how much tesla insurance for model x

I’ve owned 3, Y, and X within the last 15 months, all long range modes with the same coverage with Tesla insurance in California. The X was the most expensive to insure, but only by about $15/month- it was about $150 month

Tesla wants to unmatch VIN since I'm on vacation

Good advice, I was told just last week to be prepared to take delivery within a week when buying an inventory car.

    Perforated white seat- bad idea?

I’m considering ordering the white seats on a new model X with perforated seats. it seems like stains could be more of an issue then it is with non-perforated seats in general and especially with white perforated seats. Any experiences with these, good or bad? I like the look of them, but just...

EV tax credit for model X

This has been discussed a lot here and the answer is no one really knows. Doesn’t seem likely to me for several reasons but one obvious one is it already qualifies for business owner deductions which is stated on the order page. The details are a bit unclear but I’m sure it’s helping with...

Anyone Check the Model S/X Configurator recently?

In the SF Bay Area not all the inventory cars have a discount although I’ve seen some that do. I’ve been tracking it and they tend to get discounted after they’ve been up on the site for a few days. My guess is the plan it is to deliver inventory cars with the software lock to people that...

Set Falcon door to custom height?

I had the same problem on my ‘22 and service mostly fixed it. It was still touching but not nearly as much. I noticed new cars on the lot with the same problem- I could see the dust line on the top glass. I don’t own the X anymore, but I thought you could adjust the opening height with the...

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

Now the order page for S/X mentions a $7500 tax credit for businesses, the actual details of which are murky since it’s new (please enlighten me if anyone knows more). That combined with the section 179 deduction already in place for MX, indicates that the consumer tax credit won’t ever be in...

    Matrix headlights - finally???

I went to two different tesla stores in the last few days. About 1/2 the MX had matrix and the other 1/2 didn’t. The factory might have changed over sometime in July but that’s just a guess. At least some if not most of the discounted inventory may not have matrix.

    Matrix headlights - finally???

I checked today at two different Tesla stores. They had multiple MX on site. About half of them had matrix lights and the other half didn’t. The factory must’ve changed over in the last month or so would be my guess.

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

Different use cases I guess. I’ve had 4 Ev’s over the last 12 years with this charging ‘limitation’. It’s basically a non issue- I charge to 80% all the time unless I have a road trip planned, in which case I charge to 100%.

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

I’ve been watching local 7 seat inventory daily and it’s been fairly stagnant. Hence, the prices just dropped today another few thousand $ to about a $10k discount on many. It’s tempting, along with the free fsd transfer presumably only this quarter. I think this quarter (and maybe next) are...

    recent fit and finish

I owned a ‘22 MX for six months last year and ended up trading it back for financial reasons. It was a great car but the fit and finish was so so, requiring almost 10 service visits to rectify everything from cabin noise to misalignments. I’m considering purchasing another with the fsd...

Private Seller Purchase with FSD - Guarantee they aren’t doing one FSD one-time transfer?

Just double check before accepting delivery. If the seller doesn’t own the car when they buy the new one, they won’t be able to transfer fsd. Seems fairy straightforward. Anyone trying to pull shenanigans runs the very real risk of losing fsd on both cars.
  14. B

Private Seller Purchase with FSD - Guarantee they aren’t doing one FSD one-time transfer?

Tesla has a way to prevent this scenario- buyer must be *current* owner of car with fsd when they take delivery in order to transfer. I cant think of a way you could still somehow get screwed but maybe there is one.

Can I refer my wife and get the 20k credits?

If I buy a new X I’ll be using the fsd transfer, so it will have to be in my name anyway. Many details to consider, including inventory discounts which can change daily or more.
  16. B

Can I refer my wife and get the 20k credits?

I was wondering the same thing. If you read the referral fine print, it mentions using address info to determine eligibility. I think worse case is you won’t get the credits (but still the discount) but ymmv. It depends if they have some automated way to check all the details, how strict...

