    Sentry Mode not working?

Only thought is whether you're using a USB hub of some sort. Are you getting USB device error messages? I noticed something similar when I had a Taptes hub installed on my Model 3 with my storage going through it. Dashcam and Sentry still seemed to work mostly, but after removing it the USB...

2018 Model 3 Resistive Cabin Heater not working while driving

Title states it's a 2018 with resistive heat. I've seen a couple other similar threads. One example: 2018 Model 3 with Intermittent no heat

    Model 3 in Snow/Ice

I can't wait that long :) I am curious if the 'handling balance' setting actually increases use of the front motor under normal conditions at all (ie, increasing from zero to anything at all when not under full 'throttle'). Who's got ScanMyTesla and a P to do a quick test? Edit - I was about...

    Preheating and effceiency questions.

I'm basically never a spelling / grammar critic, but "effceiency," the question mark after "Thank you?" and "posts tittle" had me cracking up a bit :) @Rocky_H is spot on as usual. My 1980's garage door came off the track recently so I can relate somewhat. My car was in the garage at the time...

    Model 3 in Snow/Ice

@tm1v2 I don't own a Performance, but my understanding is that the selectable torque split in track mode only applies under heavy cornering / slip angles. Even in track mode with 50/50 (or whatever) selected, your straight line torque delivery is still going to be heavily (mostly entirely) rear...

Windows try to “close” after brake pedal is pressed.

I've noticed this too. Seems to have started with the last update for me (2021.44.30.5), unless it's a cold weather related thing or something.

A way to get the battery temperature?

Pretty sure iOS devices require the MX+. I don't think the LX or MX will work.

Another subwoofer option - NVX Audio

Yes, earlier models had a ported/vented rear deck. I think @n2fooz swapped his. Found it: Some of us want to hear our Subwoofer more than we hate road noise.

Map stuck on satellite mode even at night

Weird. Mine has always behaved exactly like @eCharcoal describes. Night mode always switched it from satellite maps to the dark vector map, then it would switch back to satellite in the morning. I just thought it was a v11 enhancement to apply some kind of darker filter to the satellite view...

For the mortals without a homecharger...

Is it possible to get a dedicated charging spot set up at work? That's the only way I'd personally see this as feasible.

Charging port door closes very quickly

"Cold weather improvements" I guess? :) Never seen anything like this in my 2018 (not in a cold climate).

Any way to see supercharger rates on nav in car with free supercharging

Can't offer any advice on how to see the pricing if you have free supercharging. I guess you theoretically can see it on the car nav if you're pay-per-use but I've never actually looked. Here's some charges from my account from a recent trip. Seems to work out pretty well in practice.

Trip Screen- Predicted Grey Line (not actual green line) Changed Mid-Trip. Why?

Maybe a traffic based re-route or something occurred in the nav plan without you noticing?

MASTER THREAD: Powering house or other things with Model 3

Ya, I've got the 1000x. I haven't actually used camp mode other than just to check it out a single time, but I think that should work. I'm not sure if it does that thing still where it leaves the display on with a campfire picture or something. Sentry Mode on would keep the car awake too. Not...

MASTER THREAD: Powering house or other things with Model 3

Regarding the Goal Zero conversation, I did go ahead and grab the 12v car charger. I've got a 1kWh lithium unit so figured it was worth having on hand just in case. Works as expected. On the 10 amp setting it's actually charging a little faster than the supplied 120v adapter in the house. Not...

    In Service mode

Service Mode disables your ability to see location in the Tesla app, but it doesn't actually disable GPS location through the API. When I'm in service mode I can still see the car move through 3rd party services (TeslaFi, Tessie, etc) so I know they've actually moved it into the shop and are...

I'm not really disagreeing, but if your goals revolve around 1) easy 2) cheap 3) safe / no hassle (going through known metered & monitored connections) 4) 200W solar panel is available 5) supplemental 3 kWh are available 6) powering a sleep apnea machine and a couple other critical but...

Add a 110v outlet inside of the car?

Is this post seriously meant to add something to this six year old thread, or are you just trying to impress us with your knowledge of how to trade in a phone?
  23. B

V11 is going to be HUGE!

What's wrong with Focii? Focus RS was a cool hot hatch. I might have taken an electric Focus over a Leaf if they were widely available. I did drive a Leaf at one point though so fully admit my cool cards have been revoked.

Does charging with a 240 V fast charger plug at home (30 mph) use more electricity (cost more) than charging with regular 110 V (5 mph) charger? Thx

No, it actually uses less on 240 due to the fixed overhead incurred while the car is awake and charging. A slower charge means you're running with that overhead for longer and wasting more power.

    Android live camera

I haven't seen a common denominator for the failures. Works fine for me on my Pixel 4XL on Android 12 every time and combination of car/phone on wifi/cell. Riveting view of the inside of my garage. Edit - maybe comparing cell carriers and/or any VPNs in use would help. There have been on and...

