The forums have become pretty weak with the pictures. Gratuitous pic from my last road trip to help you guys through. Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, VA. Security let me charge in this spot overnight at a 110V since they didn't have anything in their parking lot.

    S or X or Wait?

Regardless of the car we drive, my family uses the floor of the car as storage space and the Model S has way more of that.

Options you wish you chose...but didn't

I agonized over options as I didn't want the car to balloon to a $100K machine. Last year you had to get leather for the seat heaters and I regret the lack of this in mine, otherwise the textile interior has been fine. I'm not an audiophile and I have old man ears - the standard sound system...

Genius! Tesla's designers made the space between the rear wheel wells EXACTLY...

Not long after I got mine I was at Lowe's, parked in front loading her with bags of dirt and mulch. Guy commented "I ain't never seen anybody load dirt in a car that nice before".

    Game changer and life changer

Great to hear! Day 2 or 3 with my MS, the wife and I did an 80 mile round trip for lunch. I've never done that before. When I was a kid, I was a big Rush fan, coming home from work the other day I had Rush dialed in on Slacker and the Prologue to 2112 came on. It's about a 20 min song and my...

    Official: Model S Service Plans

I live about 130 miles from the nearest service center and signed up for the 4+4 ranger plan 4 days ago. I thought this week's announcement was supposed to be about superchargers! My previous car ownership history has been to get a reliable car and drive it into the ground, changing the oil...

    Northern Virginia Model S Owners!

Hey TL, I was just visiting Richmond this weekend and got a lot more interest and questions about the MS than here in Lynchburg. It was a nice visit and reminded me how much I like RVA. I stayed at the Jefferson which doesn't have chargers (Omni has 2 for those planning on a visit). I noticed a...

    Home made charging adapters

Thanks for the compilation! I'd just like to add that I prepped for the arrival of my S by making a 10-30 / 14-50 adapter (10-30 dryer cord wired into 14-50 receptacle) using advice from this site and the Tesla Motors forums and it has really come in handy. Used it on 2 of 3 road trips in the...

Tesla Motors Announces 2013 Annual Stockholder Meeting

That would be fun to mesh into a Bay Area trip but I'll be attending a nephew's high school graduation instead. I hereby delegate my proxy vote to gg - as long as it includes a vote for free service plans for all VIN's < 6000.

    Electric Lawnmowers

I was electric mower long before the electric car. I hated the first mowing of the spring with the ICE mower. Damn thing would never start and I'd battle and cuss for hours, gas and grease all over. Now it's plug and go!

    Pics: Dirty Model S

My blue was covered in pollen today to a thickness to make it look golden. Washed and waxed now, so good for another 2 or 3 days. Sorry no pics. There's a pic on here of someone's covered in snow, salt, and slush. Might be of interest to a Norwegian. I'm thinking it might be Robert.Boston's.

Loud AC sound from outside (video)

We had our first 90+ day here recently and I got the same (very loud) sound. Definitely not a sound that would be covered up by an ICE and kind of embarrassing. I actually turned the AC off at a stop light it was so loud.

    Reservation costs rebate

You should get a refund. What ultimately happened with my Virginia registration is Tesla just sent a check for the taxes and $199.50 registration I paid. I went and registered the car and paid myself, and it cost < the total I had paid to Tesla. Unfortunately they made the check out to DMV...

167 miles on my first full charge on 85 !!! woowhoo

I've gotten rated range on my first two road trips. The first, car was fully loaded with people and luggage and had to drive pretty conservatively. Second was by myself and no special care was taken. Not much high speed freeway driving though. (> 73 mph)

Steering "Click" at stop and low speed--normal or not

I just noticed the click as well the past couple of days, while maneuvering in a friend's driveway. It's more low speed/no speed extreme steering wheel turning than I normally do. Haven't noticed anything else out of the ordinary other than I got the TPMS service warning for the first time...

First Road Trip - Lynchburg, VA to Emerald Isle, NC

I did essentially a full standard charge, and depending on electricity rates, probably used about $10-15 worth of electricity, so I thought it was a fair price. I didn't shop around any either. This was the only place I called. Another factor to consider is how full the campground is. There were...

First Road Trip - Lynchburg, VA to Emerald Isle, NC

This is a long post but I've always enjoyed other people's trip reports, thought I'd contribute my own. I've had my Model S for a little less than a month and have yet to have the opportunity to venture more than 30-40 miles away from home until this week. Last Tuesday, I loaded up the wife and...

    Virginia registration happened pretty quickly.

I got the same packet and registration went smoothly. The check Tesla sent was made out to DMV, instead of me, and since the total of tax, title, registration was less than the check, DMV wouldn't accept it. I don't blame DMV, as that creates headaches for refunding the balance. I'm not sure...

Pretty sure it's a glitch from the website re-do. My service plan button is gone and it's asking me to finance my already delivered S.

    Virginia registration happened pretty quickly.

I wouldn't expect a headache so much. If you don't get the paperwork I mentioned above at delivery, just call within a few days to check on progress. If nothing's happening, ask them to Fedex the paperwork to you, go to DMV and you're done. Of course DMV out here in the sticks is a different...

    Virginia registration happened pretty quickly.

3 weeks after delivery, I emailed ownership to ask what's up on my registration. I got a call back the next day asking for a few details, then 2 days later (yesterday) another call to let me know about the Fedex package coming today. It has a Certificate of Origin, bill of sale and a check made...

    Schizophrenic Door Handles?

I've tried that a few times and it's never worked. I'm still on 4.2. As far as Todd's issue, maybe once or twice this has happened, I assume some form of RF or receiver burp. My door handles occasionally act oddly but never to the point of failure or beyond minor annoyance. Of course, recently...
