    Tesla Model Y-LR in Australia

Probably about right. Wh/km does not scale with speed in the same way as watts. If a car is decently aerodynamic, it will use less Wh/km on the freeway at a constant 100-110 (cruise control on) than in the stop-start suburbs. That has certainly been my experience (Model S). Not sure about the Y...

    Tesla Haters

Card carrying curmudgeon here. I've long since given up arguing with idiots full-time, but occasionally do just to keep my wits sharp. Remember though, the cesspool of Facebook commenters is infinite. Somehow FB has decided that I'm interested in articles about EV's, many of which are anti. The...

    Tesla Model Y-LR in Australia

Unlikely, as afaik it was only for a 3 with a particular rear motor. But doesn't hurt to ask the big T of course.

Sensitivity of accelerator pedal in parking manouvres

Never have a problem with the throttle sensitivity when parking either forward or reverse. Can't stand creeping automatics. Very glad when I stepped in to the Model S and was given an option to turn it off! And the holding brake is teh magick.

    Evie EV charging networks

They could share power for a while then the connection could be upgraded later. 175W per stall is plenty.

    Evie EV charging networks

A minor thing, but it would be nice if Evie (and others) had an up-to-date charger map on their own websites, mirroring the data already on their phone apps. It's not like they don't have the data. Sure you can use Plugshare, but it has to play catchup sometimes.

Reversing issues in new MYP = accident

Lines seem good on my S. They track where the outside edge of the tyre will go. I never rely on them for close work though - mirrors are your friend.

Reversing issues in new MYP = accident

At least the lines turn with the steering, unlike some ICE's I've driven recently

Reversing issues in new MYP = accident

I'm very conservative when reversing. I only trust the USS when coming up to a flat wall, after wife had a bingle with a little post sticking out from an otherwise flat wall. That said, I find the camera very good in my old S, not sure how it compares to later cars though. The 3's I've driven...

    Evie EV charging networks

Point taken about inaccessible cables. Then the stalls need to have longer cables and a spring to lift them out of the way like the Eu Ionity ones (or many petrol bowsers - ICE cars have fuel fillers all over the place and they cope OK with being filled from either side)

    Evie EV charging networks

Say what? I'm talking about stations that allow both plugs to be used at the same time.
  12. aegidius

    Evie EV charging networks

They really need to have dual CCS2 chargers on more stalls, given that the RTM75 can support two active plugs.

Lots of MYP and no 19" wheels to put on them? :-)

High Mileage Model S/X Owners and Battery Degradation in Australia

2016 S90D here. Bought at 25k km, now at 120k. Dropped about 15km range over that period (420km down to 405 at 100%, but it's a bit variable depending on how the BMS is feeling)

    Evie EV charging networks

Charged at the Noosaville Evie last week. Noosa area used to be a charger desert, there are now 3 Evie stalls within minutes of the beach, and some other DC stalls around as well. Happy days.

    Early Model S DIY Projects

Any comments on door handle gear kits? I've got a noisy one at the rear now (drivers one has already been replaced/upgraded under warranty)

Tesla Model S Headlight repair DIY. Where to get parts in Australia?

I had a Model S headlight assembly replaced under warranty, because the LED daytime running lights failed. Was told by service anecdotally that these LED strips (or the board that drives them) are usually the part that fails first, requiring swapping the whole unit. But since my car is now well...

Melbourne to Sydney via Destination Charger in a MY RWD

I always gain 10km or so of range when coming down the hill from Toowoomba. Doesn't quite pay for the rest of the trip home, but it's something you can't do in a petrol burner.

    BP Pulse Network

Why are DC chargers so unreliable? Is it close-to-the-envelope design? Weather and operating conditions? It's not like we don't know how to make power electronics. Tesla seems to be able to do it.

Melbourne to Sydney via Destination Charger in a MY RWD

Useful write up. My road trips have been confined to the Supercharger Coast (tm) so far: Bris-Syd and a bit of the south coast of NSW. They were so uneventful that they didn't warrant writing up in detail. But they did remind me that destination chargers are still rare, and they're never where...

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

Wheel is a good option, but just give us stalks fer chrissakes,. If I have to look where my finger is going for indicators or TACC/AP, it's a complete fail.

    Superchargers in Australia

Great, the more the merrier. Good point on road access too - Heatherbrae can be a bear to get into and out of when travelling southbound.

