid weather

Check whether you're recirculating air or bringing in fresh. I only use recirc when the AC is on, if I'm just running the vent fan then it needs to be on fresh air.

No autopilot convenience features 2015 90D?

I'm one of the weirdos that did not get Autopilot (Dec 2015 90D); there is no upgrade path through the app to add autopilot for me. That suits me fine.

    "grandfathered in" free supercharging?

If you don't register it, I don't think the app will work, plus you need a Tesla account for everything like service or recall notices as far as I know. I can't think of a reason you wouldn't want to; you bought it from the previous owner and all the early cars even into 2016/17 have free...

    "grandfathered in" free supercharging?

The "A" is just the part revision. The pack part number has a bunch of numbers, followed by -A. A revised version of the pack ends in -B, -C, etc. Generally an A-version is the first version of whatever that part is. So a car with an A-pack is still on its original battery, and was one of...

    Smelly AC

You could also turn the AC off before you finish your drive and run just the fan on regular vent, no recirc, for a few minutes before you park it, to get rid of as much of the condensation as you can.

New house address does not appear on maps

Blame Google. It took a while for my house to show up as well after we moved in. Tesla uses Google's map dsta as far as I know, so the fix needs to happen with Google. I used a neighbour's address for a while until mine populated. My car still thinks it's at my neighbour's house sometimes.

Between a Model Y and a Subaru Outback

Nokian WR. I've put them on every car I've had, my wife has had, my parents have had, my friends have had, since about 2002. After the OEM tires are done, of course - I'm not made of money.

    Model X Lease Buyout

Doubtful; it cost me a few thousand more than if I had just bought the car in the first place, but it was nice to have the option to just turn it in at the end of the lease if it had been a troublesome ownership experience. Since my car was pretty much trouble-free, I didn't have much...

Are 90 batteries limited on supercharging like the 85

My 90D from December 2015 still gets over 100kW when charging, more or less follows the 120-SOC formula except it seems more like 140-SOC lately. 103,000 km on it so far, still shows 440km rated range at 100% charge and I come close to that driving at 110km/h on the highway. If I drove it the...

Between a Model Y and a Subaru Outback

@Pilot1226 Just one other thought, since I'm actually now in the middle of replacing my wife's XC60 (she thought her lease was up next year, but it's actually this August o_O). I've been through the whole gamut of small- and mid-size crossovers, done the spreadsheet, read Consumer Reports, etc...

Between a Model Y and a Subaru Outback

I've only ever replaced 4 at a time on both my Subarus and my Tesla. Since the Tesla (AWD at least) has one motor per axle I think you just have to keep the tires on the same axle the same size; there's still a differential there that you can wear out if they're mis-sized across the axle, but...

Between a Model Y and a Subaru Outback

@Pilot1226 Just to add two more cents, I had an '07 Legacy wagon, a '15 Outback, a '16 Outback (briefly) and my wife had a '16 Outback. My mom has a '14 Forester. My S is better than any of them in the snow with the same tires I used to run on those. I would prefer a little less traction...

I've had ranger service twice in the past couple of months, both times guys from Calgary that come up for a couple of days every week or two. According to them the new Edmonton ranger is being trained and should be ready to go on his own soon. Our previous ranger, Jamie, moved to Airdrie and...

    Non-SpaceX Launch Videos

I watched that one yesterday; that config with 5 SRBs looks so weird. I assume they use the angles of the various booster nozzles to compensate for asymmetric thrust? Or do the main Atlas engines gimbal to offset the thrust from the SRBs? With that big fairing the rocket looks like it should...

Safety issue: backup camera should override other UI when in reverse.

The camera does turn on automatically and sits on top of anything else that might be open on the display in my car; if it didn't come on, I would probably use my mirrors to help me reverse (you can find one mounted in the center at the top of your windshield, and one on either side of the...

Would Transferable Free Unlimited Supercharging go away on a leased vehicle when it is purchased ?

To me, transferrable means transferrable - the car always has free Supercharging, no matter who owns it. I can't say for sure what Tesla's interpretation is though. Not sure how it works in the US, but here title transfers with the sale so whoever owns it is the title holder.

A thread for people with no problems

I guess I should add an update then, now that I'm past my 4-year Teslaversary. Still no major issues with the car - had my 2nd 12V battery changed about a month ago, and it's just about time for new tires again as I'm past 100,000 km. The only problem I've had is the front passenger door...

Would Transferable Free Unlimited Supercharging go away on a leased vehicle when it is purchased ?

I bought my car after my lease was up, still have free unlimited Supercharging. I was leasing it from Tesla, not that it should matter.

    Leasing/Buying? Lease Buy Out?

I kept mine, there wasn't enough added value for me in the new versions to reset the debt-o-meter. I might trade it in on a Y in another year or two if something better hasn't come along. As much as I'd love the range increase with a new S, the number of Superchargers/charging stations...

Wife wants a VOLVO, I'm going to suggest a Tesla.

My wife has a 2018 XC60 and likes it a lot, but it's a bit of a pig on (premium) gas especially in the winter and has needed a lot of service work (all warranty so far, but still...). We leased her car since I didn't want to get stuck with an ICE over the long term, and when her lease is up in...

Model X cold weather stalling. anyone having this issue?

Yes, I have experienced this kind of delay (not 5 seconds). I assume it's just cold viscous transmission fluid that provides more resistance for the gear change than when warm. I've had the same thing in both standard and automatic transmissions in the past. No big deal as far as I'm concerned.

    WTB - Making that Change

Lots of info on this site if you search, but the main differences from S to 3 would be along these lines: S - hatchback, wider, longer, bigger screen, instrument panel, maybe air suspension, maybe heated steering wheel (sub-zero package) 3 - trunk, smaller, more maneuverable, new battery...

    90d.... late November 2016 build

So, here's my take on this. Change your display from range to % and stop worrying about it. The actual range of my car varies on a day-to-day basis - what's the temperature? Humidity (air density)? Wind direction and speed? Road surface conditions? Tire pressure and wear? You get the idea...

Considering test driving one of these....any suggestions / advice welcome!

Traction is outstanding - better than the Subaru Outback I had before. Need a good set of tires of course, and since it's a heavy car inertia will carry you through corners if you're not careful, but traction control is excellent and starting from a stop is superb. I have driven through deep...

Considering test driving one of these....any suggestions / advice welcome!

Yup, just like a regular automatic transmission, but when you take your foot off the accelerator the car uses the motors to provide braking (like engine braking in a manual transmission), so once you're used to it you can slow the car quite effectively without touching the brake pedal until...

Should I buy model S with 300k km

From 2014 it'll still have 2 years left on the drivetrain warranty (battery, drive unit) which are the big-ticket items if they have to be replaced. You'd want to budget a couple grand for eventual replacement of the center screen, and be aware that repairs can be expensive (like any...

Considering test driving one of these....any suggestions / advice welcome!

Headlights - automatic, work really well in my experience including auto-dimming high beams. There's a menu in the screen if you want/need to control lights manually, one tap takes you to that menu so it's not hidden deep in the menus. Heater/defrost - there's a thumbwheel on the steering...
