    Model S Software/Firmware wishlist

This has been a pet peeve of mine for a while. There must be a seat sensor in the passenger seat to enable/disable the passenger air bag (note indicator on screen). I would think this sensor could also be used to control the car's on/off state like the driver seat. If I open the passenger...

    Audio: Sound System Quality?

Being an audio enthusiast and part-time music composer/producer, I'd like to see more EQ settings too. Multi-band parametric EQ might be asking a bit much, but a 5 or 7 band graphic would be a lot better. As I mentioned before, settings for each source would help a lot becuse they vary...

Suggested Tesla Supercharger locations in Florida

Somewhere west of Lake City on I-10 would round it out nicely.

    Audio: Sound System Quality?

I've noticed that Dolby moves the soundfield toward the rear, but there is most definitely less "punch" as you describe when it is on. I feel like there is more bass with the parcel shelf in. Are we all imagining these changes???

Yeah, but there's that sound and smell that no EV can reproduce.

Lucas-Tesla Drive-in project (...check the date)

A buddy posted this article on my FB page yesterday. I wanted to believe it. I started planning a cross country Model S road trip in my mind. Being at that theater for the Star Wars VII premier would be pretty cool

    KOA Charging & Accommodations

I think the key to campground charging is to call/email the actual facility beforehand, find out what they offer and make arrangements. They seem like logical EV charging locations (lots of outlets!).

    Multicoat red in Fl

It's finished? Anyway, no ICE's allowed at a Tesla event. That car definitely qualifies as an ICE ;)

Tesla head on collision with a Honda

This is a terrible tragedy. We all know driving is one of the most dangerous activities anybody can do. Most likely the Tesla will be scrutinized because it's new, different, has live Internet and is high performance - especially since the Model S driver apparently veered into the other vehicle...

    Phone App: iPhone/Android app

Forgive me if somebody already posted about this, but I checked the app while my wife was out in the S running errands and the "location" function not only shows realtime position and speed, but even the power/regen arc! Pretty damn cool if you ask me :)

We will have a rainbow of colors at the event! I can't wait to see the red!

Adventures in charging a Model S in traveling to Key West

We vacation in Key West every May for a week. (own a timeshare there). As much as the trip would be fun in our Model S, we are still reserved to take my Mom's Mary Kay ICE. There simply are no reasonable charging locations near Naples nor southern keys apparently. Maybe next year!

    Audio: Sound System Quality?

Possibly... I find myself leaving Dolby on more than I did originally. When I first got the car, I thought the Dolby setting removed a lot of "punch" from the sound and left it off. I also installed the parcel shelf last week and and I'm pretty much convinced it adds more bass response. - - -...

Suggested Tesla Supercharger locations in Florida

I75/I10 interchange will most definitely need a supercharger location. It is a logical place for one.

    Parcel Shelf

Shelf arrived today via FedEx. Installed easily, I didntt notice any magnets but I was on my way out so have not had a chance to inspect it closely. Seems to improve bass response of the stereo (sound studio), but I still have not done an in/out comparison so it might be my imagination.

    Audio: Testing audio formats

I have not done any extenisve comparisons between 16 and 24 bit FLACs created from CDs. However, even though the source material is only 16 bit, using 24 bit in the conversion should theoretically provide a bit more headroom during the compression process - it's worth a good listen because if...

    Audio: Testing audio formats

For my initial USB stick load for the S, I did FLAC files ripped direct from actual CDs @ 44.1Khz / 24 bit. The files sound great (essentially exactly like a CD would with no compression artifacts). The compression is only about 2 or 3 to 1, but the improvement in quality over lossy...

If I knew then, what I know now...

@MLH - I did load a varied collection of my favorite music (of all different genres) onto a thumb drive destined for the Model S so I could test the audio system right away. I would recommend that for sure. I ripped from CDs using high-quality lossless FLAC format. Have a camera ready to take...

Firmware 4.3 - basic charging scheduling

I got 4.3 over the weekend - installed early AM Saturday morning. The only difference I have noticed is the "scheduled charging". I had not been having any other major issues before hand. However, after this update, the UI started doing some strange things while I was driving: Touch screen...

    Plug or charger for guests?

Since I use the UMC at home for charging, I only take it in the car on longer trips when I expect to need to charge remotely. I can't speak for others, but this is likely a common procedure since the majority of owners use the UMC at home for charging. An exterior 14-50 would be a very...

Any Model S Owners in/near Pinellas County?

Hi Braceya There are a few owners here in Pinellas that are both members of the TMC website and Florida Tesla Motors Club. We got our Model S in December of last year and would be happy to show it to you. We ordered the car back in 2009 and it is everything we expected and more. We live on...

Model S 60kw vs Audi S4 vs etc

@Golan and eelton: I too am replacing an S4 with a Model S. For the past 2 months, I've had the pleasure of having both cars at my disposal (Audi is coming off lease in a month) and they are very different cars. I love the S4, it certainly has been the nicest and best performing car I've ever...

    EV charging at Florida Campgrounds

Larry, when you think about it, campgrounds would make good charging stops for EV owners. They likely will always have some plugs available and it would be a fun environment to discuss the Model S with folks at the campsites. Is there another thread regarding campground charging? Somehow we...

    Advice for Miami-Orlando trip

The J1772 adapter comes with the car. It's simply that, an adaptor. You insert it into the charge port on the Model S, then the J1772 cord from the charger plugs into it. The car by default also comes with the mobile charger with interchangeable ends (one for standard 120v household plug, the...

    SIRI Eyes Free

Model S already supports a form of "eyes free Siri". I keep my iPhone in the center trough, cubby or on passenger seat where I can grab it without taking my eyes off the road. When synced with Bluetooth, just grab phone and hold down Home Button. Siri will answer through car's handsfree and...

iPhone App (on 4S iOS6) works great for me so far. Have not played much with climate controls, but everything else has given me no problems. When I first downloaded the app, I was accross the country. The Model S was in the garage back home and I beeped the horn to surprise the wife while I...

    My 24 hour Tesla

We have been fortunate with our Model S with no problems even worth mentioning. However, it's comforting to know they are responsive to serious problems. Funny how the 'ole 12v battery found in millions of old style ICE cars is the Tesla's Achilles heel.

    Sarasota Exotic Car Fest - February 22nd - 24th

    Twin Chargers

I agree. I had been told by a service rep that adding the second charger after production was somewhat of a "custom" job and only one or two people had actually had it done at that point. The "costs" I had been hearing were >$4,000. Plus, it didn't sound like a normal "factory" upgrade. I...

Phone App: Model S iPhone/Android mobile phone app

I don't believe that software version was ever released in production vehicles. My Model S came with 4.0 and there was nothing like that screen. Also, you can see in the "media" tab that the sound and source setting buttons on the upper right are not there. It does look like a very cool app...
