OEM Carbon Fiber Hardtop for 2008-2011 Tesla Roadsters (S.F. Bay Area)

I was more curious about how the damage looks while the top is on a car. Ie, is it hidden when it is attached?

OEM Carbon Fiber Hardtop for 2008-2011 Tesla Roadsters (S.F. Bay Area)

Any chance you could show it while actually ON a Roadster? I am very seriously considering getting one of these for the winter months here.

    Model S: Clever Vanity Plates

Just applied for "OHM FACE" on the Roadster. Hopefully someone in the Nebraska DMV either has a sense of humor or that's obscure enough of a reference. :o I scoured this site to see if anyone else had used it first, because someone already beat me to the 1.21 GW reference I wanted first...

I think I could have parked IN that Yukon.

    Stripped screw on soft top

Yes. But I was surprised how easy the whole transaction was. Other than some small talk on the phone, it didn't take 2 minutes worth of gathering info.

    Stripped screw on soft top

Wow... turns out this warrants an entirely new soft top straight from Tesla free of charge. One phone call and a FWD email and done. Seems like a REALLY expensive replacement for a $.25 screw. That's pretty remarkable customer service, particularly for a non-original owner. If they can...

    Stripped screw on soft top

The rubber is stripped, not the screw. Sorry, that wasn't clear.

    Stripped screw on soft top

The screw for the little tension cord on my soft top stripped out of the hard rubber that rolls over the windows. Super glue worked for awhile, but with the weather being nicer and the top coming on and off a lot more it looks like that's no longer an option. Anyone have any suggestions...

    Random Roadster Sightings

My friends have begun playing a variation of the traveling gnome with my Tesla. I'm being tagged in Facebook photos of the car as they stop to pose when they see it randomly about town. The best part is the commentary from other people that don't realize I can see their commentary.

    US HPC charging map

I'll offer up my 14-50 outlet in Fremont, NE, but I'm in the middle of nowhere. Although, you might be able to find a route with plenty of RV plugins available through Nebraska.

    Variable charging rate?

80 miles round trip, but that's assuming I only drive to / from work with no side trips. On most days I can get away with a 16A for most of the day and then top off with 40A, but not always. I do seem to have figured out a routine that keeps me from blacking out the building until I can get a...

    Variable charging rate?

The issue is we don't have a constant draw in the factory. If we had a steady draw from 6a to 6p it would be easy enough to determine what rate to charge at. But sometime we run heavy equipment, sometimes compactors, sometimes water pumps. Sometimes all three. Sometimes none. Its the random...
  15. E

    Variable charging rate?

That's a pretty slick gadget. It's not that big of a deal for me to just charge at a lower draw at work, so I was kind of hoping I could find a free band-aid for the office until I get a charger at the condo.
  16. E

    Variable charging rate?

Is there any way to set the amp draw to adjust over the course of a charge? Say I want to charge at work for 8 or 9 hours. Is it possible to do 40A for half an hour, then automatically switch to 16A for half an hour (or even off), then back again? Rinse. Repeat. I'm asking because as it...

    2.0 / 2.5 Roadster / Roadster Sport Tire Thread

Keep in mind I'm not doing anything outside of "daily"-type driving here. Just 80 miles of highway most days. My battery and paint will take much bigger beatings than the tires, and I'm not interested in squeezing every last .01 out of my acceleration times. What do you think his...

    2.0 / 2.5 Roadster / Roadster Sport Tire Thread

The all-seasons. Too much weather around here year round to bother with swapping tires, so I'm just going to try to find something that will work year-round. Only have about 40 miles of bone-dry highway on them so far.

    2.0 / 2.5 Roadster / Roadster Sport Tire Thread

The Michelins are on. Only have a few miles on since the replacement but it's noticeably different at neighborhood speeds already. Have a little moisture on the ground today so I'll get to play on the way home at highway speeds.

    2.0 / 2.5 Roadster / Roadster Sport Tire Thread

Had a local tire shop recommend the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S as a replacement for the rear Pirelli all-seasons that are on there now. I noticed a few other people on this thread had mentioned them as well. Any thoughts after some time with the Michelins?

