    Brake dust

I don't think it's brake dust. Just road grime from the aerodynamics of the car. You'll notice it more in rainy weather.

    Looking for some help

This is the map of reservation holders, a voluntary map of course, which shows 3 in the Charleston area. You could try to do a little sleuthing and link res #'s to TMC members for a direct request. I think also there is a pretty active Atlanta area group you could try to get in touch with. I...

Trouble in NC: Senate Bill 327

Anybody know of any upcoming activity/debate etc. with this bill? I'm driving to NC next week to visit my Mom and considering stopping off in Raleigh. Interesting side note, I looked up the bill on the NC Senate website and noted that one of the co-sponsors is my Mom's representative. He also...

getting hand caught while door handle retracts ?

I tried a search on youtube but couldn't find it. There's a video of a someone's 2 year old getting a finger pinched by the handle (on purpose) and smiling the whole time. It's happened to me a couple of times and it's alarming but doesn't hurt. Edit: Ahh you found it!

Trouble in NC: Senate Bill 327

C.Ford - Now that's some serious lobbying! Well done. Where are you in eastern NC? I grew up in Wilson. Here's an article from CNN. Not much new but the comment regarding how dealers introduce competition into the marketplace is complete crap. Anybody try to buy a Prius when it was the hot...

I believe I solved my seat belt rattle!

I haven't noticed any rattle from mine, but I'm sure I will now after reading this thread! I recall reading once of a solution for balky retraction of the rear seat belts being cured by removal of a plastic piece from inside the roller mechanism (done at a service center). Could this be the same...

What Would You Put in Your S?

I put about 10 bags of topsoil and mulch in the back of mine. A guy walked by and said "I've never seen anybody load dirt in a car that nice before". - - - Updated - - - Hey Kevin, how long was that 2x6? I need to replace one on my back deck and was curious if it would fit in the S. Nervous...

    Tesla vs. TSLA

I'd say the Model S. I've enjoyed the car more than a sober accounting of a certain dollar amount sitting in a retirement account somewhere would have provided. That being said, I wish I would have financed more of the car and plowed the cash into TSLA.

    Going through Richmond to Raleigh

I stayed at the Jefferson on my last trip and there are several 110 outlets in the cobblestone circle in front of the hotel. They let me park there and charge overnight. Word is they are considering installing an EV charger, so it would be worth a phone call if you're planning on staying there...

Clarity on WHEN one actually pays Tesla the big bucks when buying a Model S?

My payment process was surprisingly laid back. I had home delivery and before the car was sent out from the service center, the DS asked for loan paperwork. I FedEx'ed that in and a few days later I got the car. I financed 50K so there was still a significant chunk o' change left to be paid and...

Using the Model S at a parking garage or valet

I'm not sure if the issue qualifies for outrage. A few people have run into problems when keeping the fob, at what I assume is,really close to the car. My keys stay on my kitchen counter or in a drawer about 50 ft away from the car. My door handles retract and car locks when I stand on my side...

    Going through Richmond to Raleigh

I've used the Science Museum charger about 1 month ago, got about 17 miles/hr. VCU has 2 groups of chargers, one on Broad St at Harrison (I think) across the street from the Siegel Center. I tried to use that one but the garage is closed on weekends. The other is on the MCV campus, North garage...

Owners delivery stories, photos and first impressions

Some point in the delivery questionnaire I checked a box to not have the holder installed and the holder and screws were in the trunk well at delivery. I'm sure, if you're picking up at a service center, they can give you the hardware if it's not in the car. I ultimately put my front plate on...

    RDU Airport Charging

Thanks for checking AJ! I had hoped for a 110 somewhere. If the Service center doesn't work out, I may go to Plan B which is visit my Mom who lives in Wilson the day before, range charge on her dryer outlet, and hopefully leaving me only needing a 1-2 hour cushion charge in Durham before heading...

New level 2 charger at UVA Garage, Charlottesville

Thanks for the info. Go Wahoos! On a similar note, on a recent trip to Richmond I had planned on topping off at the VCU parking garage on Broad/Harrison while we visited a friend nearby. That garage, however, is closed on weekends.

    RDU Airport Charging

June 2nd. I appreciate the help. I'm coming from 2 hours away and will be gone the whole week, so the vampire drain would mean sitting somewhere for a few hours before driving back home. I'm going to call around later this week before hitting up the service center. I'm sure they would not be...

What Options I would Buy now that I have 2 teslas

Nice to see the comparison from the same owner. I am a tech package fan and I agonized over this option. The TBT nav is the centerpiece but I think it's the additive effect of the little things that just make this a nicer car to drive. I also don't think it's necessarily overpriced in comparison...

Consumer Reports: "The electric car that shatters every myth"

I agree, Sparky, this will be a nice mainstream push for Tesla. I'm the only Tesla owner locally and several people at work know I have a cool electric car but not much more. I have talked in detail about the car to a few people. Yesterday, on 2 occasions at work, people commented on the...

    What it's all about

Well since folks are breaking out the kid pics: This is my youngest when he gets the first look coming out of the truck on delivery day. We had it delivered to a Lowes parking lot near our house. I couldn't keep it a secret from our 13 year old but managed to surprise the little guy.

Trouble coupling to and detaching adapters from the UMC?!

I was absent mindedly changing adapters once and forgot to push the little button. I kept tugging until the adapter ripped of, taking the little locking spring with it. Adapters slide right on and off now! I asked my service rep about it and he didn't think there was really a fix for it and...

Need help with road trip to Olympic Peninsula

A heavy duty 110V 15A extension cord is part of my road trip armamentarium and I've used mine without problems (15 foot cord only though). I'm sure many will tell you they've used longer 15A cords as well. A homemade 10-30 to 14-50 adapter using a 14-50 outlet to 10-30 dryer cable is also part...

    RDU Airport Charging

Anyone know what's available at RDU? I've come up with nothing on a search and wondering if anyone had experience with any of the private parking companies there. I'm also considering asking if I can leave the car at the Tesla Service Center as it looks to be close by.

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Reminds me of a joke my son recently told me: Captain of a warship gets the report "Enemy ship on the horizon, sir!" He orders his assistant, "Bring me my red shirt!". The battle goes well and afterwards, his officers ask why he wore the red shirt. He replied "If I were shot, the crew would not...

    Windshield washer fluid sprayers???

I recently adjusted mine by using a needle. The nozzle's are recessed a bit, so I used a surgical needle holder to grab it, small needle nose pliers might also work. Just stick the needle in the nozzle and adjust. A very slight bit of motion only is needed. My first effort had washer fluid...

Tesla is changing hearts and minds.

That's good to see, Rifleman. The Model S appeal beyond the tree hugger crowd (of which I am a member) is one of the reasons I invested in Tesla. I'm still working on a name for my Model S - maybe Rodney (King). "Can't we all just get along?"

Thanks for the info Aaron. That's a very nice installation. I'm a generally "bike inside the car" guy, but family road trips with the dog would mean bike has to ride outside, unless I pull a Romney.

200 mile daily commute - effect on battery life?

If you can charge free at work, I say it's a no brainer. Your work is basically funding your return drive home. Put your train pass fees into the "new battery fund" and hit the road!

Thumbs up Todd. The cop was fishing for a free ride, he gave you an out, and you let him have it. Good for you!
