Performance Model 3 Drag Race - 2021 vs 2018 - Is it Faster?

Don't have dragy, but I just bought an obdlink, arrives next Tuesday (estimated), gonna see how my 2021 P performs.

    245 vs. 235 (18") - Talk to me Goose!

It depends :) Wider usually performs better on dry, hard surfaces (ie: not gravel), lower profile has less roll. It's going to be heavier and might be noisier, again YMMV, and 235 vs 245 isn't a big deal.

    245 vs. 235 (18") - Talk to me Goose!

Yes, but if you set it to 245/35R20 then the 245/45/18 is only -0.4%, so even more accurate. But yes, it rounds up, which can be nice when you drive past speed cameras on a decline or in a bend. Depending on how strict the cameras are in your country. The biggest pain about having a very correct...

    245 vs. 235 (18") - Talk to me Goose!

Track pack (selectable through TPMS reset) is 245/35/20 According to Tesla SC in Norway when you select a different rim size in that reset window the speedometer will take that into account. Still haven't tested it, though. Edit: I went with 235/45/18 on my Performance, don't regret not...

Disable rear seats seat belt warning

First: I think this is a stupid idea. Second: Yes, there are two hinges just beneath the front lip of the rear seats. You swivel them sideways and lift up the rear seat. One on the left side and one on the right. Be very careful, because there are 2 cable bundles underneath, one which is for...

Not sure if this has any value, but for my last 10km (-2C, ~80km/h) I'm averaging 168Wh/km (270Wh/m) Climate on auto, 19.5C, 18" T-Sportline TST Flow Forged Conti VikingContact7 235/8.5"+45/18" My right foot is heavy.

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

Just calculated my 100%, odometer at 900km. Put display to energy, showed km. Started on 81%, calculated to about 79.6kW 2 minutes later it dropped to 80% (lucky!), now calculated to 80.49kW. Drove ~200 meters, got new numbers and calculated to 80.577kW Which I guess is very average for a '21 TM3P

    New M3P feels slow

Anyone have that happen? And how fast does it happen? Based on YT videos the car can still drive at least 65mph when the battery indicator is red.
  12. Marius A

    New M3P feels slow

It happens already at 30% SoC on my TM3P. The speed is limited, but it's still a fast car. No need to make it seem like a bigger issue than it is.
  13. Marius A

    New M3P feels slow

Also it seems there's an issue with the heat pump stealing too much heat on the 2021 models, so if you're somewhere cold you'll feel the power limitation much more often. At least until they push out some updates.

Windshield wipers are horrible, and arguably dangerous

Agreed, camera space is only a small part of the windshield so it can probably never become perfect. I think "ML for everything" is part of the self-driving strategy. Their long-term goal is that the car will drive itself, so if the camera can see everything should be a-ok.

Performance Model 3 Drag Race - 2021 vs 2018 - Is it Faster?

This is a roughly translated and shortened post from a Norwegian forum, from a user who's used SMT on several cars (original link: 77 kWh batteri eller 82kWh batteri på nye Model 3 2021?) "Measured a [2021] 3P while working on it, and got to experience how the heat pump works. It is quiet when...

    2021 Model 3 and differences from 2020

I don't wanna restart the whole conspiracy theory thing about heated steering wheels again, but can somebody with a 2020 and an early 2019 (real leather steering wheel) measure the thickness of their steering wheel? I've had the leather, the 2020 and now I have a 2021, and it feels like the...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

It will affect it, but how much varies. There are several good threads on this beside the sticky post in the Battery section of the forum. Supercharging only is that an option? Getting by with only supercharging Purchasing a M3 that's only been supercharged

Windshield wipers are horrible, and arguably dangerous

Yeah, that's my old car, the new one works as expected. I think that if I posted a video of wipers working as expected in this forum someone is bound to call me a liar and complain about how I've only done it in optimal situations.

Auto-wiper has worked brilliantly for me since I got my new 2021. Was horrible on my old one. And unlike many others, I have proof: https://youtube.com/shorts/T5vZ9uURz_o https://youtube.com/shorts/PYKRT2Iisc0

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

While technically true, that also means Panasonic gets to charge at optimal SoC for longer than LG, which is the biggest limiter along with temperature in terms of charging speed. And for practical purposes, how long you wait in the car before it's full is the determining factor, not how long...

Performance Model 3 Drag Race - 2021 vs 2018 - Is it Faster?

It's completely different rom my 2020P, that one was beast mode all day, 2021 goes limp mode at ~35% rated range
  27. Marius A

Has anyone traded in their 3 for a 21 refresh ?

Don't think there is. When my, and everal other's, TM3P gets down below ~200km of rated range the performance drops significantly. It feels like chill mode, can't easily overtake other cars. More noticeable above ~60km/h. Some speculate it's the heat pump stealing too much heat from the battery...
  28. Marius A

Has anyone traded in their 3 for a 21 refresh ?

I kind of did. Sold my 2020, then they did he price reduction 2 days later and 0,25% financing, so we bought a new one. Total cost of ownership went down almost $8k, so we saved money by switching (although not the original intent). Anyway. The 2021 seems better put together, wind noise is down...

  31. Marius A

    So you don't have a 2021 "refresh"...who cares, really?

Yeah, noise is subjective AF so that doesn't surprise me. My early 2019 TM3 wasn't particularly noisy, but they had to replace the roof. After that it got pretty bad, especially in tunnels. My 2020 was OK. Hard to have a conversation with anyone in the rear, and had to raise our voices when...

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

Just like ICE vehicles, the rated consumption is pretty much impossible to achieve in normal situations. It's "the best you can hope for" So september owners were a bit lucky. Not as lucky as Stealth owners, though.
  33. Marius A

    So you don't have a 2021 "refresh"...who cares, really?

I don't think the updates are something to shout hallelujah about, just to make that clear. However, based on Autotrader: "A refresh is one step above these usual updates. The term describes a car’s conventional yearly updates plus some small exterior changes, such as a revised front or rear...

    Auto Pilot unexpectedly breaking?

I'm talking about everyone, no matter what your native langauge is For people with learning disabilities like dyslexia or ADHD this is often a form of bullying. Disregard that this is a forum for cars, publicly pointing out errors people make is something that should always be opt-in. I said...

    Auto Pilot unexpectedly breaking?

Ah, autocorrect. It was meant to say pragmatics. The scripts on this forum is the worst I've ever seen, nightmare to use on mobile. Anyway, searching uses synonym maps or fuzzy matching so you get hits whether you search for braking or breaking

    $1000 in value? (Pilot Sport)

Also depends on the car and your subjective experience. If you've ever tried summer and winter tires then you know how big a difference it can be. A/S can be very different too, but the MXM4 are already good tires so it's not night and day
