    Elon & Twitter

I can tell you we will be great buddies if we met. Gummy buddies.

    Elon & Twitter

What? What? See this is why I had avoided this thread. Time to take a Tylenol and a nap before a meeting I have late evening. 😌

    Elon & Twitter

I was being sarcastic. Tesla did the battery swap demo only for qualifying for some government assistance program at that time. You mean BTX6 the treadmill? Great idea. Have the car drive you while you work out and generate electricity? Huh, wont be surprised if anyone else has clued onto this...

    Elon & Twitter

Please Twitter, for the sake of my auto wipers! Please agree to be bought.

Elon does. He will bring that back soon. Wanna bet?

And ‘pit lines’. (Promised to me by a tech at the Fremont location few weeks back)

    Elon & Twitter

Great. Now that the circus is over, the auto wipers, auto headlights, the service quality, build quality, coast-to-coast no intervention driving, and a few others will be fixed soon.

    Model 3 Road Noise

We should tweet this video to Elon. 😏

    Model 3 Road Noise

Not the louvres but the holes above them. Yes, those are what I covered and punctured with a small screw driver afterwards. The louvrso do most of the work to let the air escape, and I left them the way they were. Perhaps, I could do what MBZ is doing, there. Would not be hard to do.

    Screen glue leak fix quote

It is not supposed to be glue. It’s supposed to be some liquid that was sandwiched between the LCD screen and another glass sheet, to enhance viewability from any angle. They got rid of that sometime after 2016 or so, I think.
  11. _Redshift_

    Model 3 Road Noise

What I did for those vents is to cover them all up first with double insulation of foam and Dynamat type stuff. Then punch a small hole (smaller than the original). Air still escapes but noise is slightly reduced. On my S, there were many holes that were near the rear passenger’s ear height...

    Model 3 Road Noise

My experience is the same as yours. I have done almost every part except the front firewall.
  13. _Redshift_

    Model 3 Road Noise

I did the whole floor with foam and aluminum backed rubber, there was almost no perceptible improvement. I did many other parts as well, cumulative effect was noticeable, but not earth shattering.

Horrible service center experience for model X

Good grief! Well, Tesla is now into caring what we think of their service. So there is that. Two visits back I gave them a zero for the rude attitude and irrelevant remarks about my Model 3’s warranty expiration date. (there were still two months left, and the lady at the service center was...

Horrible service center experience for model X

Yes! It’s you! 🙂 For some reason I thought you said it was damaged in transport. It was in _service_ and got damaged. Wow.
  16. _Redshift_

    Model 3 Road Noise

I too have done pretty extensive sound deadening on my 3 as well as S. Results have been worth it.
  17. _Redshift_

Horrible service center experience for model X

I am a staunch critic of Tesla service and have seen how they did a 180 after 2017, when Model 3 came out. However, as much as I am surprising myself to say this, I am seeing a glimmer of hope. Twice in the past 2 weeks I had to make service appointments for my Model 3. One for a front safety...

    Phantom Braking

@SalisburySam I thought they disabled my radar.however, that is not the case. I get a one car following distance, the car ahead of the car in front of me is visualized, etc. Radar is working.
  19. _Redshift_

    Phantom Braking

This was a divided highway but not freeway. In general, I think slowing down in the fast lane / carpool lane when adjacent lanes have heavy traffic is okay, since it’s a bit safer. However, that same behavior repeats for unknown reasons even when there is just another car in the adjacent lane...
  20. _Redshift_

    Phantom Braking

I update to the latest software every time on my Model 3. Phantom braking has increased for me since the past 2 months. Most often, there is another car slightly ahead of me in an adjacent lane. It could be going a bit slower than me, or the same speed, it does not seem to matter. EAP brakes...

BBC Fake News - Tesla ordered to recall more than a million US cars

So you counter a possible clickbait with all out whitewashing propaganda. Nice tactic. 😏

    Beware of Model X

My remark to the BMW salesman after my i4-40 test drive was: improve the charging infrastructure, and build your EV on a dedicated EV platform. The buyers will come.

    Test drive review: BMW i4-40

I have already mentioned the inefficient interior packaging in the i4 in my OP. That is the reason why I am not pulling the trigger on the i4. Also agreed about its _real world_ efficiency, since it’s basically equivalent in weight and battery to a Model S 85 (actually 5 KWh less than that).
  24. _Redshift_

    Test drive review: BMW i4-40

The i4 - 40 RWD is a whopping 800 lbs heavier than my RWD LR Model 3. Though the Bimmer handles well, it can’t hide that much mass. When taking very tight turns at high speed (+20 mph above what the speed limit sign said on the off ramp), my Model 3 is more fun, though not very composed at the...

Survey: is the model Y the “perfect” all around EV?

Cybertruck has an open bed. I don’t really remember if they sell a cover, or it comes as standard equipment.

    Tesla model S battery Failed

This is wonderful to hear. Maybe Tesla service _is_ improving after the big man took a personal interest (as he proclaimed on Twitter). This is one of the areas I thought Tesla is weak, I’m glad to see they might be improving here. 👍

    Test drive review: BMW i4-40

I have owned an e46 sedan, (a sport pack equipped small, nimble but super fun 325i) not the coupe. Thanks for this piece of info. I am a little surprised why BMW didn’t put more effort into the door closing sound. They are usually pretty good about these sorts of things.
  28. _Redshift_

    Beware of Model X

I agree. This is the sad state of affairs. Legacy car makers are way too complacent to change and adapt quickly. Recently I test drove the BMW i4 40. My remarks to the salesman were : please start with a dedicated EV platform. The exterior dimensions as well as the curb weight are big, but...

