They push on. It is a friction fit. The picture below shows the inside of the stock Model X cap on the left, cheap after-market one on the left. I have not had a problem with either type falling off, but I do not have many miles on either one. .

Has zero effect on the area where the greased rail is. See pictures of both the rail in the center of the car and the one at the door. As you can see the greased rail is exposed on the stock center and modified side when the seat is at the full rearward position. Check yours. Ed

Easy fix. Cut the excess off, file smooth. I did both front seats in less than 20 minutes.
