I think it will be mostly aluminum. The weight in this situation is more important than the cost since most of the cost savings are coming from the battery. If the lighter materials allow for less needed battery, that's even more savings.
I don't think it would make sense to commit to an exact battery size this far ahead of the Gigafactory being fully operational. I think any technology the already exists on the S that they plan on using with the 3 will be unveiled Thurdsday. We definitely need to hear about supercharging.
They should ask everyone where they planned on picking up the car or what type of delivery was preferred. Anyone who wants to pick up a the factory should get priority over all regions.
They came to the Baton Rouge Supercharger on the day after my birthday and I scheduled a test drive. but they called and told me they had already ran out of time slots. I like to think they'll be back before I get my model 3.
It's odd that it doesn't say 10am PST but it says you can go when the store opens. It also says the exact time one of the unveiling. And since you can now order online on the 31st, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to order in store when it opens since the time zone differences won't make a...
I think they will look just like the S and X but work differently. You press the door "handle" and the door pops open without a motor. Kinda like some microwave doors are.
1. Biggest available battery
2. AWD
3. Audio upgrade
4. Autopilot
5. Nicer rims (not necessarily bigger)
5. Paint upgrade
6. Next Gen Seats
Outside of forums, there is no reason to believe SC access won't be included. I have 0 interest in the performance version or a moon roof.
I'm not sure about this, I've heard them say "20% smaller" and "20% lighter" They have recently said the size of an A4 and since they will have a prototype on the 31st I doubt that is wrong.
Taking a 3.5 hour drive to the nearest store (not a big deal for me, I make the same drive every Saturday for work). Probably waking up at 2am that morning. Planning on calling again near the end of the month to see if I need to change my plans.
Their past performance was a proof of concept vehicle, followed by the first vehicle they ever built from the group up, and then the model X which they have admitted that they put too much new stuff in. The model 3 should be a different ballgame.
Once the production of oil in other countries slows down, the price will go right back up. But who know when/if that will happen any time soon. I think when Tesla gets the price of the batteries you won't be looking at paying a premium to drive an electric car, you will paying roughly the same...
I think in 2 years they will be down to 35k or lower. It's probably gonna be a 6 year old car. A quick look an KBB says a 2010 6 series is worth up to $29k. I used the 2010 BMW because it's currently 6ish years old. When inventory was good, they had CPO model S60s in the high 40's. It would...
That could be solved by putting the charger between two parking spaces instead of in front of one. That being said, I'm not sure if any locations are already that way or if Tesla would be interested in modifying superchargers for that reason
How many superchargers regularly have a wait? Is it just the ones in huge cities? I think the availability of Supervhargers is being way overblown by the people there who have to wait in line because their neighbors don't want to charge at home.
EXACTLY!!!!! when i look at the i3 and even some aspects of the Bolt and Leaf, I just feel like they aren't serious about selling these cars. I'm shocked the BMW, a company that makes beautiful cars throughout their entire lineup also made the i3.
If I had to get a Bolt, it would have to be black so I won't notice that silly black line on the front. I"m putting my deposit down on the 31st and I'm hoping the M3 has enough leg room for me.
I'm 6'2" I looked at the BMW 3 series forum and found this same discussion. People between 6' and 6'4" seem be able to make it work with the 3 series. I think it will all depend on how well the seat adjusts.
If Tesla were to do a late event, I would imagine the stores would close regular service hours early and re-open for the people who want to do reservations. That should decrease chaos a bit if they chose to go with a later unveiling.
I read your post and decided to do the same. Model 3 info is what I'm Most excited for in the month of March...1st wedding anniversary is a close second lol