    1.5 Roadster Tire Thread

OK, now we're on the same page. So basically I can spend ±$1300 on a new set of tires & wheels and do it myself, or have a chain shop that's never seen a Tesla replace the tires for me... Kind of feel like either way I'm taking a big leap of faith!

    1.5 Roadster Tire Thread

I'm talking about jack it up, five nuts, pull one off, put one on, five nuts, jack it down. Rinse. Repeat. Does it depend on what my definition of "is" is?

    1.5 Roadster Tire Thread

So anyone have experience changing the tires themselves? If all we're talking about is buy a tire / swap a tire I can handle that. Is there any more fancy-schmancy calibration that needs to happen? Sometimes I think I'm talking myself into over-thinking Tesla ownership, but it could be kind...

    1.5 Roadster Tire Thread

Looking for a recommendation on an all-season "low maintenance" set of tires on a 1.5 non-sport. 98% of my driving is done at highway speeds. I don't want to change tires three times a year for weather (we get everything but tsunamis here... so far). I'm not interested in scratching every...

220: Two outlets, two cars, one line

Anywhere from sub-zero (F) actual air temps in the winter to above 100 in the summer. Garage remains around 50 on the coldest days and not much higher than 75 on the hottest. COuld be a swing of 140 degrees in a year once you figure wind chill and heat index.

220: Two outlets, two cars, one line

So I think I may have asked this in a manner that made it more complicated than it actually is. The Roadster is driven about 80-90 miles (on a typical commute day), the S would be substantially less, probably less than 30-40 most days. This number could skew dramatically (although not...

220: Two outlets, two cars, one line

That makes sense. I'm obviously not an electrician, so forgive my ignorance on the details of this. Could this work in a drop cord setup? As opposed to conduit and receptacles being mounted on the wall?

220: Two outlets, two cars, one line

There's a high probability our garage will be the home of a Roadster and an S by the end of 2013. I'm charging 220 exclusively at the office right now, and would like to wire the home garage with a pair of outlets on one 220 line. Does anyone have any experience charging two cars on the same...

    Battery "grinding" sound?

Third one is closest to what I'm hearing, but mine is definitely from the back. I suppose it could also be from the front, but it's so obviously from the back I haven't thought to look up front as well. I'll check if/when it happens again.

    Battery "grinding" sound?

Well, it definitely sounds like a very labored fan, but I don't hear the accompanying "wind" noise one would expect. Where does the air actually escape? Smart money says this is probably what it is and I'm just being an overly cautious newbie. It definitely meets your "really loud" and...

    Battery "grinding" sound?

I'll check those all the next time I catch it. I'm new to this... don't even know where to start! I've heard it maybe a dozen times out of maybe 50 commutes. Didn't think about it tonight until after the closest service was closed.

    Battery "grinding" sound?

Anyone else have the battery cooling/heating system make a "lawnmower" or grinding sound, like it's working extra hard? I hear it periodically after my 40 mile highway commute in cold weather, but there's no real pattern. It's usually when the weather is below 40F and I've been running...

    Cold weather tips

FWIW, we've had a jump in temps here back to mid/upper 40s (F), and the range has jumped back up close to my norm. Seems it was just cold temps and my paranoia, but good to know the drop off is that prominent.

Tesla Roadster Sport vs. Tesla Model S Performance

Is there any place that has a side-by-side spec comparison of the Roadster vs the S? (height, weight, clearance, etc) Edit: Finally found the specs on the site (the S are kind of hidden), but couldn't find a side by side.

    Cold weather tips

I've only had it since early November, so haven't driven it in "hot" weather yet. It's #487. I received it with roughly 6200 miles on it. The range I'm talking about above is at highway speeds, typically 65-75 MPH, on flat to moderately rolling highway (Omaha / eastern Nebraska). That's...

    Cold weather tips

So the last week or so I've been doing my typical 80 miles round trip commute. Temperatures in the upper 20s to mid 30s (F). Seat heaters on, feet heaters on when necessary. Charge fully on a 220 during the day at the office, store in garage uncharged at night around 55 F. The 80 mile trip...

Things not to do with a Roadster.

Have had the 08 Roadster for about a month now and we just hit our (Omaha) first night of crazy cold (low single digits). I don't have access to charging at home yet (can easily fill up at work every day and plan to have the charge-at-home straightened out shortly), so I'm soliciting any...
