How long until we get a 400+ mile model Y?

I'd be happy if they were able to deliver a software patch for another 50 mi.

Crap on windshield! does it look like glitter or soap scum

I had some gunk on the windshield when I picked the car up. Ended up using an alcohol mix (25% Alcohol/75% H2O) and then a clay bar. Took some elbow grease but finally got the gunk off.

    FSD firmware versions

If you have FSD Beta the city streets on the screen (left side that shows your car) will be in color.

    The Eye of the Storm

Although I wouldn’t recommend this but if you search the internet there are pics and vid’s of various Teslas driving through 3-4 feet of water. Biggest problem has been that if you drive too fast you can rip the back bumper off the car.

Locked car is accessible when smartphone being used as a key is closer than around 25ft

Enable PIN to drive feature. I always worry about that issue more in the sense of having the car stolen, but you can always turn BT off on your phone as well. Or just not use your phone and just the card to open and close. Or perhaps use the FOB (not sure if that will work) but it has its own...

    'Channel Surf' Sirius on MY

I miss Sirius and wish it was included in the interface in a similar fashion to Spotify. Bluetooth connection is way too inadequate.

Extremely hot temperatures inside the cabin

Ceramic tint on the windows. 70% front wind shield and rest of car as dark as local law allows. In the North East 50% all around is sufficient. On the roof - instead of tint install the sunshade. Topfit and other brands will work great. The big honker of a windshield drives a lot of heat and a...

Random car locking noises when at home?

It’s just the car talking to you.

Little PPF strips back of rear doors...

Do your self a favor and put the front Tesla mud flaps on. I say the OEM because they are a bit longer than the non-OEM. It does help keeping the road debris damage down And very easy to install. I will admit the look does take some getting used too.

Little PPF strips back of rear doors...

They are there because they protect that back panel that gets blasted with road debris based on the cars aero dynamics. I’ve seen some pics where the paint has been completely stripped to the bare metal. I’d leave them on unless you are thinking of wrapping or repainting the car in a few years.

    2022 MYP vs MYLR?

Go with YP. Had a similar dilemma and switched from YLR to YP and never looked back. Still waiting for the YP boost mode. 😎
  12. Icehedgehog88

Which tint option would you go with?

I did 70 all around. In retrospect, should have done 70 on windshield and 50 all around. I have white seats and wanted to be able to display them from outside the YP. By using 70 on the front that would have given me enough light if I did the 50 all around. Just my two cents.

Phantom braking so bad I want to return my car

I never touched the speed icon. It just does it randomly. BTW thanks for pointing me to the manual which confirms the weirdness of what’s going on.

Phantom braking so bad I want to return my car

Yes - I’ve experienced the phantom braking and it sure scares the 💩out of ya. But here is an interesting twist and not sure others have noticed this. I’d have AP engaged and set to 75mph in a 65mph zone. Traffic was all moving at 75mph or more. I crossed from a 65mph zone to a 55mph zone...

Tesla Model Y Performance Real Horsepower and Torque

Waiting for the MYP to have a software switch to have a performance performance mode. 😁
  19. Icehedgehog88

Air conditioning system strength (in general)

Very disappointed with heat pump performance in my 22 MYP. Had it in twice for service and they have been able to replicate the issue with inadequate cooling. They’ve swapped some parts but still sucks. Anything above 91F it struggles. Even after the supposed repairs.
  20. Icehedgehog88

Air Conditioning Reduced DC FastCharging/Supercharging rate may be reduced -Error Help

Had a similar experience with a 22 MYP. No error message but A/C struggled to keep cabin cool. Guess is a majority of the cooling was sent to the battery. The SC cable was very very hot when I disconnected. All in all have been very disappointed with heatpump as it struggles with anything about 91F

Will aftermarket electrical upgrade affect manufacture warranty

If you are an Apple Watch user I would consider using Watch for Tesla or Stats. Both provide Siri connectivity and very handy in opening (or closing) the trunk when hands are preoccupied.

Inconsistent air conditioning A/C performance with new Model Y

Also having inconsistent A/C issues. Sometimes I can cool a six pack, other times during the summer I can throw a shrimp on the barbie. One pattern I’m noticing is when the car moves from cabin overheat protection to A/C when driving. Had to do a hard reboot which seemed to clear the issue. Will...

    First Road Trip

Real world range is about 275mi if you keep it under 70 in a MYP. The route planner is real good at telling you where to recharge so use that first. ABRP (an app) is also very good at helping you plan out your route. It’s fine to charge your car to 95 or even 100% just before hitting the road...

Can I walk-in service center if my model Y AC stopped working in hottest summer days?

Yes - I started to look into tinting. I know the front windshield gets a ton of solar gain but the roof seems not as much - does that make sense?
  25. Icehedgehog88

Can I walk-in service center if my model Y AC stopped working in hottest summer days?

Mine has been flakey as well. It struggles with temps above 89 degrees Fahrenheit. At one point I did a hard or cold boot of the car and it cleared it for a period of time. The problem did come back, however. Have an appointment scheduled in a couple of weeks.

    Finally Got FSD Beta

Received FSD Beta tonight. Will be interesting to see how it handles the heavy traffic in S.W. CT.
  28. Icehedgehog88

Why is the model Y the red headed step child of Tesla?

If the point here is that there should be more bells and whistles for what we are paying, I'd have to agree. Things like HUD would be a great addition and not detract from the minimalistic design and an option in most vehicles at this price range.

    Model Y 2021 Cargo box

    High Frequency Noise/Hum-New Model Y

I suspect the other way to cure the whine might be to use noise cancelling. I would think it might be an easy software fix. But just a guess.

When I take it in at some point. Kind'a getting use to it.

Model Y Performance - Track Mode

I want track mode and acceleration boost for MYP to get 0-60 below 3.5 Sec. I want my eyeballs to be in the backseat when I hit the juice instead of the back of my head.

Please disagree with my opinion! =)

Back in 2011 Jaguar developed a dual screen view so that a passenger could use the main console screen and watch TV or Movie yet when sitting in the drivers seat you only saw the cars instrument panel. It was never released in the US because of potential issues under various state laws, but...
