OK, which one of you is this?

Take a look at Ohmman's Airstream posts here in these forums. He's done a bunch of research and testing while pulling his Airstream and is the place to start looking for information.

OK, which one of you is this?

Not me, but those Bowlus trailers are gorgeous...and really, really, really expensive. If they bought it new, they spent way more on the trailer than they did the car.

what is the true cost of owning a Tesla MX ?

I have two MXs. Mine has ~43,000 miles and my wife's has ~24,000 miles. Never had to have the FWD worked on. Don't know where you got that $1,200/year figure, but it's ridiculous. Biggest expense has been tires, but other than heavier weight and the fact that you can't rotate the tires due...

Tesla Offer Trunk/Frunk Group Buy (3/S/X)

Have not had any problem like that with either of my MXs. Only occasional odd thing is it will slow down when closing for the last five inches every now and then. I'd contact Raymond.

    Ipace to X

The car itself does have to be unlocked. For the fob, it's the back end. Click and release once and it opens the trunk, but if you hold it down, the charging port door will open if it's closed, or the connector will unlock if it's plugged in. I don't use it since I have a Tesla wall charger...

    Ipace to X

Yes, it is easier with the Tesla wall charger. If you have the fob with you, you can also hold down on the back end and it will unlock the connector.

    Ipace to X

And while the button is nice, it's also just as easy to just push on the forward corner of the cover and it will open right up without needing to use the app, or the center screen, or the key fob. Choices are good!

Tesla Offer Trunk/Frunk Group Buy (3/S/X)

Raymond said the frunk button solution lets anyone who can find the button open the frunk, even if the car is locked. I assume when you said it was "not for everyone", that in your application it's not a concern for you.

Tesla Offer Trunk/Frunk Group Buy (3/S/X)

@ScottieLV #3 - How do you do that??!! I emailed them asking if there was such a thing, but I never got an answer. I guess that's the difference between the customer side vs the technical side. Agree that Raymond is great and keeps weird hours.

Tesla Offer Trunk/Frunk Group Buy (3/S/X)

When you did the install, did you do the manual pushing of the safety latch step he shows at 28:53 in the video? With all the stopping and starting of the video I did, I missed that the first time and couldn't understand why the hood wasn't being drawn down and locked that last bit.

Tesla Offer Trunk/Frunk Group Buy (3/S/X)

Just finished the frunk install on both of our Model Xs. The first one took a while since it is not ideal to try and perform an installation based solely on a YouTube video. Starting, stopping, rewinding, wake the phone up, etc. The second one, unsurprisingly, went very quickly. During the...

    2020.40.x

Good point, yes. Don't see variable speed limits much in the states and the existing limits rarely change. The few I have seen are on toll express lanes and even they don't really change much - besides the fact that people seem to ignore them around here anyway! I can definitely see how...

    2020.40.x

Yes, didn't mention the glovebox PIN feature. The speed limit sign reading wording seems the same as the previous version. There is a tweak to the wording about traffic light and stop sign control, but I'll shut up now since I just noticed that the top of the notes says Early Access!

    2020.40.x

Nothing earth-shattering. Biggest thing for my 2017/2018 MXs is you can prioritize which bluetooth device the car connects with first, which is a customer request, I believe.

    Floor pattern on supercharger station

I wouldn't say obviously. Those chargers have only been there since 2017, but that parking garage has been there much longer than that. Those stains are from ICE cars before the chargers were installed. You can see them in the pictures leading up to the installation. Good example of the...

Model Y Brake Controller 4-pin Pigtail

Don't know if the Y configuration is different, but the pigtail for both of our X's came in the package that holds the separate receiver that gets installed when you need it. I had to splice the connector that came with my Teknosha brake controller to the pigtail. Then the connector part of...

Falcon Wing Door Glass Seal deteriorating

Neither of our two Model Xs have had this problem (Sep '17 & Jun '18). They are both garaged, but my 2017 has over 41,000 miles on it and would have had significantly more if not for COVID-19. Maybe it's actually a good thing I haven't washed them much?

Trailer Brake Controller - factory installed?

I have a 3rd party brake controller for my MX, and I've always wondered why couldn't the car handle that function itself. It has accelerometers just like the controller, obviously already has the proper wiring, and given everything else the car is capable of, it seems like a relatively simple...

Anyone with FSD or just purchased FSD and got scheduled (MCU2)?

