Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

Whole Mars accidentally tweeted to everyone the internal employee details regarding 4680 Model Y. Nothing really new here, but interesting nonetheless. I find it interesting that they said they had to introduce a new variant because of the new cells. Perhaps Osbourne effect? Also trying to...

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

Everything seems to be back to normal now (EDD back in app and website interface changed back to what it has been since I completed by order profile). Not sure what happened there.

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

Anyone else noticing changes to the Tesla “Manage order” page and the app? EDD no Ionger showing up in the app and now there is a link to edit my design on the manager order page whereas before, there was not (I had to manually enter in the URL since I had already completed my profile).

    Model Y Tripling Delivery Article

I ordered a MYLR with FSD on Sunday. Was quoted EDD of August and it hasn’t changed as of now. I wonder if they will move my EDD up or if the May delivery is reserved for people that also pay the extra $1,000 price increase.

Changed from August to late march

EDDs for orders placed today seem to have been moved up significantly. I placed my order on Sunday March 6, 2022 (LR, 7 seat, FSD) and got a delivery estimate of August 2022. As of yesterday, this was still the state of things for an identical build. Today, orders with upgrades (including FSD...

Tesla sales rep said MY with 4680 will NOT have longer range

Seems like Austin-made cars will get bi-directional capabilities (specifically, grid support) too. Elon “liked” this tweet. While not fool-proof (as emphasis of the tweet seems to be on the ERCOT demonstration), an Elon “like” may indicate there is some truth to this claim. Also, given that the...

Solar + Powerwall: Lights have started flickering when off-grid

My situation below is slightly different, but there could be some relationship. The other day, I had a grid outage while I was exporting (so Powerwalls were full). Immediately, the Powerwalls starting outputting 66Hz (as determined from the API) to force the solar inverters offline. My wife...

Solar + Powerwall: Lights have started flickering when off-grid

Since you mentioned the PWM issue, I decided to do more testing and noticed today that the flickering really picked up on LEDs connected to a dimmer switch (which use PWM themselves) when my washing machine motor was at its full spin speed (so maybe not drawing 5A, but perhaps at least 3A). It...

Solar + Powerwall: Lights have started flickering when off-grid

I have occasionally noticed flickering on mine, but when synced with the grid and when on off-grid mode. One time, it started flickering on grid and the only way I was able to get it to stop was to switch to off-grid. Regarding frequency, I have noticed that, when my charge is below ~75%, it...

Offgrid Powerwall at 59.6 Hz (no solar curtailment)

No, I haven't seen much correlation between frequency and load changes. It actually seems to be based more on state of charge than anything. I do see it creep up in frequency (topping off around 59.9) as the charge level increases.
  15. O

Offgrid Powerwall at 59.6 Hz (no solar curtailment)

From a more "macro" perspective, that makes sense on the frequency. It's just that the lines are so much more "jagged" when off grid vs when on grid, even when the "trend" is relatively flat.

Offgrid Powerwall at 59.6 Hz (no solar curtailment)

I didn't realize how relevant this point was to me until I noticed that my coffee maker clock had lost nearly 10 minutes over the past week and was way behind. Initially, I thought I was immune to this problem because I was under the impression that this was only an issue affecting older...

Offgrid Powerwall at 59.6 Hz (no solar curtailment)

Sounds like a lot of work, especially for someone like me who doesn't have experience working with APIs (other than just using a browser to look at the long string of text it spits out) or any of those tools. Any idea why the numbers fluctuate so much when it is off grid? It seems that, at...

Offgrid Powerwall at 59.6 Hz (no solar curtailment)

Glad to see that my Powerwalls are not out of line with what others (you, mountfield, and wjgjr) have observed. I suppose that means this behavior is intentional - I just don't understand why. Interesting point on the interaction with your Insteon devices. I wonder if there could be some...

Offgrid Powerwall at 59.6 Hz (no solar curtailment)

The times I've looked at it, they have ranged from ~50 to the low 90s. I reconnect to the grid when they get to around 90% to avoid curtailment (I'd rather push to the grid than have curtailment).
  21. O

Offgrid Powerwall at 59.6 Hz (no solar curtailment)

I agree - I don't think it's causing me any issues (I don't have any AC-synchronized clocks, but the point from slcasner is noted). I checked the site you mentioned and it indicates the following, which looks right to me...

Offgrid Powerwall at 59.6 Hz (no solar curtailment)

Is anyone familiar with why Powerwalls would not operate at ~60Hz when off grid absent the need to curtail solar production? Now that we have a "Go Off Grid" button, I am able to more easily observe how my Powerwalls behaves in "Off Grid" mode. One thing I have noticed is that, when I am "off...

