Posting from inside camper-mode enabled MS

When camping with my 12 year old, or just napping in the back of my P85 while charging, I plug in a mouse to the USB port. A left mouse button click will turn the monitor on when it goes dark. And the mouse will let you control all the functions on the monitor from the back of the car...

Tire Pressure Calibration in Classic MS

FYI: The TPMS "soft warning threshold" is 34 psi for 19" wheels and 36 psi for 21" wheels (North America only, Europe and Asia Pacific are higher). The "hard warning threshold" is 25 psi for both wheel diameters, in all geographic locations. Perhaps you didn't receive notice because your...

steps to pull 12v battery ?

I replaced my 12v battery on a 2014 P85 earlier this year. Pull the negative first, then the positive. The service manual mentions waiting two minutes to allow everything to discharge, without giving any more info. Don't forget to leave your driver side window down so you can open the car...

    T Sportline vs. Axis wheels

I can't help you with this. I have the gunmetal gray.... Shoot a letter to Axis. You'll get a prompt answer, probably from the owner.

    T Sportline vs. Axis wheels

I run the 20" Axis wheels with Michelin Super Sports in a square 9" configuration on my P85. Highly recommended. The Axis wheels road forced balanced well. The finish is 9/10 in quality. The owner of Axis drives a Tesla. These turbines are made specifically for the model S. (I have no...

    Tesla Camping

Plugshare.com is useful for finding RV parks that are Tesla friendly. Prior to this past February, I had to charge at RV campgrounds to make it to any Supercharger.

Door damage / replacement experiences, cost etc

I dented both passenger doors last summer. At that time, I bought new primed door shells from Tesla for about $725 each. I could have picked up a couple of used, mildly damaged doors off of ebay, but I really didn't want any Bondo on my MS.

    Supercharger - Fort Stockton, Texas

Drove around the Fairfield Inn yesterday. No construction. The ClipperCreek in Iraan has a rated output of 70 amps. I've used it 5-6 times. With my P85, I would get about 50 miles per charging hour, due to voltage usually in the 230-235 range.

    Stock or aftermarket?

I use 19" Rials with Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 snow tires, and 20" Axis Model S wheels with my performance tires. Both the Rials and Axis wheels are turbines. Both have performed well for me. Both are half the cost of T sportline cast TST's if you want the turbine look. In your case, I think...

    DIY 12v replacement

Here is the answer to your question. It's a video on the 12v battery replacement on the earlier Teslas:

Rear light condensation then completely fail

Initially, the problem was/is the rear light seals. I have a P85 made in Sept'14, and out of warranty. Never had an issue with water, as I live in southern New Mexico were it almost never rains. But this fall, I've been spending lots of time in the Austin area were it had been raining quite a...

    Camper Mode Question

I have an Engel 12v refrigerator I'll carry in the trunk on Tesla road trips. It plugs into the 12v outlet under the armrests. It will run all night long when I'm staying in a motel, so long as the car is in neutral with the parking brake on.

    Supercharger - Sweetwater, TX

I charged at Sweetwater one week ago (Dec. 26th). I arrived, having charged at Cisco, with 156 miles of charge on my P85. I plugged into 3A and charged to 190 miles. The Kw was stable, starting at 56, then slowly tapering down a bit to 52 Kw by the time the charge had reached 190 miles...

    Surge protector for 14-50

Amazon.com: Eaton 109420 Ultra Surge Protection 3Rd Edition: Home Audio & Theater This is the whole house unit I installed to protect my house. You want to locate it next to your main beaker panel so as to keep the wires as short as possible. You will also need a 50 amp, 240v breaker that...

Supercharger - Van Horn, TX (permanently closed)

I first noticed a construction trailer at this site about three weeks ago when I was in the area. It had an extension cord coming from it leading into the side door of the motel. And a couple of workers were taking measurements along the parking lot edge. (Suggestive, but not conclusive...

Supercharger - Van Horn, TX (permanently closed)

Location of the Van Horn Supercharger is the west parking lot of the Hampton Inn. The Hampton is located on the very western edge of the town, south of the interstate. I took the following pictures early this AM. One shows the trench at the western edge of the Hampton's parking lot...

    Supercharger - Sweetwater, TX

One regular member of this forum first reported problems with the Sweetwater Supercharger on Oct. 17. Tesla seems to be ....... distracted. Overall though, the Supercharger system has been highly reliable, in my experience. I was at the Sweetwater Supercharger a couple of days ago. In about...

    90D and a 270 mile leg

If the Supercharger at Junction isn't open by the time you take your trip, then stop by the Menard County RV Park in Menard, TX for 40 amp charging. It's thirty miles north of Junction, (and not listed in Plugshare.) I've charged there several times when driving my Tesla back and forth...

    Supercharger - Sweetwater, TX

I drove through Sweetwater late last evening and tried the Superchargers there. I plugged into 3 out of the 4 inverter arrays (4A and 4B were ICED). Each showed the same: widely fluctuating output, ranging from 0 to 40+ kW, but mostly in the single digits, and frequently dropping to zero. I...

    Michelin Pilot Super Sports

I just bought a set of 245/40/20 PSS's. There is a BMW version available in this size. It costs $30 more and has a little less tread depth: 9/32 instead of 10/32. So, there may be some difference in the "TO Tesla" version other than a higher price tag.

New Tire (or wheel) Time is approaching... looking for suggestions!

I sent an email to Rial in Germany yesterday. Here's there response: Hello, Thank you for your interest. These wheels are made in Poland. I don't have any information on Luganos in 20" and there is nothing planned for the Tesla in this size for the upcoming winter season. If you have any...

New Mexico Law Prohibits Tesla Stores and Service Centers

State legislators in New Mexico are unique, in that they are not paid. In general, they meet 30 days in even years to consider budget issues only, and 60 days in odd years to consider bills. Bills have to make it out of committees before going up for vote. A few members on a committee, or the...
