    RHD Countries 2019

That's in line with my expectations. I was never expecting delivery before this time next year.

No power seats in base model

+1 to that. I am not keen yet on the glass roof, but could do with much of the rest of that pack.

No AM Radio on 3 (Like the X)

I know I listen to two AM radio stations routinely, but I don't see this as a downside. They both stream, and I could live without the buzz near railway lines, the bursts of static every summer afternoon when storms are about, and how they vanish the instant I go underground to park...I think...

[Rumor] Significant Engineering Issues with Model 3

I had a Honda Civic with design flaws identified and corrected (for free, by Honda) 9 years after it was released. If complex systems weren't capable of failure or design issues, warranties wouldn't have been invented.

    Tesla Makes History - Again

Rewatching that video has killed some time waiting for the livestream...thanks!

Should I Livestream Model 3 Event???

    Sage words indeed.

    Model 3 Common Issues

Lack of serious competitive alternatives for magazine head-to-heads aside from those made by same company.
  9. strykeroz

    What if no Model 3?

It's not that it's a Tesla. I want a BEV and nobody else is doing it this well yet.
  10. strykeroz

So no Model 3 model I guess :/

I had to go searching but did find in the timeline for Elon's tweet that he agreed the scale model 3 would be part of the gifts for those stanging in the queues...tweet here. I guess after the initial reservation euphoria, reality has set in and it got too hard.

Australians spent $42.5 billion on fuel last year

Agreed. LNP locally are going to make our next state election all about power prices, which unfortunately means they're going to try to push coal harder than the current mob, claiming somehow that our high power prices are somehow linked to renewables, that we don't have hardly any of yet. I...

Australians spent $42.5 billion on fuel last year

I've not heard anything of this kind of analysis nor plan from candidates wearing any team colour so far. You have my interest, and tentatively, my vote sir.

When will we see a photo of SN1?

At the Adelaide presser he said he'd be staying another day to visit the windfarm site where the batteries would be installed.

New Motors - 1 million mile life. Model 3 the last car you buy?

Agreed. My 17yo has suggested he buy the autonomous driving upgrade for the M3 rather than getting his licence and car. It's completely different to racing down to get our learners permit on our birthday like we did!
  16. strykeroz

New Motors - 1 million mile life. Model 3 the last car you buy?

If we get these motor improvements I'm sure it will be recycled with the drivetrain just like new. I've been guilty of holding onto vehicles past 300,000km. And even in that relatively short time, the new features and enhanced safety etc we take for granted by that time mean the upgrade is...

    Model 3 Positives

All the good points above, plus that delivery remains on schedule, and has at least the range they said it would when we put our money down.
  18. strykeroz

    How safe is the deposit?

It was a far riskier prospect in April last year than now imo. And for what it's worth there are far riskier places to put your money. Having me hold it for you is just one example that springs to mind ;)

    Different door handle colors?

A dark reflection or low lighting on the rear one perhaps? There's a shadow over the area of window above it.

In the future someone crashes into my Model 3

I think you met a future commissioner!

In the future someone crashes into my Model 3

With attention to detail like that, your attending officer has a bright future with the force.

    Kangaroos and driverless cars

EAP might need an Australian edition which will to know how to avoid skippies, wombats, emus, pigs, goats, foxes, deer, emu, camels, wedgies and many flavours of cattle both domesticated and ferral...yet swerve to run over cane toads if it's to successfully replace drivers on this big brown island.
  23. strykeroz

    Feels like a space ship?

Those Soyuz do look comical now with that globe to one side. Recent iterations of those even are now more glass cockpit...at least if you call a central screen "glass". Perhaps Elon meant the view inside the Dragon Crew Module - which has 3x displays, some comfy seats and not much more? Crew...

    Canceled my Model 3 Reservation

The whole US EV fleet is improving its emissions profile, even if you don't use 100% renewable sources for charging. Any ICE will at best stay the same over its lifetime.
  26. strykeroz

    Canceled my Model 3 Reservation

Masterful use of the straw man argument there. Sounds like you were not ready to be a buyer of any EV.
  27. strykeroz

    Canceled my Model 3 Reservation

Your volkswagen has unlimited range? My current Honda doesn't. Had to fill the darned thing up just today.