Model X Matrix LED Lights (Finally)

So basically, nobody knows whether matrix headlights are standard on model X yet or not?

Elon: One-time FSD transfers for purchases in Q3

I assume it’s because you’re an existing owner. The referral link only works for new Tesla customers. I think the only option you have is to use the loyalty reward.

Model X Matrix LED Lights (Finally)

Any confirmation that recently built X LR have matrix headlights?

Elon: One-time FSD transfers for purchases in Q3

Can someone post their final price sheet for a new car with transfer? I sure hope we aren't paying sales tax on the second fsd!
  21. B

Elon: One-time FSD transfers for purchases in Q3

It is a zinger but I’ve kind of accepted it. I’ve traded two cars into Tesla both with fsd and gotten good offers (also lucky market timing). If you eventually trade in to Tesla, this ‘zinger’ likely have no affect whatsoever on their offer. What most are getting from this offer is a ‘free’...

Elon: One-time FSD transfers for purchases in Q3

Can someone confirm: If I buy a new (discounted) inventory car and get an extra $1000 off for ‘loyalty’, can I also get the fsd transfer from my current car? I know the document says no combining with other offers, so just wondering.

    Beta FSD Transfer

Check whole mars/dirty tesla Twitter. The details are there. You have to be a current fsd owner when you take delivery to get the deal. Makes sense.
  24. B

    FSD Beta v11.x

I’m hoping they don’t require a trade in, in which case I might jump at the offer. I’d be quite surprised if they did because then they’d potentially have a flood of trade ins. I guess they could lowball all the trade in offers but that would be quite disingenuous and defeat the purpose of...

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

I traded X for Y. I would have kept the X but it was mostly a financial decision to get the Y with a much lower payment. The Y is great but the X is even ‘greater’. I just couldn’t justify the extra greatness considering the price difference between the two cars.
  26. B

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

As much as I’d like to personally see the base price come down to $78,000, I have my doubts because: -demand would likely far outpace production capacity creating a long back log, which Tesla has recently eliminated on all models for better customer service/ order management/etc. -even if the...

Pull trigger on Inventory Model X or any price drop expected?

The inventory I see in the sf Bay Area looks stagnant since q2 ended. Before eoq there were more cars with bigger discounts. Makes sense from a production standpoint to distribute far and wide early in the quarter and then deliver locally at eoq. I assume international demand is fairly healthy...

    FSD Beta v11.x

I see a lot of negative posts here about 11.4.4. I just returned from vacation after updating remotely from 11.4.3. I personally see lots of subtle improvements so far. This is probably the best version for me so far despite some obvious quirks. I’ve been quite unhappy with all the 11.x...

    Moving from X to Y

They are/were recently under ‘existing inventory’. Obviously inventory changes at any time and varies by region. I’ve seen some with even bigger discounts and many others with smaller discounts. This includes new cars as opposed to new demo cars with miles from test drives.

    Moving from X to Y

Thanks. I figured it out by emailing myself the link. The ‘self refer’ loyalty option from the app doesn’t work or at least there’s no obvious discount being applied on the order page. The loyalty option is inferior anyway because there’s no referer credits available. Current X inventory in...

Pull trigger on Inventory Model X or any price drop expected?

I just saw a new inventory 5 seat X with a discounted price of -$88k, maybe $80k isn’t out of the question once demand is more saturated. International S/X deliveries from Fremont didn’t start that long ago so it will take some time to fulfill the demand from all the other countries.
  32. B

Pull trigger on Inventory Model X or any price drop expected?

I think it would qualify if it’s ever priced under $80k but that does seem like a stretch considering where prices are currently. The domestic battery sourcing requirement may also be a deal breaker but that’s hard to determine without knowing all the specifics of the battery, etc.

Charging started then stops , mobile connector

I had this problem a few years back. Turned out the the wiring/plug box hardware in the 240 v plug was getting too old (after ~10 years of no problems), and causing the safety sensor in charger to trip. It was intermittent but after several times of waking up to a partially charged car, I...