Well, all by itself probably not, but the MCU2 upgrade as a whole was worth it to me and many others. I haven't used FM radio for years and didn't really care about the "infotainment" part, so I don't really like that label. For me, I liked the fact that the upgrade added recording of the rear...

    Rear mounted bike rack

When I bought our first Model X, they had just switched (in the US only, apparently) to providing the hitch mount as standard. Unfortunately the production line didn't get the word and mine didn't have one. The service center ordered the parts and was able to install it there in a day. It...

    MCU1 infotainment upgrade

I did include that in the notes when I scheduled it in the app, but I think they would have done it automatically anyway since eliminating the MCU1 bypasses the current roadblock to upgrading MCU1/HW2.5 cars to HW3. Our local SC has been doing HW2.5 to HW 3.0 upgrades for almost six months now.

    MCU1 infotainment upgrade

As quickstrike12 and Bmac mentioned above, you can check out your configuration by going to Software and then "additional vehicle information". Zanary's post above indicates that the official Tesla line is that they are not scheduling HW 2.0 vehicles until later this month, and then only for...

Honolulu SC just completed my MCU2 Upgrade

Thank you for the pointer, and will take a while to process it all. I figured there must have been a good deal of discussion somewhere on it. However, I think we're all still interested to see what the images from a 2.0 dashcam look like, even myself coming from 2.5 hardware.

Honolulu SC just completed my MCU2 Upgrade

So that poses an interesting question about the way the traffic light detection works. If that visualization is working correctly for you, then the AP processing must be going off of light intensity and position, kind of like someone who is color-blind. If so, what is the plan for the color...

Honolulu SC just completed my MCU2 Upgrade

Akikiki, easy enough to check if you enabled the dashcam using a usb memory stick. If the recorded video is color, you must have gotten new cameras as well.

Honolulu SC just completed my MCU2 Upgrade

I see that now, thanks. Well, either the paperwork is wrong, or he's running with B&W cameras. However, the visualizations for the traffic lights is showing the correct colors. So unless the algorithm works off just intensity and position, it would appear as though they did indeed replace the...

Anyone with FSD or just purchased FSD and got scheduled (MCU2)?

Mobile service just came to fix the trim piece and reset the Remote Security Director. Instead of replacing just the one wood-grain piece, he replaced all of them as a set to keep them the same. Took about an hour, although I'm sure the reset portion only took a minute or two. Everything...

    MCU1 infotainment upgrade

Bmac - If you have dashcam, then you are at least HW 2.5. MCU1 with HW2.5 dashcam records the front and two side cameras facing the rear. MCU2 with HW2.5 and 3.0 adds the rear camera to the recording.

Anyone with FSD or just purchased FSD and got scheduled (MCU2)?

I guess they're still learning how to do this. I would use those words: reset the "Remote Security Detector", and describe what you can and cannot do in the app. If it's the same problem, which it probably is, when you hit "unlock" in the app it indicates that the car is unlocked, but it...

Yeah - never got an invite for the HW3 update to our 2018 MX, and didn't get an invite for the MCU2/HW3 update to our 2017 MX. I just went ahead and scheduled them in the app and they took the 2018 last December and took the 2017 last week. Worst that can happen to you is they cancel the...

peteyswift, mine must have been done right after yours. Did my 2017 MX last Friday at the same SC. I scheduled it on Monday and brought it in at 8:30 AM that Friday. They had it done by 2 PM that day. Agree that the display is much more responsive. Only issues were that they accidentally...

    MCU1 infotainment upgrade

I just had my September 2017 Model X with MCU1, AP2.5, FSD upgraded to MCU2/AP3 last Friday. Tysons, Virginia service center. Maybe your SC doesn't have the same parts availability. I believe Akikiki is having his Model S with AP2.0 done in Hawaii today, so I think it's more SC-dependent than...

What's the Trick to Get the Hardware Upgrade?

For what it's worth, instead of waiting any longer for the AP3 hardware install I just went ahead and scheduled both of our Model Xs in the app last December for the AP3 install in conjunction with the yellow screen fix. At the time our configuration was a 2017 Model X 100D, MCU1, AP2.5, FSD...

Had the upgrade done last Friday, which dumped all of the car's preset information. Came home, entered my wifi password and connected with no problem. I have an Orbi mesh system with both 2.4 and 5 GHz (same SSID). I know that doesn't help you other than the fact that it shouldn't be that...

    Model X Actual MCU2 Upgrade from MCU1
