    Model S90D Battery Degradation?

90 packs degrade faster 'for sure'. 95,000km (59k miles) update: 77,5kWh nominal pack full capacity. Equates to 73,5kWh usable. After the mandatory phantom losses occurring in a cycle (unless you go full cycle in one drive i.e. roadtrips) I can use 68-70kWh in one charge. 73kWh in roadtrips. I...

    MCU2 - Retrofit

On the same boat, owning the exact same config. The answer remains to be seen. We will see which config they will leave the cars at after first retrofits are done. One camp says there won't be a separate config for old tuner-no radio. One camp says they will create a config for old tuner-no...

HW3 will be enough. However you need MCU2 to record rear view camera as well. MCU1 + HW3 will only get you forward and sides.

Successful data recovery of broken eMMC chip MCU1

Great thread. Also trying to recover an emmc's openvpn certificates to keep connection with the mothership. The emmc was not able to boot in the car so I desoldered and got a whole dump of the emmc with Medusa. Partition table seems intact as it is able to identify p1-p2-p3-p4. However none are...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

I have makeshift Netflix/Youtube on my MCU1. Here's how; I purchased the HDMI input device for Model S and on the HDMI input I installed an Amazon Firestick TV. I power it through 12V lighter socket to have it provide 2,5Amps on USB. AND because it couldn't be paired with Model S bluetooth...

    MCU2 - Retrofit

    100k miles in a facelift Model S

Great write up! Also looking forward to those milestones with my facelift 90D 2017. At 90.000km (56k mi) currently. Also with more than average degradation. (10%) Even though the shine wears off I still look forward to driving my car every day. Despite the vaporware FSD purchase and the terrible...

Do you have shudder on hard acceleration? AKA death rattle?

The metal fatigue is real guys. Also this is a real issue. Let me tell you what happened. I'm in a non-core market zone and my 2017 S90D was never serviced back in 2019. I always heard that rattle/shudder but never made anything out of it. Then in April of 2019 at our drive electric event I...

What is your 100% on your 90kWh battery?

EU Typical range (which is a bit less than US-rated) shows 410km at 100% after 3 years/90.000km(~55k miles) Down from 457 when new. If you want more technical data from the BMS, it is 73kWh usable + 4kWh buffer left in a 90 pack. Down from 81,4kWh + 4kWh buffer when new.

Who has done their own LTE upgrade?

Would anyone know how to activate a non Tesla sim in a non-core market zone? With MCU1 EU cars built after 2015, we had the sim extender right next to the CAN diagnostics port beneath the center screen. We would replace sim, if necessary change APN from dev mode and that'd be it. However with...

    New 85kWH battery for my 2013 P85+

Let's do the math. With P100D, we know it draws 1762A at peak power. (data from the car, not guesstimating) We also know that pack is roughly 277Ah. ~6.5C at peak power draw instantaneously. This new 85 pack that we theorize to be a good ole 100 pack with 2 modules missing would also be 277Ah...

    Model S90D Battery Degradation?

Here's how mine is holding up. Facelift March 2107 built 90D. Very weird, I'll almost cruise above 10% degradation. Old owner drove the first 27k miles doing 100% daily as he needed the range. He justified it by slow AC charging it daily. Despite the abuse when I was buying loss was at 4.4%...

Pulled the trigger on an inventory 2019 Standard Range!

You won't really downgrade on battery. Original 85s were really usable 77s off the line and after a few years of avg. degradation yours should be 73kWh of net capacity. The brand new 75 you'll get will start its life with 71kWh of net energy and will degrade to an average of 66-67kWh. So you'll...

Congrats on the great purchase! MCU2 alone should be a new user experience. As an MCU1 owner myself I'd like to hear your thoughts transitioning from MCU1 to MCU2. Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Summary for newcomers on what we know certainly so far; - MCU2 upgrades are possible if you have Model S with AP2.0 or 2.5 (built after late 2016, with pillar cameras) This is proven by @verygreen - For cars with AP1 or later you need harness/pin changes theoretically. No one has tried if they...

Haven't seen an Intel board of an MCU2 but is it using the same method of alternating between partitions and does it also have an emmc for all and a rom chip for bootloader? Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

I'm surprised no one in the community still didn't try to retrofit MCU1 with MCU2-IC2. If you could get around the wiring then I don't think programming it would be an issue. Although it is difficult because we don't know (At least I don't know) if MCU2 still has an IP for IC, even if it is...

What happened to FSD retrofits on AP2 + MCU1?

Hey everybody; I've been a long timer in TMC now and these days are the quietest I'm seeing this Model S section. Where is everybody? Tried 0.6.61 on the way home yesterday. On the 'all data view' it doesn't show Pack V, Amps and power. When I go into graph view it does. When I go back to all data it gets stuck where the graph was when I left it. Also odometer was stuck for a few minutes. Using iOS 13 with LELink2.

    2015 vs 2016 - 90D Range?

Americans should calculate their energy from rated miles for 90D (not P90D) as this; miles * 0,285Wh/mi. So @Dypkny845 = 253 * 0,285 = 72kWh. That's actually one of the worse off ones I saw. Unless it is a P90D. If it is a 90D with this figure it is 15,7% degradation. For EU cars it shows the...

Sorry to revive but update time! MCU1/AP2 2017 facelift MS 90D built 03/17 @51k miles now. Battery dipped to 9,9% total degradation after 2019.32.2 (last V9) But after 2019.32.12 V10 went back up to 8% loss. Which is roughly 74,5kWh usable at 100%. 6kWh lost in 2.5 years and 51k miles. Will...

    2015 Model S 90D battery degradation - ~ 20% (no new software related)

Not sure. Maybe from option codes but all facelift should be either V3 or very late V2. Also V3 only matters if it is P90D to output max amps. As for 75D vs 90D I'd go for 90D just because of +50V on battery. That matters when fast charging anywhere (even chademo) Us 90Ds have 75kWh actual...

Ouch. 12V dying during an update is the last thing you might want in a Tesla. Is your CID still working? If it is not bricked you're lucky. If it is bricked you would need to desolder your emmc and also probably the bootloader and do a manual reflash. In that case I hope you have a backup of car...

    2015 Model S 90D battery degradation - ~ 20% (no new software related)

My Teslafi with consumption factor corrected to be on par with what the car dispalys shows 217Wh/km (347Wh/mi) over roughly 31,000km. (19k mi) However I know that my car's rated (typical in EU) consumption is 187Wh/km. So I should have used 35.898km Typical but I used 39.363. So the...

TeslaFi and TripB indicate different consumption

@Nifty-Stuff I think your Teslafi could be Wh/km. because 251/159=1,578 which is very close to mile to km ratio. @mknox Exactly. Add to that Tesla only accounts for consumption when the car is moving. So even being stuck in traffic or waiting in traffic lights while A/C running is consumption...