    Beware of Model X

That’s the thing about Tesla. Whereas other car makers have refresh cycles of 4 years and an entirely brand new platform maybe 10 years, Tesla keeps its refreshes subtle, and no new platform after 10 years. This is where the competition can come and exploit the weakness in Tesla’s strategy...

    Beware of Model X

Actually I saw a YT video on the BMW iX by Sandy Munro recently and he is talking about the cost of carbon fiber being down a lot, and quite competitive with the cost of aluminum or steel. He mentioned it’s cheaper, even.
  31. _Redshift_

    Beware of Model X

I want Tesla to thrive. Elon is the guy with all his faults made this electric revolution happen. Without his Herculean efforts there wouldn’t be as many EVs as there are today. However as a consumer I’ll look for what’s the best car for me (only electric 😊). Right now the competition is...

    Beware of Model X

I did not replace the pano roof. I added some adhesive backed rubber strip that covered the cracked weather strip area. It works, but the piano roof opening and closing causes a bit of issue if done repeatedly. I just don’t open the pano roof anymore. As far as this being a rare experience- ask...

Kicked out of FSD Beta on Highway 17 - Super frustrated with driver monitoring software

It’s an arms race. Every time you think you have outsmarted the human, the human will find another way to kill or injure self, and others.

Kicked out of FSD Beta on Highway 17 - Super frustrated with driver monitoring software

How are your artificial hands on the steering wheel to keep AP nag happy working out? Taking good naps on the way? Didn’t you admit you pressed the accelerator on tight curves the previous time? Let us also know how your car alone handles situations like the construction zone in the middle...

    Tesla model S battery Failed

They can not bait and switch you. Stick to the original. Side note: only $12.9K for what I presume is a refurbished 85 KWh battery is crazy good value.
  36. _Redshift_

    Beware of Model X

My weatherstripping cracked on the pano roof of the car and started leaking water. Is that considered ‘reliable’? To a fanboy, yes. To a neutral observer, no. BTW it was also going to cost me $650 to fix, as the whole Pano would have to be replaced, according to Tesla (and verified at an...

Can we remove our radars now, since they're not used anymore?

Don’t beat yourself up! Removing weight is a good idea. However if you can’t do it, try and get the static weight distribution close to 50-50. (BMW pursues this more than anyone else). It can do wonders to neutral handling at the limits. My E46 BMW was gem of a car when it came to nimble...

Can we remove our radars now, since they're not used anymore?

It’s very easy to remove the rear bumper. Drive fast through a flooded street.
  39. _Redshift_

Can we remove our radars now, since they're not used anymore?

You clearly have no idea how little weight difference it will make. Yes, Germans located the battery to the back, but that’s to achieve near 50-50 static weight distribution. Tesla comes with a rear biased static weight distribution. Decreasing front weight will make that static weight...

Can we remove our radars now, since they're not used anymore?

Amazing, we would save like 2.2 lbs! I’m rushing to the service center right now.
  41. _Redshift_

Just another example of the Tesla sterling service… 🙄

I guess Elon is taking this service thing personally. Kudos!
  42. _Redshift_

    Beware of Model X

Man, I guess I am a little jealous. I’ve always wanted my own lift. They are like 2500-8000$, I don’t think I’ll be allowed to buy it. You have access to pretty much whatever you want!
  43. _Redshift_

    Beware of Model X

Wow, you are just good with cars, or do you run a shop? 🙂
  44. _Redshift_

    Beware of Model X

I went to 5 shops. 4 said they won’t touch Teslas. Fifth said they would, but only if I used new parts. See, they don’t want you be liable if used parts break or something. Or they don’t fit properly, etc.

Kicked out of FSD Beta on Highway 17 - Super frustrated with driver monitoring software

I still have the radar and HW 2.5, so the updates are not supposed to kill my radar. How would I know if they did, though? Anyways, the phantom braking seems to have increased for me. Yesterday I was on a highway with 45 mph limit, and a cyclist was pedaling in his bike lane to my right. The...

    Beware of Model X

No shop will replace with used parts. I tried that when my Model S front sway bar joint cracked, and two of the links on both driver and passenger side developed cracks in their seals. I had to buy the components new from Tesla which took almost 5 months. Then the repair shop quoted me a price...

Kicked out of FSD Beta on Highway 17 - Super frustrated with driver monitoring software

You engaged FSD on highway 17? 🤨 Well, there you go. That particular road is not where this ADAS feature shines, despite what some here will tell you. I tried my EAP just yesterday and had to take over as soon as the curves got very tight. The EAP was way too slow to take them. In the middle...

    Beware of Model X

Third party service centers are still in their infancy for BEVs. This is where Tesla should focus. Tesla certified service shops would actually help a lot. A lot of customers actually are not very savvy about fixing their cars by themselves, more so, a Tesla, since a) it’s perceived as an...

    Beware of Model X

Taking just some word snippets and replying to them is your thing, eh? I said you are ignoring Elon’s lies because you were not bothered by them. That’s turning a blind eye, in my book.
