Thanks. There are a lot of wobbly 1950s utility poles between our house and "civilization". It would be very nice to be able to run the fridge and [gas-fired] central heating off the car for a while next time the power is out for a day. Glad to hear it's possible; it was easy enough with the LEAF.

OK, so we can't get enough current from the nosecone terminals. Can we attach directly to the 12V battery terminals - are they accessible enough?

Have just been in your shoes regarding the new vs used decision. I would not buy used unless it was <50k miles and from Tesla themselves, and so came with the equivalent-to-a-new-car 4 year/50k mile warranty. There is a lot of expensive stuff to go wrong, and no independent repairers yet so...

I sometimes do short trips in freezing temperatures. I am happy with the performance of the cabin heater while range mode is turned on, and with the limited regen available from my cold-soaked battery. If I turn range mode off, an offensive amount of power is wasted on heating up the battery...

It's good for quite a lot more than that; it does about 130A.

Yes please keep us updated about how this goes. I could run all the vital stuff in my house off the dc-dc converter in a Nissan Leaf via a 1kW inverter and would love to know how possible this is on Tesla.