Tax credit caps at $80k unless I’m missing something?

    Moving from X to Y

Btw, new inventory X’s are available with $7500 discount. Does anyone if the $1000 referral discount can be applied on top of that?
  36. B

    Moving from X to Y

I traded a ‘22 X for a ‘23 Y 7 months ago. I’m glad I did but it was mostly for financial reasons. The timing was just before all the X price drops this year so the trade in value was ridiculously high relative to what I initially paid. If X prices drop in the future, I would be very...

    Incorrect Tesla sales strategy?

Agreed. The Tesla website has an automated trade in value estimator which gives a range. I tried it last week just for fun and the estimated range was very low (about $15k below what I think they would sell the car for based on used values). I assume if I actually ordered a new car (especially...

    FSD Beta v11.x

I’ve been fsd beta testing for about 20 months and generally agree about being overly-cautious with low visibility cross traffic. Except in my neighborhood, it’s the opposite problem, which I attribute to bad map data. It’s an urban area but the infrastructure isn’t great so we have two way...

Model X price cuts- yet again

I think the refresh model might be better quality overall but that’s just a guess based on driving the refresh vs older loaners. It sure feels that way from the drivers seat.
  40. B

Model X price cuts- yet again

The all time low was ~$80k (pre refresh). The refresh was supposed to be cheaper to build which makes sense with some shared parts with 3/Y etc. but then inflation happened so who knows?! $85k would be a good price but still slightly too much for tax credit, so it wouldn’t make much sense...
  41. B

Model X price cuts- yet again

I currently own MY and previously owned refresh X but traded in because the payment was too high and I got a good price for trade in. IMO, the X would be well worth the premium over Y if the price ever drops to ~$80k, but not so much currently. My hope is that once Cybertruck sales start, it...
  42. B

Model X price cuts- yet again

Me too, the tax credit would be in play at that point.
  43. B

Model X price cuts- yet again

Currently I don’t think the price difference is worth it, especially factoring in fed/state incentives on the Y. For me, the price difference would have to be closer to $20k to consider trading up. The automatic doors, huge windshield, performance, and extra space in the X are all really nice...
  44. B

Model X price cuts- yet again

I currently drive a Y but previously owned an X and also M3, all with fsd. There are two different software branches that are rumored to hopefully be merging with the next update. Currently, the non fsd branch has certain convenience features that the fsd sw branch doesn’t, such as greater...
  45. B

Model X price cuts- yet again

As a current fsd user, this comment is ironic considering all the other features that non-fsd cars have had for months that I don’t. This same uneven pattern of new sw feature rollouts has been repeating for a few years now.
  46. B

Would <$80k MX get US tax credit?

Just a guess, but I assume X/S customers buy or subscribe to fsd more than 3/Y customers, because they have more disposable income. If Tesla has data to support that being the case, then they’d be more motivated to sell S and X.
  47. B

Model X price cuts- yet again

X/S just got refreshed and will always be low volume so refreshing ain’t happening anytime soon imo because those resources are now going to CT, etc. Makes more sense to just drop the price. For anyone who hasn’t driven the refresh X vs the old ones, the difference is vast re...
  48. B

Model X price cuts- yet again

Stopping production is, as we all know, antithetical to the mission so, while possible, is unlikely. A $20k price drop is definitely very unlikely but $5k or $10k per quarter? That would mostly just be a continuation of what we’ve already seen. Once they get close to $80k, might as well go...

Model X price cuts- yet again

What about 2018 and 2019? I believe prices fell after the lines had been up and running. I have no specific reference but we all know the MS bottomed out at $69,420 and was in the low $70s before that, and I think the MX was ~$10k more, just like now. Maybe someone else can remember better than...

Model X price cuts- yet again

There is currently a $30k-40k premium for S/X vs 3/Y. This premium could be reduced to more like $20k and then prices would be more much more reasonable, especially with the tax credit for the X. The S/X used to be in the $70k-80k range and now with fsd being so expensive, it seems more...