    Opening doors from inside

Aero will improve once they bog up the door gaps too
  29. strykeroz

    Who gave this #### a Model X?

You see, exactly why I was pleased to be paywalled. What a terribly researched and horribly inaccurate waste of electrons their website is.
  30. strykeroz

    Who gave this #### a Model X?

Yes paywall confirmed. Probably just as well.
  31. strykeroz

Could my wife be a spy for big oil?

I suspect the feined indifference from the boss in my case foretells of a time next year after which I'll only find her ICE in the garage when I need to drive anywhere.
  32. strykeroz

Model 3 official test drives coming this year.

To me this sounds like good news and right on schedule
  33. strykeroz

Is this a valid concern? Charge Port

I expected the Tesla Car-Sharing Network of the future will require that the car can take itself somewhere to be charged - so the port has to be opened and shut/locked without human intervention.
  34. strykeroz

    Model 3 Gaps Oh My...

You don't. We had both with our GM-branded purchase. Win-win! Bottom line is one isn't the opposite of the other.
  35. strykeroz

    "Optional" Glass Roof

Only goes to show how different the needs of people can be. Even when we're talking about buyers of the same vehicle. FWIW we have racks for both our cars. There's too much in this world either too large or potentially damaging to fit inside.
  36. strykeroz

    Model 3 Gaps Oh My...

3rd time's a charm then we have to hope.
  37. strykeroz

The day finally arrives. You get your Model 3! Then what?

I hope they hand it over with a decent charge already onboard because that first day (night?) I have to get some k's in. Have a mountain range to climb and enjoy regen braking for the first time on the descent. Okay, so the script might not be followed but I've been hanging out for an EV for...

Hazard lights switch in final interior?

Do you have a source for that?

What the new FASCIA reminds me of

I see what you mean regarding the nose in this post, but the main design elements of the car still hold. Photos are very prone to light conditions, reflections etc so that white one at the charger appears to have a very poorly fitting frunk lid that I'm sure is not the case. But regardless, I'm...

What the new FASCIA reminds me of

They all look largely the same to me. Each to his own I guess.

Will increased battery capacity be a firmware upgrade?

The same upgrade on the S was $7k so that's not quite so wild. (source: electrek.com)
  43. strykeroz

Will increased battery capacity be a firmware upgrade?

Firmware updated battery upgrade also decreases the number of models offered by half (unless you tie the bigger battery to the D and P options only). All this speculation is fun, but we'll know for sure in under 2 months time...how exciting!
  44. strykeroz

Will increased battery capacity be a firmware upgrade?

    Let's dare to dream

    "Optional" Glass Roof

FWIW I'd take that silver M3 with the silver metal roof over black any day. But especially at the height of Brisbane summertime. I think the range of opinions on the matter even in this small sample reinforces why Tesla is having to lock down the choices to keep things simple and cost effective.
  46. strykeroz

"Best Car for $35K even without any options" vs

"best" is a tremendously subjective term. Hoping the OP's model comparison holds for the pricing locally though as the Accord V6L as it's sold here is $53k (AUD) plus onroads. It's rated at 9.8l/100km though and that's something I'm looking to do without finally with the M3. My first car...

Why I want SAS on my Model 3

Like the OP I'm hoping SAS is included, at least in time for RHD deliveries to the far side of the planet, when mine will become orderable. Our house has not just a roll-up-curb in place of a ramp on the road gutter, but also is so steep that at the garage a standard height car will scrape. The...

Getting seriously tempted by the i-Pace

I agree - competition is brilliant. When I went to start reading up on this now I realise this couldn't be more a polar opposite to Tesla. Tesla is vertically integrating their supply chain in many cases, bringing even their robot manufacturer inhouse...compared with Jaguar who will be...

    More details please Minister Frydenburg

*groan. You are unfortunately correct. In the same way funding a feasibility study can be called infrastructure spending, funding a council is in some way supporting the uptake of EVs. I was cynical when AGL was involved. Now physically ill...