Repair Costs [for squeaky suspension noises]

Most likely front upper control arm. Pretty common problem. Mine was replaced under warranty so can't see costs on the invoice, but I think I've seen other people post in the $500 range for one side. Are you out of warranty? Would be nice if Tesla listed prices in the parts catalog. Think the...

Auto high beams and auto wipers worse on 2022 than 2018

@Maxpilot does indicate he's in Kansas, so I'm guessing there's a big perception gulf between mostly plains and mostly forested areas in regards to the need for high beams.

lightweight wheels model 3 performance 0-60 testing

I will say that my instinct would have been that @gearchruncher was right and the vehicle is always at it's amp limit. But I'm perfectly willing to concede that's wrong and the governing is more complex than I'd have expected since @Sam1 and others have tested while holding as much constant as...

lightweight wheels model 3 performance 0-60 testing

That part has been in place for years :) I just don't trust the speedo and CAN reading delays to give particularly accurate 0-60, etc results from ScanMyTesla. And I do sometimes navigate to a supercharger with no intent of going there just to watch the temps and see my max kW discharge go up...

lightweight wheels model 3 performance 0-60 testing

Thank you to both sides of this debate for convincing me to go ahead and buy a dragy. I guess my vtech from 1999 can finally rest in peace in a landfill (after I find it in some box, somewhere...) :)

Auto high beams and auto wipers worse on 2022 than 2018

Huh, I guess it is different then. I can keep AP/FSD enabled but still disable auto-brights with the stalk (I haven't looked at the menu in settings though). Granted I have to do it every single time I deactivate/reactivate which is a lot with the state of FSDBeta.
  35. B

Auto high beams and auto wipers worse on 2022 than 2018

You can't disable it on your car, or you just mean not have it auto-enable every single time? On mine, the auto brights do come on every time I enable AP/FSD, but I can then disable them with a push on the stalk. My car is a 2018 with radar, but it's on FSDBeta so I assumed behavior would be...

Battery Degradation or something else [vampire drain - resolved-scheduled departure setting]

Ya, the scheduling features seem to cause the car to wake more often. I've noticed the same thing with a scheduled charging start time I enabled recently. It does seem to be smart enough to sleep normally if the car isn't plugged in though. When I leave it disconnected it goes back to sleeping...

    Ingenext Boost Modules [aftermarket]

Exactly right. It just pops the electronic door release like pushing the button. You gotta spend another $50-75k for Model X level awesome sauce. It is a cool feature on the X, but don't think I'd ever buy one.

Model S Mobile Connector Melts 3 Times Even After Tesla Service Repair

Definitely an interesting one-off situation, don't think I've ever seen anything like this before. @Rocky_H - even if the car was somehow requesting more amps than allowed it would indicate a multi-point failure with the car and UMC though, right? The UMC should be dictating max amps drawn and...

    Ingenext Boost Modules [aftermarket]

That's annoying, but I guess in the modern world that's the only possible communication channel. Reminds me of that scene where Kramer is trying to opt out of the mail. "What about your cards and letters? Email, telephones, fax machines, fedex, telex..."

    Background App closes.

Agree. I've done Samsung here and there. Enjoyed one of the earlier Note's when they were significantly building on what was available in the stock android platform (especially decent cameras!), but I tried the Note 10 and Pixel 4 (XL) at the same time and couldn't take the Samsung experience...

    Background App closes.

Sorry, off topic, but as an Android nerd I'd say 'stock android' and Google phones started diverging after the Nexus line turned into the Pixel line. I'm not sure 'stock android' even exists anymore (and maybe shouldn't or doesn't matter) since Google puts so much proprietary stuff into their...

M3P to Plaid - some thoughts

Don't most vehicles use rear corner radar for real blind spot monitoring (and reverse cross-traffic alert)? I think that's the real issue - unless you trust the limited range ultrasonics and Telsa Vision. To me, it's the sensors that are the issue rather than the presentation of the alert...

MASTER THREAD: Powering house or other things with Model 3

GZ makes a 12v car charging cable that I think is compatible with most of the product line. If the power is out for longer than your 3000 can support directly just plug into the car's 12v outlet and put the car in camp mode (with AC turned off), turn on sentry mode, or whatever to keep the car...

Vendor Watt Time & Watt Key - Wear OS Watch Apps To Control Your Tesla

Now that would be awesome! I didn't even know that was possible - I thought anything outside the actual Tesla app phone-key functionality had to go through the API. Time to buy a new watch I guess. A couple months ago I finally got around to replacing the battery in my LG Watch Sport, only for...

    FSD Beta 10.6

Not totally on-topic, but I find the stopping for traffic controls to be the best part of the beta. If that was how 'stop for traffic control' or whatever it's called worked in regular AP it would be a useful addition (with the exception of sometimes needing accelerator input at 4 way stops...

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

Yes, it's possible and a pretty good solution if there is nothing else on that circuit (since you're converting the whole thing to 240v). See discussion here: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/convert-nema-5-20-to-6-20.115584/
