Thanks for your insight, that makes sense that those garages were not built around having that much power readily available. However it seems Tesla has installed inside of garages a lot before. Leesburg, Arlington and the newer National Harbor site are all Urban Supercharger sites in parking...

Since they didn’t have it ready for this Ski season yet I wouldn’t be surprised if this site was back burnered until summer or early fall to capture the next ski season when most cars will be traveling through to Sunday River.

Again you are simply looking at commonly traveled roads and not population centers. You also want to have Superchargers where people actually live. These are places where people actually travel to and from. Maybe you visit someone in Lewiston and you need to get back to your starting point...

I am not sure what this means. Can you please elaborate more on this? The most likely setup for this site is two V3 Supercharger cabinets, each serving 4 spots. Both cabinets sharing an 800-1,000 kVA transformer upstream. That’s been pretty standard for the 8 stall locations.

Lewiston and Auburn Maine are getting shafted again, probably because of the close proximity to Portland, Augusta and Freeport. However the area has more population than any other area in the state other than Portland. Farmington?? Are you kidding me.

Clearly I think this was built for travelers on 15 since the actual rest stops on 15 are so tiny. Greenwich is nice as a backup but it is really a joke. I never pull very much power there, and it is constantly ice’ed or banged up and partially out of service in some way.

Does this match with other V3 sites like Fremont Factory and Vegas? Are they all using 430kW cabs and sharing 4 stalls or is this configuration specific to smaller 4 and 8 stall sites.

I think it would be rather foolish for Tesla to size all of the equipment for 250kW per stall all at once for all the reasons you mention. Not to mention in a lot of cases they will simply be limited by the utilities transformer size.

Thanks that is really interesting with the 430kva cabs split between 4 stalls. I think what we are learning is that V3 is a pretty flexible architecture, it seems like they can size the cabs differently and split the power however they want depending on the site.

If the site is confirmed to have superchargers when it opens and the site itself is under construction I have no problem with listing the SC as under construction. In this case I am fairly sure the SC will open alongside the store because it is one the main attractions and they made a big deal...

If transformer size is the limitation than you could still be hurting others even at an Urban site.

They have lots of superchargers in paid parking lots unfortunately. I am in Reston and have no charging in Condo so I would probably still use it. Less than an hour of parking is not that much at the metro.

Technically they can say “Tesla” but mean that they either will have some L2 J1772 or Chademo support with the adapter. The adapter is already known to work with the ChargePoints they put in Kennebunk already so that makes sense. I have the adapter so this is good for about 50kW in a pinch, but...

If this site goes online like next week (start of Q4) I am going with the tin hat theory. Free supercharging may be booked as an Opex loss or something where as construction is Capex. Perhaps they want as little operating losses as possible in Q3??

Yes they have quite a few along with Sheetz. I would imagine if this location goes well with a lot of Tesla traffic they will continue to invest in the Charging-Only store model. So once this opens everyone support Wawa!!

Sites in permit status yes. Sites with active construction typically do not take this long unless there is a specific reason.

I’m not really understanding the comment about the Reston town center. What would make the costs higher than every other supercharger site in any garage like Leesburg or National Harbor? I have to think that Boston Properties would want them to install one there in order to attract more people...
