I think this only works if the SP drops, otherwise you will keep chasing higher puts without being assigned while the stock becomes more expensive. As someone trading in a tax-free account, I think I'd rather keep rolling CCs in that case, not earning premium but keeping possession of the stock...

Rookie question: When using spreads, essentially selling and buying an option with the same expiration date (but a different strike) I would expect the theta value to be equal for both options. So, being long and short the same time value would mean that time does not impact spreads, right...

Right, I understand now, assuming your shares will be called away, it will be for a higher price (830 as opposed to 645) and you don't lose on premiums. (sorry for the additional post, it seems I am not allowed to edit)

Could you elaborate on that last line please? As I understand, 830-645=185 but what do you mean by "strike improvement"?