    Discussion: "Powerwall +"

My software was upgraded last Friday to 21.20.2. I even noticed the “Go Off Grid” button that people talk about when logging directly into the gateway. However, this morning, I noticed that my software has been downgraded back to 20.49.0. Has anyone else noticed this?

    Discussion: "Powerwall +"

The only thing I have seen is that the regular PW2 spec sheet has been updated to show motor start capability of 106LRA per Powerwall. Not sure which models this applies to.

    Discussion: "Powerwall +"

Looks like new Powerwall specs have been posted on Tesla website. Also, the software update notes have been updated to say “selected regions and devices.” So, I’m wondering if this update has some element of increased power to it

    Discussion: "Powerwall +"

Has anyone received the 21.13.2 update yet? If so, any idea what the "Improved Powerwall behavior during backup" means? Could this be increased peak power?

    Discussion: "Powerwall +"

I confirmed Tesla that my Powerwalls were manufactured in November 2020, and this method is consistent with that. My SNs start with TG120310, TG120314, and TG120315, which would indicate manufacturing in the first and second weeks of November. They were installed the third week. However, my...

Well, that puts my theory to bed. Perhaps that just have supply constraints and are pulling from all the sources they have. 67kWh certainly seems like good production for a 12.2kW system.

    Tesla AC Powerwall *2.1* installed?

Yes, I am remembering now that it was you that had the 1092170 models installed recently. I certainly agree that the 2.1 label doesn't seem to correlate with any other indicators we have regarding which PWs might get increased capability. In my mind, there are 3 facts that suggest that...

    Tesla AC Powerwall *2.1* installed?

One is actually you, on the "Tesla AC Powerwall *2.1* installed" thread. I noticed that your Powerwalls had this new model number. On this YouTube video, the person who posted the video plus one commenter also have this new model number; one was a December 2020 install and one was sometime this...

    Discussion: "Powerwall +"

I must admit that not all of the pieces are coming together for me as to what I can expect. However, when I put the statements made by Elon in the Q1 2021 earnings call (transcript here), in which he stated that "all Powerwalls made since roughly November of last year have a lot more peak power...

    Discussion: "Powerwall +"

Interesting. Do you have a lot of shading that may affect your panels? Given that the Tesla inverter (including the Powerwall+) only has MPPT per string (up to 4), I was wondering if they were still using the DC optimizers that are available with the SolarEdge inverters for those that would...
  34. O

    Discussion: "Powerwall +"

I agree that the PW+, based on the spec sheet, appears to refer to the new integrated gateway / inverter and Powerwall unit. However, I think some of people's confusion about the "plus" referring instead to a higher peak power capability (and not the new integrated unit) comes from Elon's...

    Tesla AC Powerwall *2.1* installed?

"So basically, all Powerwalls made since roughly November of last year have a lot more peak power capability than the specification on the website. They are about twice the power capability, roughly. It depends on how you count power, but about twice the peak power and about oddly twice the...

    Discussion: "Powerwall +"

That was my interpretation as well, but it just didn't seem consistent with Elon's tweet. I was expecting higher peak and continuous for the new PWs
  38. O

    Tesla AC Powerwall *2.1* installed?

Hmm. Given the November date from Elon, this suggests the 2.1 is not an indicator of higher output capability either.
  39. O

    Tesla AC Powerwall *2.1* installed?

This is interesting. When you say they will swap a 40 with a 30, did you mean the other way around? Seems like you would need the higher amperage breaker to get more output (although, maybe I misunderstood what you were saying).

    Tesla AC Powerwall *2.1* installed?

This may be promising then. I will add that my father is scheduled to have his system installed this month. He ordered his sometime in March and his plans show the same model number as mine. But, given vvuk's experience with having the plans say one model number and actual install be another, I...

    Discussion: "Powerwall +"

When I look at the new spec sheets floating around, it is unclear to me which specs relate to the new inverter (and maybe backup gateway 2 replacement) and which relate to the Powerwall. I am curious to know what the "BESS Continuous Power" and "BESS Continuous Current" relate to, because the...

    Tesla AC Powerwall *2.1* installed?

I believe the indicator of whether a Powerwall 2 has the higher capabilities is the part number. Part # 3012170-xx-x appears to have been recently certified by Intertek (October 26, 2020) based on the file in this link...

2 Powerwalls + "Free Nights" Plan...can they pay for themselves?

If you shop around, you may be able to find a free nights plan that covers the TDU charges as well. I live in the Houston area, where Direct Energy offers 12 hours of free power each night and credits you for both the energy and TDU charges (so it is truly free nights, 9a-9p). Powerwalls and...

2 Powerwalls + "Free Nights" Plan...can they pay for themselves?

I completely agree. I have to do the same thing. I have free nights and run bitcoin miners during my free hours, but they use a lot of energy. If I forget to adjust the reserve percentage, the Powerwalls go down to what I had set it at the day before. It would at least be helpful if the...