    Superchargers in Australia

Raymond terrace why? It's right next to Heatherbrae. (Unless they really really need a 15-stall location, of course.) They would be better off putting in an infill supercharger at Taree.

Brake Regeneration - Low To Non-Existent (Aussie Site - Discussion)

I can't see how that can be the case. Different diameter tyres (like when you put on a spare) will give error messages about the anti-lock braking, but the difference has to be fairly pronounced - a lot more than just a good tyre on one side and a worn on the other. I have two front tyres in...

    Take delivery or cancel?

Model Y RWD is the ideal daughter's first car :) I predict, based on nothing more than hunch, that the combination of: - Elon's political antics trashing the brand, - increasing competition incoming from VW and others, - crazy cost-cutting design decisions like omitting USS (3,Y) and no...

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

I don't really need the long range very often either. I just want the performance, without having to buy a P and spend even more, and then spend even more changing those 21" wheels out for 19" ones... the LR would be exactly right, and it's not like it doesn't exist elsewhere in the world. OK...

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

I can't even get carsales to quote me an instant offer! Says there are no dealers in my area (hey I'm 30 mins from Brisbane CBD, come on...) And I'm still waiting on a Tesla trade-in offer.

    NSW EV charging master plan

All the foregoing conversation, plus a dodgy SC at Berry in recent weeks, convinces me I never want to drive south from Sydney again :)

    Range anxiety and broken chargers.

One thing I've noticed is that the displayed number of stalls free is often out of date. While driving, it might change every 5 minutes, but I have no idea how accurate it is in real time. I recently arrived at an 8-stall SC where my display said 6 free and there were only 3 free. That could get...

    ChargeFox EV charging Network

Chargefox gave me a nice keyring gadget which is smaller than a card and very convenient. I had to call them though, as at the time their app didn't have the option to order one.

Legitimate locations for superchargers in 2022/23

You can suggest a site, but must put in a valid street address. It's way too fine-grained.

Second thoughts about MY. Should I get M3 instead?

The biggest argument for a 3 over a Y - imho - is the lack of a long range Y. That's what decided the choice for me. The SR Y has underwhelming performance compared to the SR 3 too, just btw, but we have never been able to compare the LR versions in the same way.

Where in garage do you mount your wall connector?

Can you still get the 7m cable option on the WC? Mine (gen 1 HPWC) is where I could get internal wiring to it easily, but on the wrong side of the car, and the cable does the rest. It also lets me park nose in or tail in.

    NRMA fast charging network

I would not go out of my way to find that single NRMA stall if I knew that a 6 or 8 stall supercharger was in the area. It's all about redundancy, which is a big part of overall reliability.

What to expect when you're expecting (Australia Delivery Process)

So the big question: what is the expected time between stage 6.2 (getting a date range for EDD) and delivery? Days? Weeks? Months? Highly variable? Asking as I have a car to sell, and want to be without my daily driver as little time as possible...

The future of CHADEMO in Australia

We might have a situation where your Leaf can get a charge and all the CCS2 plugs are in use with a waiting queue.

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

A good question and very hard to generalise, as it depends on so many things. Plugshare is your friend for planning trips, as is ABRP (A Better Route Planner). Superchargers are going in slowly, and so are third-party networks (Evie, Chargefox). For example, Noosa used to be a charger-free zone...

    Charging Adaptors 101

If you can get your hands on an old Gen1 UMC, it will charge at the full 10A (or 15A on a 3-phase tail via the Euro plug, described elsewhere). It will do 3-phase as well.

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

I can't see how it can be an excise, because it's not on a good. They would have to tax something tangible that you buy (like kWh). I don't want to give them ideas so I'll say no more :-)

Any point is buying a type 2 cable?

Probably not your stamping ground, but in Qld there are AC backup chargers located with the one single solitary DC stall in town. You'll want a Type2 cable if travelling up there out of supercharger reach and the single DC stall is in use, ICEd, or out of service. (Not complaining, at least they...

The AU find us is now showing all the coming soon SC's. They really need one between Rocky and Mackay, too. It's a long leg at 330-ish km. But I'm not grumbling, at least I can get up to the Whitsundays with little or no reliance on QESH...

    Battery Range 2016 90D

Late 2016 90D here, with a little over 100,000km on the clock. When charged to 100% it showed 415-420km when I bought it in 2018, now 400-405. Real world pretty close to that, maybe a little more. Rarely supercharged, mostly slow charging overnight at home (at least during my ownership)
