Vendor Preventative Maintenance regarding Battery Failures in early Model S vehicles (2012-2014)

I voted for the second sentence and I am sticking to it, especially that I can now see where "here" is ;)

2013 MS 85 upgrade to MCU2 then HV battery problem

Are you sure they have installed a "new" 90kWh pack (probably a 1014116-00-C) and are only charging you only $13K for it? Would be interesting to see your invoice.

    MCU1 to MCU2 with warranty...question?

Highly doubtful. But the OP should present that question to Tesla regardless.

    MCU1 to MCU2 with warranty...question?

No, the infotainment upgrade includes replacing both processor and the touchscreen in the center display unit in addition to a new instrument cluster (behind the steering wheel). You get all that replaced.

Would you happen to think that the extension was installed at the factory when the car was built and not by a service center as a correction action? If you are the first owner you definitely would know. Thanks again.

Great. Would you share the build month in 2014 and your VIN being below or above 70k? Tnx.

2012 P85 HV battery replacement options -- need perspective.

They do and I think you have received plenty of insight into what the options are, not only in this thread but also in other threads you have been reading and posting. They are just trying to be factual. You need to realize that lots of newcomers read these threads to seek factual information...

2012 P85 HV battery replacement options -- need perspective.

Correct and hopefully you end up with a satisfactory outcome. Actually, you brought up how many miles your old pack got which several knowledgeable posters here found it hard to believe.

2012 P85 HV battery replacement options -- need perspective.

Is your car set to "Rated" or "Ideal" miles? A 2013 MS 85 would not get more than 265 rated miles even when new.

Just got my pack replaced: 1014116-00-c

When they installed 1014116-00-C on my 2015 S85 a few months ago, the two rear subframe shear plates were replaced. However, they did not replace any rear suspension links as it has been the case with two 2014 Model S85 cars within the last 6 months that I'm aware of.

Good info on the heat ratings. I was more curious if the hose happens to be in direct contact with and resting on the case. Would the ratings you have listed still handle it?

How did you justify that this is a safety issue?

Tesla Service says my Tesla Model S 2013 60 kw Main battery needs to be replaced

That banner says: "File a complaint with NHTSA if you experienced a vehicle, tire, car seat or equipment safety problem that could be a safety defect." How is water dripping over the battery a safety issue?

Vendor Preventative Maintenance regarding Battery Failures in early Model S vehicles (2012-2014)

@Ron Burgundy - Nice job. Not sure how hot the battery case would get during summer time and by the heat generated by the pack itself, but I'm wondering if the extension line would handle such a possible heat.

BMS_w035 alert popped yesterday and this morning

1088792-00-A is an old pack from 2016-2017 for P90DL,I believe. If Tesla has any in inventory, which I doubt, it must be a reman of that pack. The last time I looked was in May of this year and the part catalog was showing the same info. Nevertheless, the 1014116-00-C has been installed on a...

BMS_w035 alert popped yesterday and this morning

From my experience, I believe what they have told you is accurate and honest based on the script they follow. I really believe they have no influence on what Tesla eventually ships. In order to complete the order request, the SeC types in your VIN and it comes up with a default pack based on the...

2013 MS 85 upgrade to MCU2 then HV battery problem

My understanding is that when Tesla decides to update the BMS firmware, they always include that update in a regular OTA software. Is that correct or are there other ways they update the BMS software?

    Maximum battery charge level reduced

It's possible you have two issues, HV and 12V and that they have diagnosed the 12V and have stopped there. Can you ask Tesla about what about the HV battery?

Thanks @Peter_P and @dark cloud for confirming my understanding that the extended hose doesn’t terminate downward enough to directly drain to the ground. I think the DIY done by @beastman is the correct way. Unsurprisingly, the Tesla's extension method looks like a haphazard job to me and that...

@Peter_P and @dark cloud Since you guys have the AC drain extension (good thing) already on your cars, where does it directly drain to? To the top of the front undercarriage protective cover plate (the black plastic cover) or directly to the ground? Any idea?

Vendor Preventative Maintenance regarding Battery Failures in early Model S vehicles (2012-2014)

Thanks for reporting back. I think what the service center is saying is that your 1014116-00-B has a better design to prevent the moisture ingress, which is good of course. But, I do think it's worth spending the $ to reroute the drainage. No reason to have a puddle on top of the battery pack.

Thanks Jason. That explains why they are not visible in the earlier picture @Kaveman posted. So, based on @Peter_P 's picture showing his 2014 has the extended drainage line, my Feb. 2015 should also have this correction, right?

Hi - The extended drain hose you are referring to in the picture you have posted, is it the black/gray one to the right of the orange cable on the center top of the battery? I thought the process is: 1 - The present owner logs into his/her Tesla account and initiates the transfer in his/her Tesla account and enters the purchaser's email 2 - Purchaser receives an email from Tesla with a link to claim the car. So it looks like the impostor in this case must have had...
