    November Orders

Will that not re-price the whole package to the post-Nov increased prices?

    November Orders

I think I've done what needed to be done, selected cash from the start since that's how I'll pay for it. In the app it says "We'll notify you when it's time to continue with your pre-delivery tasks" and then under View "We're building your car, we'll notify you when it's time to schedule your...

    November Orders

You guys are making me depressed, I'm currently stuck with a November EDD, a full year out from order. Because of the price increases I really am not willing to change my configuration-- going to bigger wheels could possibly shave five months off of that. I could probably find someone willing...

    Recent MYP Delivery Estimates

Given the propensities of the company I don't know why they don't just auction spots in the delivery queue to the highest bidder.

    Recent MYP Delivery Estimates

Yeah, I know. It's not like the cars are very different; there's no obvious reason for the huge differential in timing.

    Recent MYP Delivery Estimates

You guys getting your cars in a couple of months are breaking my heart. I just got pushed out to next November. (Unless of coulsr those October orders are from 2020)

Reasonable price for 2 50A outlets to my condo parking spot

I'd sure wait until you have a couple of users to share the cost of the trenching and re-paving with. If you have four people needing plugs the cost would be a lot more palatable splitting that cost four ways. Running 2-400 A service to the parking lot wouldn't be significantly more expensive...

New member, just ordered a Model Y LR

So what did you order that got you a July EDD? I ordered in early November and my EDD is now showing as next November.I'm not sure my current car will last that long!

Is it safe to use 70 amp breakers for home wall connectors to charge Model 3?

The breaker is sized to protect the wiring in the wall, period. It doesn't matter what you are plugging into it (unless the Tesla install instructions specify a breaker size, in which case they prevail), whether it's a charger or a 0.01 watt night light. If your wires are big enough you can...

    Eagerly awaiting my Model Y

Been watching my EDD for a couple months now. It will only drive you crazy. Random shifts of 6 months, as if they have no clue how many cars they might make. I think they are playing with our heads. DW think it's some kind of convoluted publicity play-- keep people talking about the car. In...

I'd ask your fire department to sent their investigator to look at it. They are typically well trained to figure out exactly what went wrong in this kind of situation.

Tesla EV Tax Credits coming back?

OK, went and found the reference: 40CFR 600.315-08 (2) contains the following (self referential, in that they don't actually define sport utility vehicle) definitions: (v) Small sport utility vehicles. Sport utility vehicles with a GVWR below 6,000 pounds. (vi) Standard sport utility vehicles...

Tesla EV Tax Credits coming back?

So is the Model Y a sedan or an SUV? The bill says "For purposes of this subsection, the Secretary shall prescribe regulations for determining vehicle classifications using criteria similar to that employed by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy to determine size and...

    Brake Lights.......at standstill

60 years of driving a manual transmission and the only time I've ever used a handbrake at a stop is on a couple of extremely steep hills in San Francisco. No one in the states has ever suggested that this is a good idea in other circumstances, it certainly wasn't taught in driving class nor...

Why is the Model 3 not a Hatchback?

Last I looked, whatever they choose to call it, it is a hatchback. There's no permanent division between the back seat and "trunk".

    Current Delivery Times

EDDs appear to be created by a random number generator. Mine has gone from October to February to April in less than seven days. It's not like there have been a lot of cataclysmic, unexpected world events in the last week. Inability to project production to within +/- 20% two months out...

    space for gen 3 charger

The ideal place to put a charger in my garage is on the pillar between the garage doors so that it can easily reach both parked vehicles. The wall space between the door opener tracks is 17". Is that wide enough to accommodate the coiled up charging cord when it's not in use? I don't want the...

Seniors wishing the glovebox had a physical button to open

Given that neither Siri nor the vast majority of telephone voice response systems can seem to understand at least half of what I'm saying, am I going to be hosed in trying to control my soon-to-be MY? I can't even get yes/no responses to register correctly on most voice recognition systems...

2022 Delivery Date for my Model Y

So yesterday all of a sudden the EDD changed from October to "February 09- March 09". Trying to figure out whether that is 2022 or 2023.

    Delivery date moved way up

OTOH, maybe it’s been delayed to Feb 2023?
  22. R

    Delivery date moved way up

Yes. I ordered a few days ago and was given an October 2022 date. Today it says feb09-mar09. WTF? I hope it’s true, but who knows. MYLR, gray, 19” wheels
  23. R

Do 20" wheels have aftermarket value?

