Fan when charging twice as loud after annual service

Was this your first annual? I know Tesla made some changes in the past via firmware to make the front fans push more air, but that was quite some years ago. I wouldn't see them having to mess with that again. I know the rear blowers are super loud on the 2.x's but the fronts are the same in...

    TPMS Sensors

He just installed new ones as he indicated in the thread. I've heard of TPMS sensors taking some time before they begin to work/register properly. Sounds odd but I guess its true. If you're able to drive a few more days without any alerts, I presume that's the case and all is good.

    TPMS Sensors

FYI: You might want to include your Roadster version so not to confuse people with the TPMS choices, this thread is getting confusing for people without it.... Right now if its cheap, its for the 2.x and it not its for the 1.5 version. My best guess is that you have a 2.0 version.

    TPMS Sensors

The 2010 Tesla Roadster search comes up with the exact results :) My guess is that the most expensive one, the black one, is the 1.5 and the orange cheaper version is the 2.x TPMS. The black one looks exactly like the same company / style as what came stock on the 1.5 Roadster. 2010 Tesla TPMS

    1.5 Roadster Tire Thread

Doc@TireRack was kind enough to give us some insight into the Yokohama AD07 situation, he gave me the ok to repost our converstation. Thanks Doc! Me: Hi Doc how's it going? We Roadster owners are curious if Yokohama will continue to make the AD07 tires, in particular the Lotus/Tesla size...

    1.5 Roadster Tire Thread

This totally sucks and leaves the 1.5 Roadster's in a bind. Well my next major upgrade definitely will be the custom Boze Wheels to get away from this mess of being stuck to one type of tire that's in an oddball size. Discount Tires are also dried up on front/rear AD07's. Ebay is very slim...

    Trunk release issues

Yes, that interior "child stuck in trunk" release mechanism I've found earlier to bind things up with that overly complicated lever system they've got going in there. Multiple friction points, turns, and pivot points that also cause minor binding. Just be aware when you remove that pull latch...

Trunk latch sticks and struts are weak

Don't ever grease the latches, it attracts dirt and dust. Reason the latch on one side is sticking is that the cable needs to be adjusted on that side, I created a thread on this issue of the stuck trunk issue.

What wheel lugs does the Roadster use?

You can just have them remove the keyed lock and have them replace with a torx lug instead, you just need the torx adapter. When I lost my wheel lock key Tesla had the master key for all the wheel locks. They drove to my work, gave me the keys which I found the right adapter, removed the...

    Roadster rear toe links

What is your budget you'd want to spend? Just to clarify are your shocks adjustable? You can have them rebuilt and new springs purchased which would be the most cost effective route. The next inexpensive way would be going the Nitron 1-way route, but you'll need to customize /...

Small crack in CF near the bottom pan by driver door

Driving a Roadster close to maximum range

Note that the Roadster doesn't charge more than 97% SOC (from diags) to protect the battery :) Also note that with highway driving, no hills, if I set the cruise control to 60-65mph I can have my estimated miles match the ideal miles, that's what you want, to have those match or have the...

Driving a Roadster close to maximum range

So what is the 212 mile reading in Range mode and where is this 165 usable miles coming from? That's not the right terminology. The correct terminology is "ideal miles" which is on the VDS screen and "estimated miles" which is on the speedo cluster. The ideal miles is an ideal world...

Small crack in CF near the bottom pan by driver door

It doesn't look bad and I'd just fill it in personally with a small resin coat, sand, wet sand, little primer, and then a quick overspray with a paint can of the matching color. Then run a buffer on it to melt / blend in the paint. Its also under the car so you don't have to be all to picky as...

    Repaint with new color

I agree the paint is thin and true on the quality paint job, the right/correct paint job is where a person of detail cannot tell the car was repainted. Also putting all the panels in an oven to cure properly my opinion is essential for a prime paint job, only issue is that with the body/main...

Invested $7K into my Roadster. Here’s what I got:

For my Roadster, the creaks occur when the body flexes and typically comes from my hard-top. All the rest are rattles that come from my console or from the dash rubbing against the window. The creaks / rattles get worse as the temps drop and appear to go away when temps rise. Odd but I guess...

Need help to find air bag disable switch installer in CA

Yes! It is required if you are traveling with a child / carseat. An airbag can kill a child. Some vehicles never came with a way to disable it. My 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 truck has a key you can insert and turn to turn it off.

    Roadster HPC smoke detector

    Repaint with new color

Can't remove your wheels!?!? Tesla service centers should have the master keyed set to remove any Lotus wheel locks which were put on the Roadsters. I'd call a local Lotus repair shop, the real Lotus one. And see if they have the master key and if they can pull it off. I'd then buy another...
