Great post
Didnt realize thinkware may be 5v. Stepping it down just introduces another point of failure.
I believe you are correct. 16 and 32 cards should wear out quicker. Blackvue 64gb card cost me about $50. I hope it lasts me 2 years. My original lexar card I used lasted 2 years and it was...
Been streaming the AM stations off my phone recently even thought I do have AM in the car. Sound quality is just so far superior that I cant go back to standard radio. Recommend everyone give it a chance
I read good things about thinkware. I have a blackvue and it was acting up twice. First time I changed the sd card and it worked again but the problems came back. I thought it was a faulty unit but thought maybe it was the sd card since I used a different brand from the first time (used a...
dashboard for tesla on android. Have a nice widget on my screen which lets me control all the useful car functions (keyless driving, unlock, frunk, trunk, AC, horn, lights). Cant live without it
Rumor is in europe they are going to be adding a digital radio. I saw it on some thread on some website. Hopefully that comes soon to USA
MCU1 is becoming unbearable lately. I remember the days when voice commands worked every time.
I will definitely do the mcu2 upgrade when available for my car.
I ended up canceling my MICHELIN Pilot Sport All Season 4. Seems like they are loud from my research.
After a few hours of research I went with the continental purecontact ls tires. I really dont know much about tires but I feel they are better than my OEM Goodyear Eagle Touring. Had a 400-500...
I just bought some new tires from Costco
MICHELIN Pilot Sport All Season 4
Total came out to $ 934.41 out the door for 4 tires with installation. Not horrible. I feel like prices went down on tires since the last time I bought some. 45k mile warranty on them.
I think its too soon to tell. AP3 is useless for now. Dash cam and working sentry mode are nice I guess. I could do without them since I already have a dash cam running. They have both slowed my system down big time.
Well see what FSD really offers in the coming months. That $2k sale price may...
On a side note I do use this and its been working fine.

I only mention this because I have always had problems with those super tiny thumb drives. They die much quicker (in my experience) compared to...
At the time they didnt make uniden visor clips. Maybe they make them now. I had one from my previous detector
https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Beltronics-Escort-Passport-detectors/dp/B00VKUR6AQ/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=escort+radar+visor+clip&qid=1599626923&sr=8-1
I used that and trimmed...
Try my visor clip idea. Its really out of the way and doesn't bother me. I think it would be an eye sore if it was right under the rear view mirror. Plus cops cant see when its under the visor.
That wire is always on. Its great for a dashcam but not so much for a radar detector. Sure you can always turn off radar detector by hand. If you ever plan on putting a dash cam, keep that circuit dedicated to the dashcam.
I wired mine into the cigarette lighter. Use a POSI-TAP and it will make your life easier. Remove the bottom side panel of the screen and you can tap into it from there. Then run up the wire from the back and the side of the A pillar. I had an r3 and loved it. Upgraded to the r7 and loved it...
Never heard of any issues. Normally these things dont give problems. I did have a clipper creek at one time and it did go bad, I had to warranty it out. Been using my Tesla wall mounted charge since end of 2016.
Id really recommend going tesla charger instead of a 3rd party for the sake of the...
I had the same thing done. At the beginning it was just awful but after a few updates my system seems to be performing a bit better. Seems just as laggy as it used to be, before the ap3 update.
Yes and very inexpensive.
I change mine out every year and you should see how dirty it gets. This is definitely an upgrade you should do. Order a few from filterbuy so you dont have to keep ordering them.
There are gen 1 and gen 2 dc to dc . I was researching it yesterday. Apparently in gen 2 they moved the fuses so its a little easier to replace than the older gen 1. Instructions are available in the service manual
They are future proofing it. They know they will lose the NHTSA investigation and they have to prove how they will remedy it. A 64gb chip should never go bad.
64gb? I think that's new good news. I dont believe the original chip was 64gb. Even the ones the 3rd parties are installing are 32gb swissbit chips. Id love someone who is more versed to chime in!
I didn't contact Tesla. The battery was indeed a drop in replacement. Ohmmu has been around for a few years so Im not really worried about compatibility.
I Had to get replacements every 18 months for my car battery. Decided to go ohmmu this time since im out of warranty. Working fine so far. If I never have to change it again, it was worth it
I made a video about the installation
Tesla quoted me $230 for their car battery which only lasts me...
AC never stopped. I suspect something else was going on. Might be her AC unit need freon or something. She was hitting tier 3 constantly. Also had a model 3 that was constantly charged at home.I think that alone took $100 of the bill. $500 is still cheap for her her house and AC running all day...
Installed a 12kw solar system for my aunt. Her bill dropped $500 a month to almost $30 bucks. Only cost 18k for the system. Solar is getting cheap and everyone should be doing it. Now Teslas installs it even cheaper! Its a no brainer
Have you seen Teslas Rates? Not that much better
California supercharger rates are 0.28 per kWh. I also saw that they are doing time of use on some chargers and it hit over 34 cents if in peak times
Thats amazing. City departments are non profit. But Edison and PGE are for profit so we get the crap end of the deal. They changed their time of use schedule which is even worst now. Hard to run away from the high peak times. There will be a point where going solar and having battery backups...
Not sure where those california rates come from. Los Angeles Department water and power is about that but EDISION AND PGE, which control most california, is far greater. They are also switching everyone to time of use this year.
I know people (included myself) that wont sell the car because we have free premium internet and lifetime supercharging. Cost of charging the car exceeds gas prices if I charge during the day. My off peak is is at $0.15 but my high is at $0.56 and going up soon. I do have solar and that helps...
Some people get 4-5 years others get less. I got 18 months for each of my two batteries.
Ended up getting an Ohmmu lithum battery and hopefully never have to change it again. I did an install video on youtube if interested
Tesla autopilot and supercharger network is what is giving them the lead right now. Electrify america will change the supercharger network but no one is even close to teslas autopilot system. Really a shame that their support has gone to crap. I was pretty brand loyal until this past year.
Lets wait till their sales start dropping then "customer support" might actually come back. Tesla is hot right now so it might be a while.
Car support has now become a joke. I feel like they left an opening for rivals.
