You're exactly right, but it's not a benefit. It forces Ford, VW, etc. to use legacy "parts bin" parts to maximize reuse, but that ultimately end up hindering the overall design. Tesla didn't have a bunch of legacy parts and modules to carry over from previous projects, so they could start fresh...

LOL. 0.1mm = 0.004". 2 human hairs. General tolerances for formed metal parts are on the scale of +/- millimeters at best.. Save the +/- 0.1mm for gear trains and precision fits. Trust me - there's no frame damage or harmonic implications from a small sheet metal dent on the roof.

I too am VIN-Less... OD of 10/02, I passed on a 2021 VIN, and now they are making me pay the price! I'm leaving the country on 12/04 and my EDD range almost perfectly aligns with my trip... I'm hoping that I don't need to pass again if I can't pick it up in time.

I'm with you.. I love working on my vehicles.. time flies, and the pride when you're done is an added bonus. Planning the same for mine and likely a full frontal XPEL treatment as well since winter here is pretty brutal.

I got the EDD compression this morning too - was 11/24-12/22 and now 11/25-12/04. Still no VIN. MYP Blue/Black/Tow/No FSD. SLC delivery.

I've noticed that black does seem to take longer than the other colors... which might be why they raised the price for it to $1500? It's worth the wait though as it looks so damn awesome when clean.