Just ordered a MY LR with the 19" wheels. Was shocked to get an estimated delivery date a year out (October 2022)-- a couple weeks ago (pre-Hertz) it was April. . Our sales guy says that if I order 20" wheels instead they are "promising" June. Can I recover any significant fraction of the 20"...

    Ordering process

Thanks. It turned out that it ordered under a different email address than the one on the account. Where it got that alternate address, I have no idea. (It's my "spam-protected" personal address that I never use on any web site) When I changed the email address for my account to the one they...

    Ordering process

OK, I read the FAQ. Problem is I do what it says and there is no option that will allow me to enter the required information, or indeed, any indication that I have an order in process. Indeed, under the "Order History" tab there is nothing.

Where does one find this "Tesla Profile"? I have logged in both on the web and have the iphone Tesla app, the app has only one option "explore", which is sales information and a menu that lets me see choices of "Contact Info" and "Order History", the latter being empty. On the tesla.com web...

A plumbing adapter, 1/2" to 3/8, guessing at scale. Typically used on kitchen or bathroom facets.

Electrician installed my NEMA 14-50 receptacle upside down..

Just to be clear, there is no "upside down" or "rightside up" orientation for any outlet. They can be installed either way around with "typical" being defined by local custom, which varies both regionally and with the kind of location (ie regular duplex outlets are pretty much always installed...

What doesn't work when you don't have cell service or WiFi?

Got it. Thanks. Understand the desirability of doing some functions remotely, it just seemed like it might be more transparent to the user if it used local wifi to carry out all of those same functions when internet wasn't available. With most devices my experience is that wifi has longer range...

What doesn't work when you don't have cell service or WiFi?

OK, but the problem is I did a test drive and completely loved the way the car handled and drove, and I'm excited to move on to an all electric vehicle. For better or worse I'm a curious scientist and like data and ask lots of questions about most everything. What's a fellow to do? FWIW, I...

What doesn't work when you don't have cell service or WiFi?

Yikes, that's a long list -- really, opening the windows or the trunk needs an internet connection? That's an absurd design, if true. (Or am I misunderstanding-- are you saying it's just the phone app that won't work to do those things but there is still a manual way to do them?) Even so, it...

What doesn't work when you don't have cell service or WiFi?

Haven't yet ordered (waiting for the rebate fog to clear) but thinking about a 3 or Y a lot. There's effectively no cell service where we live and we frequently travel to places that have neither cell nor WiFi. (We have excellent internet speed and WiFi at home.) I'm wondering what doesn't...

Blog Lucid Air Dream Edition Rated at 520 Miles of Range

I wish. Can't put a tank in the bed because it's already filled with camper. Have a hard time justifying a couple thousand to install a bigger tank in a 15 year old truck that has other problems. Stupid not to have done it 10 years ago when I got the truck.

Blog Lucid Air Dream Edition Rated at 520 Miles of Range

When I have the camper on and am pulling my fairground organ trailer my F350 diesel has a range of about 230 miles. I can tell you it is a serious PITA. I'm too big to access the pumps at most service stations, so I'm limited mostly to truck stops. More than once when traveling off the...

    2021 EV Tax Credit

According to 40 CFR 600.002 "Sport utility vehicle (SUV) means a light truck with an extended roof line to increase cargo or passenger capacity, cargo compartment open to the passenger compartment, and one or more rear seats readily removed or folded to facilitate cargo carrying." Which in...

I told my SA THREE TIMES not to put my order back on hold! Suggestions?

You might try a simple declarative sentence, eg "do not put my order on hold". I'm not even sure what "I'm fine letting it roll" might mean. Simple language is frequently more effective. (Plus it may well take a while for changes to propagate through their system to actually appear on the web site.)

U.S. opens formal safety probe for Autopilot - 2021 Aug 16

Perhaps we could get an option for plain old dumb cruise control so our expectation for what the car will and won't do will be clear cut and consistent. I have no interest in trying to guess what the car may or may not do. I really hope actual self driving exists by the time I need it (not so...

Poll - Are you waiting for the infrastructure bill before ordering?

So is the re-establishment of a quota for GM and Tesla in or out of the budget framework that has now passed in the house and senate? I haven't been able to tell for sure. The senate passed a non-binding resolution limiting rebates to vehicles under $40K and people with income under $100K, but...
